- Hello friends, today I wanted to share with you what a routine ovariohysterectomy (dog spay) procedure looks like, and some of the reasons why we do this procedure. This was filmed while I was still at vet school, and it shows you some of the clinical stuff (surgery, anaesthesia) that vet students get up to at Cambridge Vet School!
Mega thanks to Rob for allowing me to document Gracie's spay journey (Rob is one of the awesome farm vets in our farm department, who taught us SO MUCH about farm vetting, climate change, the environment and life!)

I am a recent veterinary medicine graduate from Cambridge university. I make videos to help pre-vet students get into veterinary school, how I am surviving vet school and trying to be the best version of ourselves.

Thank you for this channel. My daughter has always loved animals and continues to say she wants to be a veterinarian. We've incorporated your videos into her studies.
Thank you for watching that’s amazing!!
Wow this is amazing. I want to be a vet but I'm apprehensive because I don't think I'll be good at the operating. Were you nervous about one part of the veterinarian life? Love your videos too they're amazingly helpful.
When I first started I was not confident in surgery at all! The key is getting lots of exposure and practice when at vet school, on placements, when you start work.. etc. you’ll usually be supervised or assist other vets in the beginning, so don’t worry as it’s all about practice!
And thanks so much for watching ☺️
@@MayYean Thank you so much.
Wah...so awesome carrying out the procedure, excellence job !!!
Thank you.
Saludos desde Latinoamérica!!! Excelente vídeo
I'm a third year vet student, seeing stuff like this makes me excited but also makes me question my ability to do surgeries. I don't mind blood or anything, it's just that I haven't done anything like it before.
Great video 🔥🔥🔥
Finally a new vid from may *_*
me watching this at midnight after a spaying marathon of 16 cats. (also love your content, keep it up
Hey I’m hoping to study vet science at uni next year. What sort of bag to you recommend taking to class and practicals ? Love you x
Does anyone have any tips for the situational judgement test for Nottingham?
Yayy
Do they conduct IV tours in your vet school?
Hey! Great video☺️
I have a female dog, she’s 3 and a half years old. What are the risks of spaying her now? Is it too late?
Hey! Vet nurse here :) risks of spaying are the same as any surgery, but can be significantly minimized by running a pre-operative blood work panel before surgery, confirming that everything is normal in her blood (like clotting factors) and that her body can filter out the anesthetic correctly. It isn't too late! Get it done asap, so that as she ages there is reduced risk for pyometra, uterine cancers and mammary cancers, as stated in this video. :) hopefully this helps
Hi im also veterinarian girl such a very very effective video i want to learn work but i live in pakistan
