And I never said people from [insert area] all speak exactly the same way. All I said was “accent”. It sounds like he has one of the MANY accents that can be found in the south of England. Your voice doesn’t affect your pronunciation, your accent does. Then there’s also speech pattern (or whatever name has already been given to this) in which you speak like either a roadman, a posh man, or somewhere in the middle.
I recommend the audiobook because he reads it himself. I was also amused to learn in the first chapter that his childhood is a bit more like Ron’s than Draco’s.

That she is maybe being gracious in those interviews, rather than saying what others have said, that he was actually a bit of a jerk at the time? Tom Felton has "joked" about bullying some different fellow actors in the series, but in his book described himself as "ashamed" about having bullied her. (I do have compassion for him though, as it appears he was bullied outside his acting life because he was playing such an unlikeable character)
