- Government forces in Ukraine are trying to seize the initiative from Russian troops before the arrival of winter, with a counter-offensive is already under way in the south.
Ukrainians are now preparing to expand this tactic in the east to take back land lost in Donbas and around Kharkiv in the north.
Correspondent Quentin Sommerville and camera-journalist Darren Conway were given exclusive access to a unit of Ukrainian troops.

I felt so awful for the Ukrainian soldier at the end. I can only imagine his pain and not being able to be knocked out so you don’t feel it…kind of like coming out of major surgery and your anesthesia wears off, the sharpest pains I’ve had, but these men and civilians losing limbs, shrapnel wounds everywhere is a whole different kind of Hell on earth. It's unfortunate that the issue couldn't be resolved diplomatically, and it certainly doesn't justify invading a sovereign country, but Putin's excuse of national security has some merit. Unfortunately they are loosing big time, are you proud of what they did in the Donbas region since 2014, they have been shelling this area killing just over 15,000 people including 200 children, this region is primarily made up of 70% Russians, it seems that the Ukrainians hate the Russians whereas it was the Russians that built power stations and nearly all of the major iconic buildings.
