- Today we take a look into the abandoned home of Mr. and Mrs. Smith and their 4 children. Mr. SMITH and his 4 boys were all part of different branch’s of the army. Mr smith served many years and peacefully passed away in the 1980s inside of the home. The 4 boys had grown up and moved all across America to live their lives and serve in the army. Mrs smith lived the last 10 or so years alone in the house attending church and teaching in a local school. She had a love for trinkets and definitely a love for her family. In 1999 she suffered a heart attack in the home and before medics arrived she passed away. She was loved by so many in the community but even over time the town itself has started to die and not many more residents remain. So join us today and let’s see what’s inside.

I may be crazy but when i see homes like this all i want to do is put it back together, pick up the trash that should not be inside the home, dust, clean and put everything back the way they had it when they were alive. I feel that is being very respectful.
OMG I thought the same thing. I wanted pick up the tiles that had fallen, dust and vacuum.

Sad to see the house left that way.
It's sad to think this woman devoted her life to raising her children to basically be forgotten. She died without her family around. The things she valued ignored by her family. Kids just don't care about family memories or heirlooms anymore. So many homes children grew up in or their parents passed away while living in are left to just decay. Memories left behind, family history lost.
Many precious memories can be recalled in using or having a parents things. I value the things I still have of my parents. Making sure to pass along what history I know about them.

No kidding! At first I thought well, I bet the kids just came and took anything of value and sentiment and left but as the video progressed it's apparent that they never even bothered. How sad that out of four children and an entire community that supposedly loved this woman not a single soul could be bothered to come take care of her possesions? Even to donate usable items to charity? So sad and such a waste.
I wonder why they haven't come and got that stuff 20 years ago seems kind of strange to just let everything rot maybe they don't care I don't know.???

RIP Mr & Mrs Smith. It would be cool if her grandchildren could find their way there and rescue the family photos.
I wonder if anyone from her community will see this, contact someone from the family & tell them. Maybe then someone from the family will wrap up the situation.
That place is full of beautiful things! The furniture and some of the trinkets and decor is just stunning and it’s sad to see them wasting away.

At least have someone else do it and then sell the property. I mean cars and everything there is like they never left. The kids should want to do something. It's just so heartless and sad for the parents who raised them. When my mom was dying, she gave everything to us before she died...it was so hard, but I'm glad she did it like that. Anyway, it is what it is.

I can't believe that all the items haven't been taken by vandals in this abandoned home. Looks like someone in the family would have come back to settle their mother's estate. Based on what this man is telling, this lady seemed like a precious soul.
The children may not be able to settle the estate yet. It may be going through probate still. Probate can take years, especially if the will is complex or contested by an heir/possible heir or if the legality of the will is questioned. Look at the examples of Howard Hughes and Anna Nicole Smith's husband's estates. Charles Dickon's novel "Bleak House" was based on an actual probate case that lasted a century and several generations of heirs before settlement. Until probate is finished and the assets distributed, they can't do anything with it.
Sometimes when I see these videos of homes you guys explore it truly hurts my heart. It's sad seeing these places and things just forgotten to time, it really serves as a reminder of my own mortality. Will my "treasures" and life that I lived be left behind this way as well? This one for no real reason just made me sad, especially seeing all of the family photos still on display in such a loving manner.

I have watched this several times I'm crushed by it...... so very sad.....maybe by now the children are older themselves. Maybe the people from the church have all passed on..

The lamp with the tall lamp shade and matching table...my mom had the exact set up when i was a kid. I kept this set until 2020 when hurricane Laura hit. I'm 57 yrs old and it was a treasure for me. I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos. You also have this wonderful respect and appreciation for these places. Keep up the good work!!!❤️

It's a sad thing that none of her sons would take the time and make an effort to retrive family documents, heirlooms, and other valuables. It appears that they didn't even try to sell the house, cars, and other items there.
So true, especially the old family photos 😢. But on the house, I imagine any prospective buyers would only have to hear that train once to know that would be a rough sound to have to deal with during the day and wayyyyy worse at night.

Keep in mind, there might be a reason for their not coming back. We just see a still moment in time in this house, we don't see what actually went on... it might not have been a happy home. We'll never know.

Looks like it was decorated in 1972 and pretty much stayed that way. Lots of calendars. As a military family, maybe some of the things are from places they lived. So many photos. Always a little sad. Nice explore.

This reminds me of my grandmother's and aunt's houses in the late 1970's. They all had that wood paneling installed my granny had those red lamps and a lot of that older furniture from the 1940s- 1970s mixed together. She also had a lot of the Home Interior stuff all over the walls, fake fruit with the scales and lots of plastic flower arrangements. I think this is where i get my love for vintage stuff lol.
This could have been my Nanas house!! She had a house just like this and I loved spending time with her. I don't like the new way people decorate so this was a treat to see. Great video!
What a sweet home. I love the Knick knacks-it reminds me of my grandmas house. As a military family I would doubt they would leave guns in the home. I know my son wouldn’t. It’s sad to think she died alone! Being a teacher she would be very organized-and the beds still made makes me think of my mom who was a teacher. Great explore. I love that you have history about these places. She must have been an awesome teacher.

Heartbreaking - I feel such sadness for the Smiths who probably worked hard all their lives to gather things around them that they loved. They would be so hurt that their things are left to rot.
God rest their souls.
I remember clearing my parents house and though it was so heartbreaking it helped me come to terms with our loss by using the objects to relive parts of their lives.
I think the worst thing is the abandoning of the photos. Perhaps they have no living offspring hard to know.
You show so much respect to the properties but it must leave a lasting impression on you .

This is got to be one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen. The house she took care of and loved is rotting and all her memories were be dust. 😢😢😢 it’s hard to understand out of four children, and who knows how many grandchildren, that no one was interested in any of the photographs, and so many other things she had kept. Not to mention that gorgeous furniture!😢😢
Makes me so sad. A whole life left to rot. 😢. I’m guilty of not seeing my parents as often as I should, but we forget what our parents did for us growing up, and then to just not be bothered to clear out your family home after both parents pass is sad to me.

Loved this house. I am going to be 70 in Dec. and I recognized a lot of the treasures she had. So very sad and heartbreaking that she died alone. Don’t know the kids but a lot has changed in the world.
Love this house! So sad to see so much left behind. Back in the day, that sunny yellow & avocado green were popular & the lamps are mid-century modern style in the living room area. So much reminded me of my grandparents house ! Love watching your videos

*As a little old lady not many people take my advice but I still offer it from time to time. When you visit places like this, especially when the owners are dead, it is always good to say out loud that any being in this house is not allowed to attach to you, or to follow you when you leave. Also keep in mind that if you take anything from the site, even a little insignificant pebble from the driveway you stand the chance of an entity being attached to it. I'm not saying you would steal anything, I'm just saying sometimes things I cannot explain will attach themselves to people or follow them back to where they live especially if you take a souvenir with you when you leave.*

I heard of that, also, if you buy stuff from yard sales or second hand stores. You don't know if something is attached to the items you are buying. That really scared me, that's why I don't go to second hand stores or yard sales anymore.

The is an old antique/thrift store near me I sometimes visit and near the back is an old bedroom set probably made in the 1940's, it's what they call waterfall furniture because the front edges are rounded over. The dresser has evidence the previous over was a little girl from the stickers and such. I swear every time I go to the shop and go near that bedroom suite I can hear a little girls voice. I never can make out the words because they are real faint but I can actually hear a girls voice when there isn't children in the building. I think the mirror in the dresser is a portal. I've seen flashes out of the corner of my eye that came from the mirror and I'd look at it and then look around and nothing in the store moved. That is the freakiest thing I've witnessed in a while*

I work as a handyman/ rehab for a local real estate investor and I go into homes like this quite often. You can really get a sense of someone's life and learn so much about them without ever meeting them.

This is EXACTLY a PERFECT example of a comfortable middle class family in thieir prime of life (45-50ish) in 1979. Oh yes, I wanted to add, that was back when there WAS A MIDDLE CLASS society. I, now at 52, see/live CLEARLY that "middle class" is a thing of the past!! There now is only the HAVES & the HAVE NOTS. This becomes clearer everyday to me, starting about 3 yrs ago especially became noticeable to me.
Loved this video but it brings so much sadness to think your life means so little to your family..I always think why do they never bother to come and collect photos etc of their parents...Sad she lived and died alone.
I pray the children see the video and make an effort to stop by and pick up photos and clean out that home before squatters take over.

I doubt any of those kids are coming by this house ever again. I’m sure there’s a reason they left it abandoned over 20 years after hearing their mom died there. I just wonder what that reason is.

I would assume they cared deeply for her. I'd give anything to see my grandparents home and how they lived... it looks like a lovely home, hopefully with beautiful memories.

Reminds me so much of my great grandmother’s house, which had like four generations of family go through, and they all passed away, and it just set for years when we finally went through it, it was definitely emotional, but such a cool time capsule to see throughout the years

Seeing videos like these are very sad. This just shows you that material things do not matter. Once you pass everything you have owned becomes nothing. They can sit for decades. Things you once thought you HAD to have, don't matter any more. Life is precious, cherish the ones you love while you still can. Great video, I like seeing things that have history to them and how things once were in the past. But, still sad at the same time.

Very sad that this house was left for so long without a trace of any family members who could claim the property and items inside. It’s also interesting to see a house pre-internet/technology era (looking at how the tv’s were, etc.) RIP to this couple 🌹🌹 I hope one day some family member will come forward - if not one of the children, another family member such as a niece, nephew, cousin, old friend, church member, etc., anyone this couple knew. This house should not be left and forgotten 🙏🏾 Thank you for showing and giving this house the respect it deserves.

One thing I don’t understand is how has this place not been taken by the county. Only because I recently learned that even though my country home and land is paid for, they can take it away from me if I don’t pay yearly taxes. I thought once it’s paid for, it’s yours. Period. Mind you, I’m an older lady who was married to someone that never allowed me to know about such matters as it was not my place.
I see many videos where beautiful houses are turned into specters of their former selves, overrun with weeds and what have you.. it’s something I don’t get. 😢
Somethings off about all the family photos, and other momentos. What children of anyone, would not have come to the home to take some of these family treasures? It appears she died, and no family she had, even bothered with any of it, or to come to their family home. Very strange. There's some unknown story here.
Early 70's decor. My grandma and Mom had many of these pieces. Love this video. She was a Special lady who loved pretty things. I hope the kids or grandkids see this and come back for the photos .Tfs.
Very 1970's, especially the coffee mugs and the ornate "retro" heavy furniture. Yellow and earth tones and lots of wood paneling. Nice comfortable house.

This one made me very sad I just don't get why family or neighbors or even church members don't have a yard sale for charity or something there is so much history and memories in these houses you would think if church people were all really good people to each other they would do something nice rather than let her history die alone

I cried during this entire video because so many of the items in this house reminded me of my mama who passed away in 1999 I saw several items in the living room area that mrs. Smith either purchased from a home interior sales person or someone else did and gifted them to her but I feel like she probably went to a friend's or neighbor's home interior party and purchase them herself. My momma had done of these same deco items. She wanted me to have her "rose" mirror as she called it and I have it hanging in my dining room now. Mrs. Smith had hers hanging in the living room behind one of the red lamps. Enjoyed your video just wish I could watch it without crying.
Sad that the children can not be located. The family would enjoy the photographs. I saw several things that were similar to my great grandparents home furnishings. ♥️

Not true. We live right next door! All of his information was incorrect. She didn’t pass away at home, that was my parents on the picture, not her! And he had no right to break into my grandmother’s home and go through her things so we will be pressing charges immediately!!!!

My mom and grandma called them figurines and they are placed on the what-not shelves.😉 This family probably had a good income because there are some very expensive pieces of furniture and the house was very beautiful at one time.
It breaks my heart that her children didn't come back for those photos. Heartbreaking. The stove was a two stove unit. On top was not a microwave it was on upper stove. My mom used to have one of those years ago.
I wonder if she has grandchildren. They would love that jewelry!

That there is a '74 Electra 225, a buddy in high school back in 2000 inherited his grandfathers '72 4 door, dark brown with a cream colored vinyl top and the big 455ci V8. Funny thing is the damn car was so heavy even with that big motor the only way to do a burn out was on a wet road or mashing the gas pedal while pulling out from a turn lol.

Wow! What a time capsule. A lot of the items in this home took me back to the 1970's. The red lamp shades that you liked, my mother had the same shades back in the late 70's except they were white and gold. My father recently passed and I was the lucky one who had to clean out his attic. Most of the items that was cleaned out were old files just like you found. In those days everyone saved everything, including old medical bills, pay stubs and what not. In those days they did not have computers to save our info to use as a reference.The old vintage jewelry was very big as well in the 1970's. It brought back memories of when I was a little girl going through my grandmothers jewelry box. A nice find, thanks for sharing.

Great video. I loved everything about that house! Also very heartbreaking that all the family photos and memories were just left behind by the family to rot with the house. Makes me very sad. Great video though...thanks for sharing!
