This song is forever linked to 9/11 for me because I was listening to it on repeat on my way to work that day. It was such a beautiful, blue sky day that this song seemed appropriate so I sang along to it all the way to my job that day and when I arrived everyone was in the parking lot crying and looking shell shocked and I had no idea what was going on. I remember someone asking me had I not been listening to the news. I went inside about one minute before the second plane hit which I saw because the television was on CNN still. Everything went from blue sky, beautiful September day to our world being changed forever. We sat there all day long watching the news reports ( I'm a hairstylist, so this was a salon) and being amazed when anyone actually came in for a service because this had become a day of national mourning. Such an awful day forever, forever linked to such an innocent song and yet everyone that ever speaks of that day remembers what a beautiful day it started out as. The most goddamned beautiful day.
The singer's cousin died in the plane that hit the Pentagon. And the singer's father had previously worked in the Pentagon on the side that was hit by the plane. Everett mentions in his autobiography that he wondered whether the plane hit his father's old office.
Jesus more important things have happened other than 11th September 2001. You Americans need to get over yourselves and your own sense of self importance. Who fucking cares.

If I recall correctly, E's father was one of the physicists who started developing the ideas of multiverse type mumbo jumbo. All of a sudden that word "multiverse" is everywhere!
If you really want to know how good this song is, I suggest you really take a road trip by bus and listen to it on your phone with earphones, then sit back and listen while the bus drives around the countryside. Trust me, it's really worthwhile!
Yeah I agree, but listen to it while taking a road trip on a motorcycle. Also Chiquitita, while scraping the pegs on your favourite motorbike. Sparks coming off the pegs, beautiful non-highway scenery and your favourite songs ✌️
Classic 💯❤️🔥🎶 Interesting Fact: In his autobiography, Mark Everett states that letting the song be used for Road Trip is one of the few real regrets he has ever had. He only agreed to it because the record company threatened to not release the album if he did not go along with doing the music video, and at this point the album had been on hold for over 7 months. He hated shooting the video, and he had never actually seen the movie.
Mark (E) never wanted this song on the film and didn't want to participate in it whatsoever. Dreamworks label said they wouldn't release Daisies Of The Galaxy unless he added this song onto the album and participated in the music vid for this film. E has stated he hated making this video, and didn't even bother to watch it until 2008. Interestingly, it's not entirely his own song either, the main riff is sampled from a 60's group called the McCoys ''I got to go back''. He had a similar problem with a TV ad using his song ''I like birds'' without his consent.
Apparently the band were opposed to 'Road Trip' using this song, and were pretty much blackmailed into partaking in the video. Good song and good film though.
Yep. I've been reading "Things the Grandchildren should know" and just got to the the part about how Mark was forced to take part in the video. I'm cringing.

Movie is a clasic one for me. I had it on VHS back in the days. And we only had 1 PC in the family back in the days so i used to watch this movie like everyday. I still watch it sometimes, such a great cast also. They look like they've had fun doing this amazing movie. I miss movies like this before woke-culture destroyed comedy. Todd Phillips said the same, Todd Phillips is such a legend for directing this movie, hangover movies, old school, due date and much more comedies. Him and Judd Apatow is the goats of this comedy-era from like 1999-2016. RIP fun comedy you made me laugh so much.
reading E's memoirs at the moment and he really hated making this video, which shows. hated the film road trip and didn't want to be associated with it, but the record company made him do it
Same here Keith :) it's quite amazing to be able to time travel just searching for the video while reading E's experience, also reading people's comments about their own memories with this song... I was like 5 y/o back then!
Wrote it in 5 minutes apparently and only because the record company wanted a commercial hit. He delivered. All the better for us! Great song, great band, great man Mr E!!!
He must suck as a person. The cast was filled of amazing actors who were funny and they looked like they really liked eachother also in this video. Eels must've been a boring dude, he should thank the film for making this song big. I woudlnt heard of Eels if it wasnt for this movie that ive watched probably over 500 times since i had it on vhs as a kid and still can turn it on. Classic movie, legendary cash they had in it.
