  • In this video, we test and replace the rear wiper motor on an Audi A4 Avant 8K model which was manufactured from 2007 - 2015.
Common malfunctions of this part include the rear wiper not ‘parking’ in place and the rear washer failing to work, with brown water stains being found on the tailgate opening area as a result.
If left unchecked, water can ingress into the spare wheel/battery area from the washer fluid leaking from the wiper motor.
The wiper motor leakage is caused by a blocked rear washer nozzle or pipe, which causes the washer fluid to leak internally into the wiper motor, corroding the internals of the motor mechanism. The excess fluid leaks from the damaged wiper motor and ‘seeps’ into the spare wheel area, which can affect the battery and battery control module - causing multiple voltage-related faults with other control units if not rectified.

Brilliant! Had a blocked water spray at the back of my Audi A4 Avat (2010). Saw this and thought even I can fix that - 5 minutes later problem sorted. Just as well having seen what can happen if it is left to get worse! Thank you!

Thanks. My rear wiper has suddenly stopped in mid point and doesn't respond to the stork anymore. I'm going to give this a go!

unclip the panel.... oof - even with considerable force and after removing the 4 torx screws the rear-panel puts up a fight! any ideas??

Carefully, but with some force. You can also slide a trim removal tool behind the plastic trim panel and start to release the clips to get it started.

    Hello.
Is it possible that in winter when the viper is frozen and u make use of it, that the fluid can't be sprayed out and fill the pipes?
So can that fluid damge the tailgate by running back somewhere it doesn't belong?
    Greetings from Germany

Thank you for watching our video. This issue happens when the stagnant water and poor quality screen wash is used. A black sludge forms in the pipes. However, in winter and all year round using a good quality screen wash additive is advised to reduce this common problem with this model.
