Yeah, I was pretty suprised, too. (Okay, I almost fell off the chair in the cinema. :'D ) But I was also really angry that he didn't played Gus, the security guard. I mean... are you kidding me? It would be genius! They had the chance to give him a new life and they didn't use it. In addition, the security guard says: "Mi casa es tu casa", wich is just the same thing Gus told Hazel the day they met. OMG. (And sorry for my English, it's waaaay not perfect... :D ) Okay? ;)

I love Ansel Elgort. I love that his favorite part of the movie was one of the saddest parts and most emotional parts. I love that he's a professor in the department of half smiles with a dual appointment in having a voice that makes my skin feel more like skin.

Honestly to me, he looks EXACTLY what I pictured Gus to look like. I guess everyone, when they read, pictures characters in their mind differently. So I understand when some people say they don't picture him as Augustus. Anyways, I'm so excited to see this movie, especially because Shailene Woodley and Ansel look exactly like what I pictured Hazel and Gus to look like! It's going to be great!

I am a bit disappointed that he plays Augustus, he is not my Augustus. But no one ever will be.
I would not say disappointed any more, i have seen him being interviewed and he seems to bring a lot to the role. i think i just needed to look into him a bit.

Unfortunately I didn't picture him as Augustus. I mean he's cute and adorable, but I don't find him as sexy as the book makes Augustus to be, you know ? I... Pictures someone similar to Leonardo Dicaprio when he was in titanic. Sexy, confident and raw... This is just my opinion, I hope he proves me wrong.
Okay, so I'm totally with you on this one, at least I was, initially... He doesn't look the part, TRUE. But he has the FEEL of Augustus Waters, the easy smile, the effortless charm, and a natural goodness. The thing is, on the sole basis of still shots of him and candid interviews, I was totally against the casting. However, I tried to see his previous work, such as in the 2013 remake of Stephen King's Carrie where he effectively plays Tommy Ross. He was ASTOUNDING. Watch Carrie, if not the whole thing, at least the prom scene, and you'll know that he can deliver a great Augustus Waters.
god, there was so much more to gus than just being a good looking guy.
I agree just mainly because he wasn't what I was expecting, but looks can get you so far. I think what really matters if Ansel can BE Gus, (even if can't be physicaly per se)...but he proved he could in Carrie.

So i had cancer about 6 months before this movie came out and I ended up reading this book in the hospital (I finished it when's I was in the ICU with a horrible fever). This book was wonderful and moments when I was sitting in pain due to one of my medications my mom would read me TFIOS and it would calm me. It was really funny however because I went to see the movie with my cancer support group because two of my friends were in the movie (CJ and Lexi) who are both in the first like 3 seconds of this video and in the cancer support group in the film. This just made me remember how important your righting was for me (and still is) almost 4 years ago when I sat in my own hospital bed.
