      @@nicholasfarrell5981 I like to play garbage sometimes as long as there's legitimate synergy and surprisingly, there is very real synergy here because of the card Bonding - DHO. The card shuffles into deck from hand or gy 1 each of duoterion, hydrogeddon, and oxygeddon to summon a water dragon or water dragon cluster from hand or gy. From gy it can also banish itself to search a water dragon or cluster. I played it and duoterion at 3 because duoterion searches it. I then also played 1 each of the others and I think a couple cluster. Lightsworn at the time was just really good in duel links and already being played in stuff like witchcrafter and was a very efficient engine to get all this stuff in grave and could even get an extra copy of DHO out of my hand with lumina so I could search cluster if it was the last piece I needed. Lightsworn also provided effective removal for backrow so I could safely bring in cluster to enable an otk. The deck was not good. The deck was barely consistent and sometimes even failed to otk. I loved it anyway.

    That Kozmo one particularly hits, because I've been on the delivering end of that. Back when Master Duel came out, it was my re-entry into the game after like 2019ish, when Duel Overload and it's list of felons single-handedly pushed me out for a few years. Once I had made my beloved Vampire deck, there was still room for me to tinker, so I built Kozmos as kind of a joke, because it's been a pet-deck of me and my friend for years. What I didn't expect was absolutely trashing my friend's Sky Striker build and ranking up into Gold rank without so much as breaking a sweat off the back of this janky 2015 archetype. For a bit, I was absolutely confused. I knew in my bones these guys weren't good, but the results were not lying. This didn't last, because the minute Swordsoul came in and showed me what a YGO deck looked like at the time, it all clicked. Kozmos are not good, but they have specific ways in which they troll certain strategies and having semi-safe access to banish-floodgates let's them cheat wins really efficiently in a best-of-1 format.

    Barbaros Skill Drain win in POTE format? That's cool, I think! Barbaros is one of my favorite "archetypes" (it is considered its own archetype on Konami's official YGO deck search site) in the game, and I've been struggling to find a good way of using it. I would love to see this deckbuild.
    I've actually not been on the receiving end of this kind of bad matchup BS, to my knowledge... but I sure as hell have been on the giving end! Two instances I remember was frustrating a Chaos Yata-Lock player during its prime with a rather crappy feline-themed bounce control deck (he ultimately got the lock in, but it took some time, and he actually congratulated me on it, at the end; that was the time that I realized that even bad decks, if build well and in certain matchups, can beat a top deck), and when I went to locals and whupped a couple of top-strength Mecha Phantom Beast players with Wanghu stun (that deck is still one of my favorites to this day, and I'm so glad it got new legs with the release of Menghu).

      @@kidumby7599 earth machine has been out since early 2020 in a recognizable form, astral kuriboh came out in late 2021 so we know the time period and that every single out i mentioned has been out before it even existed as a functional deck and well before this duel occured. They are all one card combos into an out, of which there are 12-15 starters an earth machine deck plays on average with a consistency of over 85% in its opening hand. Considering leo has to be out for 3 turn cycles we can assume the earth machine player saw atleast 8 cards through the minimum 3 turns and that gives them atleast a 98.5% statistical probability of seeing an out within the first 8 cards they drew. If we count the generic outs the deck plays it grows to nearly impossible to not see an out. So again i move the blame to the player not the deck. Do you have any other doubts?

    So I was at a random location nearly 10 years ago. Think of it like a party, but without the partying. In the middle of a game against this one dude, he flips Torrential Tribute (the fake one from the Ultra Rare Packs) and immediately pointed it out. He legitimately tried to tell me "No it's not. I got it from an Ultra Rare Pack!" so I went to borrow a friend's laptop that was there so I could look up the story of it and show it to him. After reading it (while playing a game against some kid), he immediately goes "Wellp, fuck this game. I quit. You guys can have my cards. I don't even care!" and he storms out of the room. We were so astonished that everyone was legitimately frozen as if time had stopped for a good 10+ seconds before someone comes into the room going "wtf just happened?" ... Afterwards, I went through all the cards and pulled out all the fakes, pocketed them while telling everyone I was going to burn them outside later, and let the rest of the people there have the rest. For anyone curious, the collection had nothing really desirable. The most-valuable non-fake card the guy owned was an ultra rare - Seven Tools of the Bandit from w/e the first set it came out in is called. I forgot the name. The rest were commons, rares, and a couple super rares.

    etc.
    Joseph now: "Flower Cardian sucks"
    Don't get me wrong, I know that the deck is too topdeck reliant, but I still cannot believe that nobody at least tried to use it in competitive.
    I started playing somewhat seriously during TOSS format, where:
    - every Sky Striker card said "target" or "destroy";
    - Salamangreat and Orcust were GY focused;
    - Thunder Dragon prevented you to add except by drawing and, again, "destroy".
    Flower Cardian has an Abyss Dweller on steroids, an untargettable and indestructable by effects burn boss monster with 3000 ATK (that grants protection to all Cardians) and a 5000 ATK S/T negate with an effect that doesn't start a chain that negates whatever she or other Cardians are battling (just to make sure that neither Avramax nor Borrelsword could do anything). At the time it didn't have the searcher yet, so it could only draw, something that Colossus allowed.
    Next formats saw Eldlich, Drytron, Tri-Brigade, Numeron... all decks that are countered by Cardians.
    And what about now? Tearlaments? Same.
    And even if it didn't counter these decks, it still can go through handtraps (except Droll) with ease. As long as you can cheat out Cardians from the hand, you could even get Nibiru'd.
