- Swanage 1st generation DMU moves from and to Eastleigh Works 04/02/2015.
We first see 37706 moving a class 108 to Swanage after it's overhaul for mainline use. At Wareham we see 37706 moving 3 class 117 coaches. These are spare part donors for the other DMU's that the Swanage Railway are overhauling in Eastleigh Works. These coaches will eventually be scrapped.
37706 & Class 108 DMU (54504 + 51933) working 5Z37 Eastleigh Works to Swanage departs Eastleigh Works.
37706 with 3 coaches from a Class 117 DMU (Regional Railways TCL 59492, Network SouthEast DMBS 51356 and Network SouthEast DMS 51392) working 5Z39 Swanage to Eastleigh Works arrives and departs Wareham.
I just shared this vid with my youngest who aged 4 was given a "driving" experience in the green DMU at the start arranged by her grandfather "fag and tea" Keith when we were visiting him at Harman's Cross one day, all I can remember was this young lad glaring at us from his seat looking through the glass divider... if looks could kill lol
It is very sad that the class 117 will be scrapped. I remember those from when I was a nipper.
Yes but the parts from the scrapped ones are going towards another Class 117 unit which will be used by the Swanage Railway. So not a complete loss 😀.
That is something, I suppose.
The regional railways centre coach behind the loco is now set to be saved by a fledgling railway in Somerset, with the driving cars from the chiltern sandite 117 set. One will return :)
So do I.
Bit depressing as I remember riding both 51356 and 51392 between Gospel oak and barking. Lovely old things.
Excellent channel, i subscribe. 😃👍
Nice video! A like from me!
Saw these at Brockenhurst =)
Great Video
Did it go in East yard then?
Christopher Addoo Yeah to run round.
Used to catch DMUs like these in the late '80s from Great Yarmouth to Norwich. They were horrible. They used to bounce around and lurch from side to side.
Old ScotRail centre car as well.
do these cars still exsist or have the been broken up now?
most likely broken up after their parts were donated
@@theextremeanimator4721 as of last year at least two of the 117 coaches still existed, and one's now set for a new career :)
@@theextremeanimator4721 there just been scrapped i think
Like how any locomotive can pull along an old DMU. Good old simple engineering, not like the rubbish we have now such as the Voyagers and their annoying and ‘good for nothing’ Delner couplings that aren’t compatible with anything except a highly adapted class 57.
ELPaso1990TX exactly and a lot of the old DMUs could operate in service in odd combinations with each other.
Where is it now?
I don't know about the rest, but i sure hope they did make it.
