i bought a 1970 yamaha cs3 pretty much identical to this at auction i feel very fortunate to be the custodian of it. one thing that is different is the things covering the exhaust pipes are black on mine which i believe is factory according to the pics on the owners manual i own

Hope you managed to find a kick start. Bike look nude without one.

  • @d17spud

Yamaha marketed the bike as a street scrambler. Big bro had one back in the day

  • @cainbeeping8480

Would love to have that one.

the C suffix relates to the high pipes/street-scrambler features. The were 3 models: UK/Europe/down-under got the CS3E (electric start) and those had shrouded suspension (front & rear) and mid-height handlebars. USA got the CS3B & CS3C. They still had electric start but couldn't realistically be called CS3EB and CS3EC. The B had rubber-gaiters on the front forks and exposed springs on the rear shocks plus apehanger bars. The C had same stuff as the B plus engine skid-plate, high pipes, braced handlebars and a different front fender. The E was (usually) Blue. B was Purple. C was Green

Check the Autolube tank to make sure you have 2-stroke oil in the tank. Do NOT foul those spark plugs.

    Nice. Real nice.

  • @AZVIDS

Man oh man did your friend buy a bike museum?🤔👍👍👍

  • @johnb5519

The carbs should be the first thing to pull and check for plugged jets. They could ruin an engine in no time.

strange that it's done less then 1000 miles and someone has been in messing around with (cutting/crimping) the battery wiring
