The car is a beast and I've got no regrets:-) I've owned it for a year and it sailed through the MOT! It's my daily driver and I still smile every time I drive it! It's my personal opinion but it's one of the nicest looking cars Audi ever made. The Brazilian designer who designed it said it was the most beautiful car he ever designed and I agree :-) Its different from other Audi's with alot more curves.
Your living on cloud cuckoo land if you think this is a budget car. They are cheap for a very good reason. Audi parts are infamously expensive and the cars are so complex that the labour is increased.
Compared it to a BMW 335i twin turbo. V8 Audi got smoked. There close to 5 sec. 0-60, that's slow. Most iof any of it's competitors are faster. That's why they 2012 was the last year for the S5 4.2 V8.
They're cheap because nobody wants them. They're slow, no upgradability whatsoever without going SC and even that doesn't get you as much as a simple remap does to a 335i. They're AWD which removes all the fun, should have been RWD. Quattro makes the car slow and completely removes character and they're dull to look at. Worst thing is the V8! Should have gone V6 with supercharger or something instead of the shit slow v8s. No idea why they even bother with v8s since they're so slow without turbos. 370z is v6 Similar spec with less torque yet is a faster car than these. Once these get to 120mph they struggle like crazy to keep going. Low end torque is not good, nowhere near what you'd expect from the 300 or whatever lb-ft. It's an a5 with a different sound, barely any faster either. My test drive I would have guessed it was maybe 250bhp maybe 275. When he said it was 350+ I was shocked, feels so slow. When I say it's slow I mean I had a Clio rs200 last and s5 was slow compared to that in a straight line.....not even kidding. I would much prefer the feeling of going fast than actually going fast, that's where fun is. Seen plenty of these with around 85k miles going for 6.5-8k because nobody wants them except maybe older guys in their 50s. Its an old man car. Honestly I'm only so mad because I wanted one for ages! Saved up on little money then the test drive actually made me so gutted! I thought it would be perfect and it was just not at all. Why buy a 350bhp V8 just for 140bhp diesel leon to wipe the floor with you......

Buy a Toyota/VW/etc. Buying a cheap S5 just because you can afford the purchase price will have you riding the bus when it needs a new clutch/starter/etc. A new clutch alone will cost you as much as a good used Honda. $2k-5k easy all day long.
Love my 2010 manual S5 (138k miles), but bring money once things start to go. Simple wear-and-tear items can cost dearly. I need a new starter. The part costs maybe $200, but the job costs about $1,500. A simple starter replacement is an engine-out procedure.
Overall it's been extremely reliable. Almost no issues. By far the best car I've ever owned. Just a warning about wear and tear items and repair costs.
Cruising down the highway you'll get 22-26 mpg (US) all day long.
Really thinking bout getting one in a few weeks, whats the one thing if any to look out for in the beginning
@@danieljohnson4530 If it's a manual, see if/when clutch was replaced and the electricals are in good shape. Also the stsrter.
Too my knowledge there aren't any well known issues aside from carbon build up that can rob some power.
Mine has 138k miles and I haven't noticed any loss of power.
I’d rather have a Vauxhall manaro vxr. 6.0 litre v8 and 400 bhp. £10000 would get u a nice one. Audi’s r too common these days.
Kristian Spencer yes i agree. Cheaper to maintain too.
Saw a VXR8 the other day, it sounds brutal, I'd have one over an S5 any day.
You’d take a Vauxhall over an Audi? Hahahahaha wtf is wrong with you
way more expensive than an S5
AJ K it’s a Holden.
FIESTA??? Sell that boat of a SUV??? What happened to buying a MK2 focus??? Or was it all for imaginary internet clout.
you do no js carless dont you
£630 tax on these is just getting silly
I think he forgot this engine was in a lambo also course its a bad boy engine lol
haha no it doesn't, its not even the same 4.2 as the rs5
@@ace3up mate the 4.2 v8 thats in the UK version from the year 2007-2009 .. that audi S5 had the same engine as the lambo that was in production ..the V10 was an optional upgrade .. the RS5 came well after but who wants a turbo charged car.. a naturally aspirated engine can never loose power like a turbo!
@@Adz_Win sorry but the uk and us version b8 s5 have the same 4.2, the b8 rs5 had a n/a 4.2 v8 as well but a different one entirely, the only audis that share engines with the lambos are the old v10 a8s and the r8 v8 and v10
ace3up ok it’s to early to argue I work soon lol
U change gear a lot 🤣 just an observation
Owned my 58 plate for a year now and WOW!! if your thinking about getting one buy the V8 4.2l.
Mine is finished in sprint pearl blue with silk nappa leather (sprint pearl blue was £1700 option in 2008.)
Just buy one
I did 6 months ago 👍
You have a manual? Any problems with the car?
@@RK1FX mine is a tiptronic auto but it does have the manual mode with the flappy paddles.
I do wish it was manual but the auto is pretty quick
@@imadadbestjobintheworld5259 any issues with the auto? So do you regret getting it auto VS Mt?
@@RK1FX no, I've heard that the manual box can be notchy plus the tiptronic box is responsive enough for me.
The car is a beast and I've got no regrets:-)
I've owned it for a year and it sailed through the MOT!
It's my daily driver and I still smile every time I drive it!
It's my personal opinion but it's one of the nicest looking cars Audi ever made.
The Brazilian designer who designed it said it was the most beautiful car he ever designed and I agree :-)
Its different from other Audi's with alot more curves.
Your living on cloud cuckoo land if you think this is a budget car. They are cheap for a very good reason. Audi parts are infamously expensive and the cars are so complex that the labour is increased.
VAG parts are pretty reasonable compared to most
Compared it to a BMW 335i twin turbo. V8 Audi got smoked. There close to 5 sec. 0-60, that's slow. Most iof any of it's competitors are faster. That's why they 2012 was the last year for the S5 4.2 V8.
Lovely car but the 335i of the same time was the better car.
370z is v6
Similar spec with less torque yet is a faster car than these.
I get your points but a lot of people just want a v8 with a manual gearbox, there’s nothing else like it
lush car
