    Here’s my theory about why people feel so free to share. He’s so good with hecklers. Hecklers want to screw up sets. They aren’t interested in just having a good time unless they’re the reason for it. Rife knows that and his way of dealing with them is to make them his set. He can be comedic but has a likable personality to where he can develop a rapport where the heckler thinks they won. They think they “won.” So, he just asks questions and they answer. However, they end up giving him material. I saw a clip where some dude tried to heckle him but pretty much ended up revealing that he was there with a woman who wasn’t his significant other.

    • @gabrielmendoza3047

      Good theory. But the real reason is that its part of one of his bits “what are your red flags in relationships? He asks the audience and they bravely participate.

    I listened to him give an interview where he said that a couple of times in his shows, between bits, he leaves opening for crowd work. Those are the times he has fun, and there is a lot of back and forth and it ends well. But, sometimes people don't know to wait, they interrupt the set, and throw off the flow. Those are the people that he roasts mercilessly. He gives them chances to wait, but most of the time, they are so excited to have his attention, that they just keep going.

    He has tweeted asking women to stop getting too drunk to the point where they are annoying and ruining the show. He's very talented, especially with crowd work. If this good in his 20s, he'll be amazing when older with decades of experience.

    • @willvr4
      @willvr4 Před rokem

      I've never seen a straight male comic whose audience is predominantly young women. I watched his crowd work special and a bunch of his clips of crowd work, and it's ALWAYS women and quite often...drunk ones.
      He's even mentioned it before that he's tired of doing the "red flags" routine, because it's all his female audience members want to hear and he can't even get into his actual jokes. I think he's retiring it.
      He's talented, but it's kinda weird that women show up to his show because he's hot and talks to them, but you'd never in a million years see a guy go to comedy show because the female comic was hot. If she's not funny, people aren't going.. There's millions of hot girls who try to get into comedy, but have no talent.

    • @betsybabf748
      @betsybabf748 Před rokem

      @@willvr4 He's funny as hell, talented, quick-witted and hot so why wouldn't women go? That's not weird. That's BS that men wouldn't go to see a hot women, even if she was mute. There are also many very talented female comediennes killing it and building successful careers. To think there's not is inaccurate and a weird mentality.

I'm new his material but that's the vibe I get. He's got a whole special of nothing but crowd work called Walking Red Flags ( based on a bit he was well known for where he would tell funny red flags that he has in dating, then have the ladies in the audience yell out some of their red flags and improv off of it)

  • @guybrewin556
    @guybrewin556 Před rokem

    Hey, to answer your question about what is it that makes these people willing to open up and lay it all out there...
    I think it's two main factors;
    1st is that these days, quite a lot of comedy acts are interactive and involve speaking to audience members so a lot of people (especially the ones who're fans of his and know he frequently interacts with the audience) go expecting the possibility of being asked questions and are ready to talk - Though they probably don't expect to be SO open and to give such honest details...
    Which brings me to:
    2nd is his charisma, charm & face... His face is handsome enough to be disarming, bit the softness from his lips & eyes makes it seem warm and friendly rather than cold, sharp & intimidating as many handsome faces tend to come across... Combine that with his charm, his charisma and the way he leads the conversation results in them opening up more and more - Notice that often their answers start out simple and maybe a bit funny/joking (or at least trying to⁶ be funny), but as he and his charisma draw them out, their answers start getting longer, more straight forward, more honest/open & less 'funny'/joking - Which enables him to make jokes that are actually funny instead of the weak joke the audience member often tries to make out of their initial answers...
    Did that make sense?
    Sorry, I tend to rant and ramble, which often leads to it becoming more and more convoluted and making less & less sense, I hope you could still understand my point.
    In any event, those are the the two reasons I believe people end up opening up so much during the audience-participation type parts of the shows.

You should go to one of his show and ask him something and see if he can find something funny about what you say. Learn to laugh at yourself like you laugh at others. we all say and do silly things, and sometimes we dont see it till its pointed out to us.
