    Thank you and may the most high God bless you, Is the baptism we do as a baby in the Ethiopian Orthodox Church enough? Or do we have to do it again as an adult?

    So, what I understand from this is that your church teach that you get saved through the sacraments, works and faith? How many times does one have to parttake in communion in their life time? And how much/what kind of works is neccessary for salvation? Can anybody in your chuch be sure that they have done enough to be saved?

      Our salvation is a continuous it is not one time doing we will continue doing it through out our life as jesus said "one who persisted upto the end will be salvated."

    For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

      Because it is God’s gift, it’s something we don’t deserve but God being a loving one he offers us salvation…. Our works are one thing, what we deserve another. Hence he distinguishes the two phrases “not from yourselves” and “not from works.” Remember that there are faithful works that has to be displayed daily in services to the poor and other good deeds. . .

      “God’s mission was not to save people in order that they may remain barren or inert. For Scripture says that faith has saved us. Put better: Since God willed it, faith has saved us. Now in what case, tell me, does faith save without itself doing anything at all? Faith’s workings themselves are a gift of God, lest anyone should boast. What then is Paul saying? Not that God has forbidden works but that he has forbidden us to be justified by works. No one, Paul says, is justified by works, precisely in order that the grace and benevolence of God may become apparent!” - John Chrysostom

      @@MinaDKSBMSB keyword “SHOULD” that implies it’s not a requirement for salvation, it’s something we SHOULD be doing not to be saved, not to affirm or show we are saved or to stay saved, simply it’s the right thing to do, that we should do good works because our salvation is not reliant upon our works wither it’s good works or not. Salvation is faith in Jesus Christ alone.

      @@cometojesuschrist8665 of course. Is faith kinetic? Didn’t St. Paul tell us that faith works through love?

    But babies don’t have the free will to choose to follow so do we have to be baptized as adults??

    • @simretgetachew3719
      @simretgetachew3719 Před 11 měsíci +5

      Child baptism originates in the evangelical times, as depicted in the Holy Bible. In the book of Acts, eight families are recorded as being baptized. Notably, the Bible provides specific details about who was involved, which implies that it wasn't limited to adults only. For instance, Matthew 15:38 mentions 4,000 men eating, excluding women and children. This specificity suggests that the Bible would have made that distinction if only adults were baptized.
      Additionally, Jesus emphasized the importance of being childlike in one's faith, and elsewhere in the Bible, it's stated that baptism is essential for salvation. Therefore, both being childlike in faith and undergoing baptism are seen as necessary steps to reach heaven. If children are considered qualified to attain heaven through their childlike faith, it raises the question of why they should be denied baptism, which is another means of achieving the same end.
      Another point to consider is that we vaccinate children and provide them with breast milk, even though they cannot make these choices themselves. This doesn't mean we deny their free will; rather, as parents, we understand what is crucial for their well-being. We don't wait for them to comprehend the benefits of vaccination or breast milk; we act because we know it's vital for their physical survival. In the same vein, why should we question something like baptism, which is believed to be essential for their spiritual well-being? It prompts us to reflect on what children truly need more: the physical protection of vaccines and nourishment or the spiritual guidance that baptism is thought to offer. um, I'm not saying we shouldn't vaccinate them, but you get the point.

    Is there contradictions in the Holy Bible?

    • @simretgetachew3719
      @simretgetachew3719 Před 11 měsíci +2

      As an Ethiopian orthodox church believer, we firmly believe that the holy Bible represents the word of God, and as such, it does not contain contradictions. However, we are responsible for engaging with texts written by holy individuals who can provide valuable insights into what the Bible is attempting to convey.
      For instance, the Bible verses you mentioned, which highlight belief in Jesus and baptism as ways to attain salvation, are significant. But what about those who have never had the opportunity to hear the gospel? Does this imply that they are destined for hell? No, because in the case of such individuals, the Lord will judge them according to His own righteous standard, as indicated in passages such as Psalm 96:13, 98:9, Acts 17:31, and 2 Thessalonians 1:5. It's important to note that the Lord is impartial; He does not show favoritism, as emphasized in Acts 10:34. No one can deceive God based on their knowledge or perspective, for He thoroughly examines the depths of our hearts, 1 Samuel 16:7.
      Therefore, I recommend a deeper exploration of the Bible's teachings and seeking guidance from God to reveal His intended message.:)

      @@simretgetachew3719 that’s why there are missionaries and preachers all over the world preaching the gospel. And even if there are people who might pass away without hearing the gospel, that doesn’t change the fact about how we are saved through Jesus Christ. Just for clarification, I believe the Bible does not contradict itself, I just asked the question just to spark a conversation.
