    What do you think about our top Maui Jim Xl frames of 2022? Did your favorite make the list?

      Some of them looks good. But none of them is as good looking, as the Breezeways. It's a pity that they discontinued them. Is the Aviator style becoming less popular?

    They're becoming difficult to find but I like the Cook Pines for my big head

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  Před 2 lety +1

      Ahh the Cook Pines were a great aviator! With Maui Jim's steady flow of new releases, some frames get discontinued to make way for the new. Unfortunately, Cook Pines was a victim of this and they ended production in January of 2021.
      If you're looking for some similar options, we'd recommend both Castes (SFW 141) or Wiki Wiki (SFW 135). Both of these aviators share a likeness to Cook Pines, with Castles being a true XL, and Wiki Wiki being a bit smaller.

    Thanks for the big head info, it’s appreciated as always.
    It was mentioned that the World Cup has MauiBrilliant lenses. I believe these have the ST Glass (at least in non-prescription).

      Yes, in non prescription it comes with STG

      We do miss things from time to time and you're absolutely correct on this. The World Cup comes in Maui's ST-Glass for non-Rx. Thanks for the correction!

      Hello, sounds like you might need to go a tad bigger! The SFW of the World Cup is 142mm, look for frames in the 145mm range and up for a more relaxed fit. Here's a few models to check out!

      Hi! It's that very reason we came up with the SportRx Frame Width, also known as SFW! Click the link to learn more about this frame measurement! czcams.com/video/MGTuNILZVzE/video.html

    How does Kumu compare to Ohai? Love rimless varieties.

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  Před rokem +1

      Maui Jim Excels at Drill mounted frame designs, keeping them lightweight and relatively durable compared to other rimless styles. The Ohai is smaller with a lens width of 59.5mm compared to 64mm with the kumu. The Kumu is also a bit more wrapped at the sides where the Ohai's lens is flatter by comparison, though still allows for some wrap. The skull temples on the Ohai go straight back and down over the ear and the Kumus temples are much more curved going around the head without a bend in the arm piece like that of the Ohai. Both great frames, it ultimately comes down what works best for you!

    Non sports frames are often around 1.40+ cm across, why are sports frames always smaller?

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  Před rokem

      Hi Danny! The vast majority of frames are measured in millimeters. What ultimately makes up a 'Sports' frame is a combination of features that allow the athlete to see and perform at their best. Without the drawbacks associated with everyday glasses including frame slippage, fogging on the lens, lack of peripheral viewing range, etc. These frames come in a variety of styles and sizes to fit most athletes out there, no matter the sport. But if you're looking for a larger size, click on the link below for a collection of vids covering frames suited for bigger heads. AND if you have any questions, give us a call! 👇

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  Před 2 lety

      That is a great frame! The Local Kine has an SFW of 135 though, which is more of a men's M-L.

    No Maui Jim Equater on the list

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  Před 2 lety +1

      The Equator is an awesome frame to be sure, but in terms of SFW and our XL frame list, it was just a bit too small. The Equator has an SFW of 137 and fits a lot more snug than the Red Sands, which is the smallest frame we included here. If you happen to be right on the cusp of L/XL, the Equator is a great choice, just do yourself a favor and double check your SFW.
