    Descent video: I will point out, however that you were tricked by the curvature of the magazine. They are both exactly the same length. Switch them around, and the other one becomes "longer". Stack them, and you'll see that they are the same length.

      Yep. I learned that from Hickok45 when he was messing around with the AK mags. Lol

    Good video but one thing u have wrong is that the new mag is shorter. If u set them on top of each other they are the same. It just looks thats way sitting side by side. Thats why the springs are the same length.

    The difference that makes it fit the SCAR is the cutout on the back of the magazine at the top where the bolt catch would hit. If you look at them side by side the G3 will have a larger open "U" shape area where the back of the top bullet in the stack sits

    hahaha I use to trick my soldiers all the time with the old "which magazine is bigger?" lol

    When I got my Gen 3 mags it also appears as if the waffle pattern on the body is a little more pronounced to give some more traction and maybe also rigidity. I was able to get them at $10 each plus shipping. I picked up 9 so it was it was like $104 shipped. So those plus my Gen 2 puts me at around 43-45 Pmags. I can never go back to aluminum mags after using Pmags unless I had no choice.

    My biggest gripe is the inability to attach the feed lip protector to the bottom. I liked that feature, even though it doesn't really help you outside the range.

  • @DQImaging
    @DQImaging Před 10 lety +2

    The inability to clip dust covers to the bottom of the Gen 3s makes them a deal breaker for me. Glad I saw this video before assuming otherwise before a purchase. I will be sticking with the lower priced Gen 2s for a while then.

    The larger open area is what makes it work in the SCAR

  • @jellyhead7044

    You missed in important improvement in the M3. If you notice the area directly over the mag catch indent, the M3 has a bit of raised plastic where the M2 does not. This is a VERY important improvement as the mag catch on some ARs WILL NOT hold the mag in place regardless of the adjustment. Yes I have one AR where this is a problem where all others I own are fine. The problem is more with the lower than the mag. On the problematic lower, the mag catch recess is not sufficient.

    i do like the Pmags but im sticking primarily with aluminum mags. i will mostly probably use the one 20rnd pmag i have as well as my aluminum mags but the 30rnd pmag will not see much love. they are great mags but they don't fit into my alice vest (originally for airsoft ar-15 but obviously works great for the real thing) and i like the dual purpose. also i feel some distrust with plastic/polymer mags (reminds me of cheap plastic toys) and how they interact with the internal workings. although they do work and i will try to overcome this even if i only plan to use 1 or 2 pmags regularly.

    • @zapf6987

      They push the stack down a touch so you can store them loaded without risking deformation of the feed lips.

    • @HatsuneM1ku01
      @HatsuneM1ku01 Před rokem

      Leave them loaded for a couple of years in a box then come back and tell us your still throwing them away. Anyways if you store your mags empty then what use are they. An empty mag is about as useful as a water bottle with no water

    Some constructive criticism: The camera was zoomed way to far in or you just were working way too close. It was hard and frustrating to watch because of this.

  • @brianunderwood7437
    @brianunderwood7437 Před 5 lety

    In a SHTF or WROL situation, I will never trust my life with a polymer mag. The only mags I trust in a life and death situation are NHMTG, D&H, and Lancer. Polymer mags are good for training, target shooting, and plinking. Lancer mags are part polymer, but the top of the mag where the feed lips are is made from spring steel. If you leave a polymer mag loaded in a hot vehicle during the summer, the feed lips will spread apart.

    • @mrjonnyblaze
      @mrjonnyblaze  Před 5 lety

      I'd have to disagree on that one. I've left full pmags in the hot AZ heat never had any feed lips spread.

      They are literally using these on front lines in the marines and special forces over in the Middle East. If they are good enough for those guys then they are good enough for anyone. Buy gen 3 pmags. They don’t have all these issues like the gen 2s

    • @HatsuneM1ku01
      @HatsuneM1ku01 Před rokem

      The marines wouldnt spend millions of dollars testing pmags and switching to pmags if they couldnt survive shtf because war zones are the most extreme version of shtf scenarios

    The Gen 3 colour says it comes in sand but the Gen 2 is called FDE. Are these colours the same? If I buy gen 3 mags will they match on my rifle that's all Magpul FDE?

    • @mrjonnyblaze
      @mrjonnyblaze  Před 9 lety +1

      They will not, FDE is Flat Dark Earth the sand are a almost off white color I just actually bought one today. the sand mags are THAT color intentionally so you can dye that mags to your wanted color. hope this helps.

  • @BlueSky-qv7cd
    @BlueSky-qv7cd Před 11 lety

    I have shoot several thousand rounds through the Gen 2 mags and they work great
    except I have noticed that they now do not always lock the bolt to the rear after the
    last round I am not having the same problem with the aluminum and steel body mags
    with anti tilt followers, considering the fact that a lot of mags out there will not insert
    into a closed bolt gun with 30 rounds in them, and trying to keep track of the mags
    you can put 30 rounds in or 28 is ridiculous.

It's the only thing I need to finally complete it without having to change my furniture to a different manufacturer.
