I’m so glad that you took your break if that’s what you needed, and glad to see you back and excited! These are so beautiful and I think versatile. Even though I only started coloring with colored pencils this past Christmas, I’m starting to do line and wash with watercolor, then going over with pencils as I was getting too impatient with just using colored pencils.

Hi Mandy! Sorry I was away so long. It was good for me though. I’m definitely enjoying learning about the watercolor medium, although I haven’t actually created a painting yet! Lol. I’m still just watching and absorbing the knowledge. Soon though! And until then I’ll be back with another coloring video. ❤️❤️❤️

So many good watercolors out there. Karen.. I would order the Daniel Smith confetti dot cards and give those a try..both the primatek and regular colors. Very fun way to try Daniel Smith and see what you like. The dots are so big you can actually do little mini paintings with them if you like. The primateks are all granulating. I too fell in love with granulating paints. I don't like the scminke super granulating paints as I find it gimmicky. When watching a swatching video of them I realized most of the line are all made from a few select pigments. Most are made from ultramarine or some other common pigment that I already have so why not mix your own and have the ability to play with colors and specialize them to your liking? I have fallen in love with Daniel Smith paints and have learned to mix alot of there special colors myself from a few staple pigments. There quinacrindones are just to die for. I guess what I'm trying to say is mixing your own helps you learn things very quickly that you otherwise wouldn't learn just buying speciality paints. I'm so excited you are learning watercolor! Its a process but a fun one to be sure. The hardest thing about watercolor is controlling the amount of water on your brush, the paper and in the paint. That is why people say it is the hardest medium to master. Water is constantly evaporating. That and you have to know your pigments and what each one does and how it reacts to other pigments. So alot of playing, studying, mixing and swatching as a beginner. I learned alot in a short time from in the studio art instruction channel. She's like no other teacher I have ever seen.
Thank you! I actually have the DS dot card and am in the middle of swatching them. I found I love the Quinicridone and Pyrelene colors very much!!! I am experimenting and trying to see if I can come close to some of his colors. Yes, water control is the most difficult for me. But I’ll get there!!

AI will never be able to replace the true talents of human artists in my opinion, but I can sure understand your sadness. 😢
They really are sooo fun! As far as AI, unfortunately it already is replacing human artists in a lot of commercial areas. It’s also spreading into music and literature and even being used to write college papers which is something that will have huge long term ramifications. But I’m trying to ignore it and continue finding my own joy!

I’m right there with you as far as the AI goes. It’s taking over the coloring book world. Very frustrating! It’s hard to find a book now that’s not. I started reading to get away from it all too.
It’s crazy Phyllis! I’m slowly leaving all the coloring groups that are allowing it and only staying with ones that support human artists. It’s a shame because 1 in particular was my first ever group and until recently have always been very strict regarding copyright and even wouldn’t allow photo turned Greyscale to be posted. I’m going to keep in my lane and try and be joyful anyway ❤️❤️❤️
