    Damn straight they're worth the money. Best damn sunglasses I've ever had. Theur customer service rocks too. I didnt get the email shipping notification and called their customer service number. An actual person answered the phone and I didnt even have to wait through 5 minutes of machine menu first. She even sent me a personal email apologising for my specific issue, which ive never had any customer service people do before. Compared with Luxottica (Oakley and Costa), they're customer service is amazing. I'll never buy another Oakley or Costa product, but assuming Maui Jim keeps up its standards, ill never buy another brand.

    Really pleased with my Maui Jim's that arrived yesterday. In comparison to my Ray Bans which just darken the view with little contrast these sun glasses really enhance your vision with fantastic contrast, pop of colour and brightness with no glare.
    They are amazing. Glad I finally got a pair👍

    This year was the first time in 10 years, I selected sun glasses that aren’t Maui Jim’s. I purchased Ray Bans. Although my new Ray Bans are a cute frame. I can clearly see/feel the difference in the lens protection. I had zero glare with Maui Jim’s.

    Maui Jim are great sunglasses. Awesome polarized lenses and frame... but beware the lenses crack really easily. I've been through 3 sets and they just broke again! So I've got my old Von Zippers on again. They're perfect for reducing glare but only for fashion use but no good for action. So pose with them but then take them off to hit the mountain, slopes or the water.

    I just got a pair of Mavericks I ordered off amazon earlier today, and I was actually kinda dissapointed. The only comparison I have in this case are a pair of Ray-Ban Aviators. The the nose pads were pretty wobbly like a cheap pair from the gas station. The lenses also were not what I was expecting at all. I got the blue hawaii lenses, which I knew weren't going to look blue through the lenses, but the last thing I was expecting was for them to make everything look pink. SportRX described them as amber which it didn't look like at all lol. They were much lighter weight however which was really nice. Ray-Ban Aviators are just way to heavy and constantly slip down the nose.

    • @duncandonuts5268
      @duncandonuts5268 Před 11 měsíci

      Update: I got a pair of Seacliffs with the neutral gray lenses that I liked much more. Not so much of a color pop, but definitely more than plain glass lenses. The nose pads are solid this time and don't wobble at all. Not sure why they did that on the pair of Mavericks I had, but I'm much happier with this pair.

    I was on Maui Jim's website yesterday and noticed that a few models have glass lenses. That is a big plus for me. The photographer in me prefers glass optics.
    Am I the only person that perceives a much greater utility and added value with glass? Weight be damned! 😆 Like vinyl records, I predict glass will become THE high end for spectacles. Or maybe I'm just a dinosaur 🦕.

    New subscriber. Excellent video. You should film outside when you can.
    While the acquisition of Maui Jim by Kering will probably result in better frames, I am sceptical about the quality of materials used, the location where they will be made, and the quality of customer service they have always been known for.
    I don't know much about Kering. Luxottica is my closest frame of reference. I do hope Kering's treatment of their acquisitions is much better than Luxottica. What's your take on all this?

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  Před 2 lety +2

      Thank you Kieron 😀
      I have mixed thoughts on it. You are totally right about Luxottica, but for what it's worth I find Kering far better than them, and I don't think Kering are trying to conquer the market (at least not yet).
      It's very surreal, as Maui Jim always came across as fiercely independent, and I also don't think they needed to sell out. They are only growing... but it seems everybody sells out in the end :(
      Kering are the best of the 'big players' in eyewear, so it could be worse. On that subject, I think the quality of materials will only improve under Kering.

    Could you tell me if the nose pads from your bowline have any wiggle to them? I just picked up a new pair and the nose pads seem to make noise when moving the sunglasses around. I noticed they have a lot of “loose” movement even though the screws are already tight. This is for a new pair I just picked up from Costco.

    I have the Maui Jim glass Bronze lens for 2 years now, and after trying most of the top brands out there, the thing that sets Maui Jim apart (above all you have stated) is the anti reflecting coating. It's just unmatched!
    I bought a pair of Oakley's just a few days ago (which were too nice to stay at the store) and as the lens itself is nice, the anti reflecting coating is very mediocre.. Shame.

    I watch a lot of your videos and I respect your opinions but I disagree. I've ordered prescription polarized sunglasses from Zenni Optical (they can actually make sunglasses that correct my severe astigmatism) and I had the opportunity to compare to multiple pairs of Maui Jim sunglasses as seen through my regular prescription glasses. I don't buy that Maui Jim has any special technology. Their glasses look fairly dull actually, and both the brown and gray tint were underwhelming. A metal Maui Jim frame also had lenses with inconsistent polarization which suggests the film was applied improperly or the lenses are too tight in the frame. I was pretty shocked that my cheapo Zenni Optical glasses with Vision Ease Coppertone polarization had the most consistent polarization of the bunch (inside a plastic frame) with the most pleasing and vibrant amber tint of all of them. The lenses make everything look like a vibrant warm sunset and the colors really pop. I really don't think Maui Jim has anything special except some trademarked words...

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks for your comment. To be fair, a Coppertone lens is a more specialised kind of tint - and if you've seen my other video my magma orange pair you'll know that I love amber in terms of the contrast and warm view it provides.
      Out of interest, what Maui lens colour did you try? And how did you test the inconsistent polarisation?
