- Join me on an Ash log retrieval adventure. I use a Kioti 66 inch grapple on the front of my Kioti DK5320se compact tractor to get a nice load of logs for firewood production or possibly to use on the sawmill.
The grapple is a great attachment.
It is!
@@timbervisions I built one for my tractor when I first got my tractor for cleaning up branches around my property excellent tool
@@puddlejumper3534 they are like an extension of your hands. The grapple is on way more often than my bucket.
@@timbervisions forks are another great attachment. I like all my attachments really lol
@puddlejumper3534 agreed, those are on a good part of the time was well. My bucket is my least used attachment.
Yup, nice haul of wood Tim! I don't know if you said it and I missed it or not, but did that farmer cut the trees down? Did they die of EAB?
As you were talking about, not pulling a loaded trailer in high range with your machine, even though I've got a larger tractor, mine is a shuttle, not hydro, and it's three ranges, I don't think my machine would have even pulled that trailer of yours full of logs in high range. I've only used high range a few times, and that was to run it down the road to meet the semi delivering my chipper and stump grinder, but mine is geared so high that it has a hard time taking off in high without even pulling anything because it's geared so high. Good video!
Hey Jeff! The other guy who is getting the saw logs is cutting them down. He doesn't want anything past the main trunks or any of the small stuff. I think some did die of emerald ash boarer though, can't say for sure as he didn't tell me. I think partly he just wanted this area cleared, there just happened to be mostly ash in there.
Great video! I run a mahindra max 26xlt. Whether using my grapple or forks to move loads, I always worry about the stress on my front axel. I think of the tractor as a seesaw where I want the rear axel as the center point of the load so as not to overburden the front axel. I will even extend the boom on the backhoe for more ballast. I also always take the widest turns possible under load. Do you think I'm over cautious with my front axel?
Not at all. Tractors are expensive to fix and replace. I feel taking your time is the most important thing. Don't want things bouncing. That is extra stress. Thanks for stopping in!
