1975 Europeans All Around summary

Summary of the women's All Around competition at the 1975 European Championships featuring Nadia Comaneci and Ludmila Tourischeva. Nadia wins the gold medal in the all around. Nellie Kim wins the silver medal.

Tourischeva didn't medal in the AA. This must have been a huge blow for her. I wonder what kind of mindset she was in going to the Olympics in 1976.

Tourischeva said in an interview in 2020 that she was suffering from the flu, and wanted to withdraw from 1975 Europeans, she was also just physically exhausted from all the training. Her coaches and federation refused and forced her to compete. This led to her downgrading some key events and also led to her less-than-stellar performance. You can see she nearly fell off the beam on her double-roll series. A series she had done for years with no issue.

Be Graceful, retire as Sir Jackie Stewart's intention, as A World Champion, with 100 Grand Prix races, that never happened. His Team mate was killed in qualifying, and Jackie just walked away away. Heart broken.😢😢❤❤, and didn't race.❤1973.
