The sylvari are a really unique race, they are the youngest of all the races and they resemble plant life in humanoid form. Curious to learn about the world and experience all of life's many pleasures the sylvari are an outgoing a prosperous people.
There is lots of lore that can easily be overlooked in Guild Wars 2, if you don't pay attention to it you may miss it. Having played both GW1 and GW2, I would say more “found family who came together while mourning the deaths of their loved ones” than “and they were roommates” vibes, but I do appreciate the joke.
