Sadness didn't mess up in the first movie, she was compelled to touch things because Riley was sad, but Anxiety was sabotaging things - I still like that she wasn't depicted as the villain in this.
EXACTLY, I feel like people don't fully understand what's happening because of the emotions being personified. Sadness feeling compelled to touch those memories was because they're MEANT to be sad... moving away from home, your old friends, and all the places you used to go and play are gonna make you sad and that's okay.
@@BailBonds-d1j Anxiety is not the VILLAIN, but rather the ANTAGONIST, there's a difference. Even though Anxiety went about changing Riley the wrong way, her intentions weren't for herself, but for that of Riley.
Sorry to correct you, but the destruction of the Islands of Personality was just as much Joy's fault as it was Sadness, both of them had their flaws that justified their journey to change. Sadness was too impulsive and nosy, but Joy was too controlling and egocentric. Both of their biggest flaws were what led to the destruction of Riley (at the insistence of Anger's blind rage yet was never ill intentioned all the same), yet their biggest strengths made them learn their lessons and work together.

The core memories were meant to be touched by Sadness, as she did during the last couple of scenes at the end. Sadness wanted Riley to feel sad and mourn over their moving to a different place, that's why she was compelled to touch the core memories at the beginning, which Joy prevented many times. Riley's Mom told her to keep smiling and be happy despite the moving truck being delayed from transferring their stuff and her father having undefined trouble at work. Joy felt that pressure to be happy which drove her to suppress Sadness from doing her job.
My favorite from Riley's emotions are Joy, Disgust, Envy and Embarrassment also since it's almost fall when it comes to Halloween movies the top 3 I recommend you watch are Hocus Pocus (1993), The Haunted Mansion (2003) and Hocus Pocus 2 (2022) 😄🤞🏻🧡🖤🎃🎥

Precisely, if anything, it was Joy who was actively trying to sabotage Sadness that led to being expelled from Headquarters by accident.
