    Who you DATE...is who you MARRY. People aren't doing 180's once they get married. The signs of who a person truly is are ALWAYS there....they may be subtle but they are there.
    If you can't work with/through those traits BEFORE you marry.... DON'T GET MARRIED.
    You can't change anyone...if someone never wants to discuss money, doesn't value your opinions, talks down to you or about you, embarrasses you for 'fun/laughs', etc...MOVE AROUND...They are being EXACTLY who they are....no amount of 'love/support/money/s**' you provide will change them.

      You have a good POINT. Anyway I feel that his fear is deeper than the surface. His fear of losing money or spending maybe ingrained in his childhood or traumatic past experience. I suggest you to sit with him one day and talk to him compassionately. Deep listening to what he is saying about his fear without interrupting, just listen.

    My husband and I have separate accounts and separate locked up cash savings in the fire safe. We both work. The bills are split according him making the most but I have the things I buy for the house/us. Sounds like this guy gave his wife a credit card and she doesn't work. No way. He needs to cancel the joint everything and give her an allowance.

    Guilty!! I'm all or nothing!! However, I do small expenses like clothes, beauty, and entertainment that does add up. But I'm the one that listens to Dave all that time and I share with my hubby.

    The young guys out there you’re going to assume that the big deal is this woman spending but it really isn’t. The worst part of the story is this is his second marriage. That’s two too many, you don’t need to be married to have a great relationship with a woman. It’s a financial contract that you’re entering into when you get married don’t do it.

      You've clearly missed the whole point of marriage, (as have many over the years). Marriage is a commitment, not to be entered lightly. You marry someone because you want to be with them, and take care of them, raise children, grow old with them. Someone you wouldn't want to live without, and that you respect and trust. You don't marry someone as an experiment. It isn't always easy and you won't always agree. It takes work! You have to be willing to happily do more than your share. 50/50 will never cut it. If you would gladly give 100% to be with that person for the rest of your life, you will never be disappointed.
