  • It may be outdated, and it may seem worthless now, but the VideoNow personal video player is certainly an iconic toy for those who grew up in the early 2000s! Did you have one of these cutting edge electronics growing up? Let me know in the comments below!

Hi Erica :D Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I'm really glad you like the video! Are there any specific toys or gadgets you'd like to see? I have a few picked out (that were saved from my childhood lol), but I'm looking for more recommendations too.

I'm an early 2000s kid I had the colored version as a kid. And so did my friends I took it everywhere. Still have it today but now it's my 3 year olds entertainment device. And he loves it just as much as I did as a kid.

That is awesome! Have you seen the VideoNow Jr version with flexible discs? I hope to see the discs in person someday! Such a cool concept.

I was more of a GBA Video kid... and by that, I mean I would watch the Spongebob GBA video cartridge my cousin had constantly.

I really miss when each device had its own task. When you went to best buy there was so much to look at. Now everything does the same thing. Maybe a little better but pretty much all devices do the same exact thing.

It's kinda boring nowadays when I walk into best buy now it's just filled with smart phones and tablets that look the same. Same goes for TV's only the brand logo is different no different shell or cool shell just blank black.

This is the sort of crap we kids had to put up with back then. Tiny black and white screens, low frame-rates and proprietary media like in consoles such as the PSP. Kids have it so much better today.

This was interesting to see, I never saw this kind of player in Italy but maybe it's because at that time I was a teen, almost an adult, and I didn't care about toys like these anymore. But I don't remember seeing kids with these players or commercials or stores selling them. Love this new format, hope to see more videos about retrotoys 😍

I wonder if it was ever released in Italy. I tried to search on Google to see what countries it was released in, but no luck XD Thank you so much for watching and commenting! I really appreciate it!

They were just pure novelty that quickly worn off when MP4 players came en vogue including PSP where you can watch videos and listen to music on the system and TechMoan reviewed the videonow system and totally panned it.

I remember owning 2 they both broke down I like those compared to the videoNow color and color fx since it had the flip screen. Plan to go to goodwill or somewhere to see if I can find a working videoNow XP to bring back memories I still have 6 discs but no videoNow to watch them on

I actually had a silver original model as a kid. I only ever watched the in-built demo though because the sounds the player made were kind of off-putting (to younger me, anyway) and as a result I never really used it. Probably for the best.

If I recall correctly, I think the Junior version had special "indestructible" discs that you could bend... so hopefully your brothers didn't destroy them lol! Thank you so much for watching and commenting

Not true video now is charming and was adiquate for kids and I would rather have a video now today vs some laptop or portable dvd from the same year because it would not be as charming.

Hi Dice Roll :) Thanks so much for the comment! Did you watch my entire video? I definitely talk about Video Now in a positive way, as I certainly enjoyed owning one as a kid (and still own it as an adult!). "Obsolete" simply means that the technology is outdated and no longer used, which is true of the tech that this device uses. It is not an insult.
