"On one side Israeli pianist Shai Maestro, on the other American saxophonist Chris Potter. On one side, a delicately extroverted poet, on the other, a silent one that goes straight to the point. The two artists are gathered at La Petite Pierre for an exclusive concert.
When he was 5 years old, Shai Maestro began playing the piano while listening to Oscar Peterson playing The Gershwin Songbook. "Peterson's touch, the beauty of Gershwin's melodies, and the swing captivated me." His craft, fluid and bright, left a huge mark on Maestro. Far away in Chicago, Chris Potter is already a professional thirteen-year-old sax tenor virtuoso with solid, fleshy sounds reminiscent of Michael Brecker. An outstanding arranger and orchestrator, a sturdy hero of innumerable encounters, he is gradually developing a growing sensitivity. Shai - the poet, delicately extroverted - explores his music at the same time as it delivers in touching hesitations, followed by magnificent flashes, Chris the silent goes straight to the point. These two men respect each other, with a moving modesty. The meeting of these two artists where on paper everything seems to oppose produces a strange and beautiful magic where Chris Potter, as if reassured by the benevolent sitting of Shai Maestro, rounds a statement that remains solid and calibrated. In 2017, the Festival exclusively hosted Shai's piano solo concert at the Lalique Museum for moments of grace, ginned by this lunar Pierrot with a heart wide open. There were wet eyes all over the hall. The recent meeting - equally exclusive - of the two men at Mezzrow Jazz Club in New York led them straight to start to Jerri Hans main square at La Petite Pierre, France."

At about 5:30 or so, he makes a switch. Melody echoed on the left while the right takes rhythm. There are other times as well. I keep playing it over. This is really rich stuff!
