I didn't think I'd make it to Everest Base Camp

In this video, I hike to Everest Base Camp in Nepal. It was a huge challenge, and I struggled quite a bit with altitude and food-related issues!
Our itinerary:
Day Two: Phakding to Namche Bazar
Start Elevation: 2,610 meters (8,563 feet)
End Elevation: 3,440 meters (11,286 feet)
Elevation Gain: 830 meters (2,723 feet)
Distance: 10-12 km (6-7.5 miles)
Difficulty: Moderate
The trek from Phakding to Namche Bazar began with a walk along the Dudh Koshi River, progressing through pine forests and crossing several suspension bridges, including the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge. The trail gained significant altitude, making the ascent to Namche Bazar challenging. Namche Bazar was a vibrant Sherpa community with cafes, bakeries, shops, and the world's highest Irish pub.
Day Three: Acclimatization in Namche Bazar
Activities: Hiking uphill and down for acclimatization
Difficulty: Easy to moderate
Acclimatization day in Namche Bazar involved a short hike to the Sagarmatha National Park Museum, offering views of Mount Everest on clear days. Continuing to the Everest View Hotel, I enjoyed panoramic vistas, though we couldn't see Everest by this point. The rest of the day was spent relaxing or exploring the local shops.
Day Four: Namche Bazar to Tengboche
Start Elevation: 3,440 meters (11,286 feet)
End Elevation: 3,860 meters (12,664 feet)
Elevation Gain: 420 meters (1,378 feet)
Distance: 9-10 km (5.6-6.2 miles)
Difficulty: Moderate
The trek from Namche Bazar to Tengboche included a steep climb to the Tengboche Monastery, a significant spiritual site with intricate artistry. The path was demanding, especially the uphill zig-zags, and the altitude became more noticeable. Tengboche offered accommodations like the Good Luck Tea House.
Day Five: Tengboche to Dingboche
Start Elevation: 3,800 meters (12,467 feet)
End Elevation: 4,410 meters (14,470 feet)
Elevation Gain: 610 meters (2,000 feet)
Distance: 11 km (6.8 miles)
Difficulty: Moderate
The trek from Tengboche to Dingboche was characterized by manageable ascents, despite increasing altitude. The hike moved above the tree line, leading to Dingboche, an important acclimatization stop. We stayed in Good Luck Tea House in Dingboche.
Day Six: Acclimatization Day in Dingboche
Elevation: 4,410 meters (14,470 feet)
Activities: Short acclimatization hike
Total Hiking Time: Approximately 2 hours
Elevation Gain: 300 meters
Difficulty: Easy
Acclimatization in Dingboche included a hike to flagpoles above the village, with stunning mountain views and plenty of photo opportunities. The hike was easier and shorter compared to previous acclimatization days. I relaxed in the afternoon in Cafe 4410.
Day Seven: Dingboche to Lobuche
Start Elevation: 4,410 meters (14,470 feet)
End Elevation: 4,900 meters (16,076 feet)
Elevation Gain: 490 meters (1,608 feet)
Distance: 7-8 km (4.3-5 miles)
Difficulty: Moderate to Challenging
The trek from Dingboche to Lobuche involved a gentle start, gradually ascending through alpine scenery. A significant climb at Thukla led to a memorial site for climbers who perished on Everest. The route continued to Lobuche, where altitude made the trek more strenuous. Accommodations in Lobuche - we stayed in Mother Earth tea house - are basic and less comfortable due to the high altitude.
