For those in the USA, the jumper is 6'6 tall and about 247 pounds. Won't be easy to hold a guy like that up by the edge of his clothes. Credit to The Beast, but more credit to whoever the jersey manufacturer is.
the other team did not come in charging like usual because they respect each other and didnt want the guy in the air to brake his neck so everyone more or less helped to bring him down gently. This is great sportsmanship.
THE BEAST epitomises the green and gold spirit, he will go down in a prominent place in South Africans rugby history not only for the skills he displayed week in and week out but also for the humility with which he carried himself.....so much so....that he is and has been, the only rugby player in history, ever, to have his "name" called out by the entire stadium ( opposing fans as well ) each and every time he touched the ball in a game...... that surely has to be the crowning achievement of any rugby player in the world
Lemme just say, being a long term fan of rugby and a fan of nfl, both sports are better than nrl and even though nfl is great, you would require much more than you would if you played nfl, nfl players need certain traits suitable to their position, while rugby players all need and extremely large amount of stamina running majority of the game and speed to follow the ball, even large forwards. just saying in overall stats i'd say rugby is tougher and hard than the rest
Unbelievable! I've seen this scene on Instagram, I tried to search for that again and I lost it. But anyway, it was such a demonstration of strength, power and safety for the his partner on the field.
I’ve never watched rugby but i saw this on tiktok and had to find it, that man is Hercules wow ive never seen thats level of strength save a teammate from certain injury. Props to whoever makes the jerseys aswell, our American football uniforms over here for surely wouldve ripped like paper
BEEEEEAST! I'm a Sharkie through and through and don't know all the Stormers by name but please also take note of the Stormers player that runs to assist Beast and Bresler. Kudo's to him - give the man an ovation for damn fine sportsmanship!
I've been a rugby player for more then 20 years, I can tell you that it's a damn hard sport much more technical then it looks. American football much be hard as well!
Here's some times for you if you are interested (quickest rugby players of the last few years): #1 Toderai Chavanga - South Africa -10.27 seconds 100m #2 Brian Habana - South Africa - 10.4 seconds 100m #3 Takudzwa Ngwenya - USA - 10.5 seconds 100m #4 Joe Rokocoko - NZ - 10.66 seconds 100m #5 Doug Howlett - NZ - 10.68 seconds 100m But rugby doesn't have drafts or combines so they don't record stats like they do in the NFL. There are many players as fast who dont have stats.
that guy is colossal, I saw him a few years back playing for the Baa Baas @ Twickers and it was great cos there were so many Saffas at the ground so everyone caught on with the 'BEEEEEAAST' chanting pretty quick!! Also I think it was a touch of class to see the Stormers players help get the other fella down first before making the hits..... that's why, in my opinion, rugby is so much better than footy/soccer ..
Watched alot of rugby in my time, played a bit as well. Never seen anything like this. Have to say if i were a lock i would want the BEAST lifting. Nice work SAFA.
Props are so under rated and this is coming from a Flanker, a position almost everyone talks about (apart from the backs) Personally i think Tendai Mtawarira has set the standard for South african props in this era along with Bismark Du Plessis at hooker
6 years late but American football should not be called football in the first place. They don’t even use their feet. Only for kick off, punt and a field goal and that’s it. Soccer should be unanimously called football everywhere including North America.
I enjoy American and Canadian football, and it's cool to see the world finally wanting a piece of it, just look up the IFAF. Tackle football is an interesting idea for a sport, and I'm glad Rugby helped spark it, and just because Rugby is ''original" doesn't make it superior. No sport is superior to the other.
Hayden Smith was a B-level Rugby journeyman who easily walked into an NFL team and played several games in his rookie season despite LITERALLY never having played the game before in his entire life. That's the point.
yeh it would depend on the velocity of the jumper so even though his mass would remain constant it would appear to be greater... but without getting too much physics that was simply unreeeeeeal... Beast
think its interesting to see how the sharks players Sykes and Bismarck went straight for the ball whilst Bresler was still lodged in mid-air, on some ''alright Beast, you take care of that and we'll get on with the game" like they KNEW nothing would happen to Bresler!
We at PMS think that what's most impressive here are those heavy-duty, super-strength shorts Bresler is wearing. Regular shorts would've torn and left him flapping in the wind. Thank you, modern science, for combining spandex, cotton and titanium into a blend that allows athletes to be suspended upside-down by their shorts. Keep those pads on!
Ok people, your missing one thing in this NFL vs Rugby argument. The NFL has the head coach and Offense/Defense Coordinator(s) constantly telling them what to do each 'down', NFL players rely on instinct and opportunity to 'make a play' from that. Rugby is a test to see what team has learnt the most from their coaches during the week. The team comes second, then the individuals come third. I like to say I'm a fan of both sports. Go the All Blacks and the Detroit Lions!
To put it in perspective, if this happened in the NFL, the teams would then take a 5 minute break, hold a press conference about it, then everyone would test positive for steroids. But this is rugby, so they just played on for the rest of the game.
cont.. "He is in over his head. The Jets in particular have failed in scouting for a long time and when they had the chance to see a guy with his supposed physical prowess they bit but they forgot they had to teach him. There are 2 other TEs who are clearly better and if it wasn't for their injuries during the season. He would have never stepped onto the field. There is also a very real chance this was Mike Tannenbaum (the GM)'s desperation to keep his job. He was willing to go with anything."
I'm an American, and I hate when people here refuse to believe the fact that American football was made only because rugby was outlawed in many places for being 'too dangerous'. Luckily though the sport is growing again where I live.
Many rugby players don't have the explosiveness for football. They don't have the mindset or the physical capabilities to want to kill their opposite number. Rugby is structured and meant to contest possession. In football, possession is not contested and is about doing whatever is necessary to stop the ball carrier as quickly as possible because the offense only need 10 yards. Different mindset hence different physical capabilities.
@chewie2240 I think you miss the point.. The lifting wasnt the feat of strength, the guy jumped we can all see that. It was the strength in keeping him from toppling over the back that was amazing. That guy flipped pretty quickly and was gonna land in a bad way if the beast hadnt pulled him back.
as a MASSIVE rugby fan i cant help but point out that in NFL u get hit HARDER but in rugby you get Hit MORE. they are both good sports but to all you people who have never player Football you would know that most of the padding is optional, football has more injuries and that the protection i needed because football is a collision sport. but i like rugby better
I didn't know that a fumbled ball meant that one team has possession. It's a loose ball that no one has possession of. Of course, you would think people took a shit on my arguments when you can't even process the rules.
Once again Hayden Smith STARTED on the practice squad and quickly made the full squad and went on to play four games in the NFL despite LITERALLY never having played the sport before in his entire life! "Jets fans and insiders say that he is trash and they know who he was prior to signing and it's a publicity stunt. It's not the first time they did it. I'm sure you have heard of Tim Tebow? The fact that other teams passed on him quite quickly really says a lot." Now you are just making shit up
For those in the USA, the jumper is 6'6 tall and about 247 pounds. Won't be easy to hold a guy like that up by the edge of his clothes. Credit to The Beast, but more credit to whoever the jersey manufacturer is.
Not only is it lift but the man is running backwards. So there is momentum that has to quelled. Amazing strength.
Mr price🤣
the other team did not come in charging like usual because they respect each other and didnt want the guy in the air to brake his neck so everyone more or less helped to bring him down gently. This is great sportsmanship.
It's also a rule that you can't tackle the catcher in the air
Love how the opposition team helped out
@T Uu who even says that 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ it’s not about if he needed help or not ZZZZZZZZZZ it’s about human compassion.
@@KB-cp9ds Well said my friend. 👍🏼
Who is here after Beast retired ?
@Dulce Wilcox LOL!! Touché
The strength of the man. A true "Don't worry, I got you" team mate💪💯🙌
Wow I got chills watching this , that’s impressive on every level
THE BEAST epitomises the green and gold spirit, he will go down in a prominent place in South Africans rugby history not only for the skills he displayed week in and week out but also for the humility with which he carried himself.....so much so....that he is and has been, the only rugby player in history, ever, to have his "name" called out by the entire stadium ( opposing fans as well ) each and every time he touched the ball in a game...... that surely has to be the crowning achievement of any rugby player in the world
I like how Jannie DuP just cracks up at the the man hanging upside down. Love the Beast.

"Props are worth every penny" so true
The Beast!!
incredible feat of strength by his shorts, this clip should be an advertisment
BEEEEEAAAAAAAAASSSSSST!!!!!
This was all about trust between the guy lifting and the one lifted. BEAUTIFUL.
i would trust him with my life!
I love how they went RIGHT from saving that guy from having a serious injury... to playing again. LOL.
Unbelievable! I've seen this scene on Instagram, I tried to search for that again and I lost it. But anyway, it was such a demonstration of strength, power and safety for the his partner on the field.

I like how the opposition help them down
This is the best thing to ever happen in rugby.
Never mind the terrific catch! Nicely Done Anton Bresler! Keep your eye on the ball!
Amazing makes me want to watch rugby now.
Absolutely amazing shorts! The Black dude was pretty strong too.
BEEEEEAST! I'm a Sharkie through and through and don't know all the Stormers by name but please also take note of the Stormers player that runs to assist Beast and Bresler. Kudo's to him - give the man an ovation for damn fine sportsmanship!
Unbelievable!! U got a new fan frum nz! The BEAST!!

Awesome. No other words.

#1 and #3 ar Zimbabweans. Just saying
He's Zimbabwean and has played rugby since school days, mate.
I worked at his wedding. Was pretty darn awesome.
he has great shoulder rotation, must overhead squat frequently too. Great stuff
that guy is colossal, I saw him a few years back playing for the Baa Baas @ Twickers and it was great cos there were so many Saffas at the ground so everyone caught on with the 'BEEEEEAAST' chanting pretty quick!! Wow that would’ve been so bad if he wasn’t there to support the fall. Amazing strength 💪🏽
He's probably been working on his "core!" Bloody Beastly!
Beeeeaaaassssttt!!!! This lift was incredible!!!!
Beast you beauty!!! What a palyer.
Absolutely BEAST 😱
Can Rugby be Rugby and American Football be American Football and leave it at that?
6 years late but American football should not be called football in the first place. They don’t even use their feet. Only for kick off, punt and a field goal and that’s it. Soccer should be unanimously called football everywhere including North America.
i was at that game. best ever!!! anton b resler weighs around 110kg. holy hell!
Holy fucking shit. Remember when the Sharks were good? How time flies...
this is a great feat of strength because any other player's back, triceps or shoulders would have given in causing the jumper to fall on his head.
espetacular levante .. nunca vi un levantamiento haci de bueno .. lo voy apracticar
Bro, do you even lift?
I enjoy American and Canadian football, and it's cool to see the world finally wanting a piece of it, just look up the IFAF. Tackle football is an interesting idea for a sport, and I'm glad Rugby helped spark it, and just because Rugby is ''original" doesn't make it superior. No sport is superior to the other.
I love that nowadays commentators don't bother with Mtawarira's first name anymore, he's just Beast.
Welcome MLR brother.
gotta give props to the opposing team players for helping him safely put his teammate down.
Great player and a great guy! Beeaast
amazing! absolutely amazing1
BEAST
spoke with a ref and that's what told me, you're right.
Rugby games are broadcast in both languages.
Beast
What is supposed to happen during a scrum? I'm sorry, I don't understand the game but it looks awesome!
Damn, he is THE BEAST indeed.
it has been confirmed Beast will make an appearance in The Avengers 2!
think its interesting to see how the sharks players Sykes and Bismarck went straight for the ball whilst Bresler was still lodged in mid-air, on some ''alright Beast, you take care of that and we'll get on with the game" like they KNEW nothing would happen to Bresler!
It's a common assistance when receiving forwards receive kick-offs, but he launched the other guy into orbit.
Guys do good job you know what u doing we love all ov you.
What a nice mate.
that is an appropriate nickname for him:"The Beast"
wow!!! amazing!

He rightfully deserves the name "BEAST!" Fuck yeah SA!!
on that subject, of how great rugby is, you may enjoy this video also:
A day in the life of Will Greenwood with Canterbury of New Zealand
To put it in perspective, if this happened in the NFL, the teams would then take a 5 minute break, hold a press conference about it, then everyone would test positive for steroids. But this is rugby, so they just played on for the rest of the game.
good observation
OMG Mtawarira is not human!
This is so badass! This is the only sport that is more physical than football! I love football but you have to be a badass to play rugby.
Man he is a beast.
what kind of water bottles are they drinking out of at the end there?
This boy is a monster of a man, arguably the best loose head in world rugby. I think the English are in for a world of pain come the 11th of June.
Now THAT, is a real sport!!!
Rugby understands you not the other way around
I need to get me a pair of those.
pure strength pure strength gimme pure strength

For the americans, That dude is 116Kg which is equivalent to 255.2lbs...Pure strength
How strong are those shorts?!
wow amazing:D
