Just came back from the Philippines in Boracay and Puerto Princesa. First time and love it. Beautiful, friendly, humble, hard-working people. Will definitely go back to explore more of the beauty of these islands. Love your channel and the chemistry you have with Tim the ATM machine.

Some people may be thought to be "shy" but actually, they would be happiest to get into conversations with you everyday if not for the language barrier. 😊😊
Why are filipinos so westernized? Selina Lopez sounds like the name of a spanish or mexican lady. What happened to the filipino names and filipino culture? As a foreigner I feel most filipinos adopt western names and put western especially American culture on a pedestal. Shame really.
@saluki The Philippines was colonized by Spain for more than 300 years, and was forced to changed their names to Spanish sounding ones via a decree by the Spanish government, then Americans came and colonized the country for 50 years and taught the Filipino people the English language.

@@lostlucy3 Wow that is quite interesting I knew that it was colonized by Spain and the USA but not for that long a time, I believe the name Philippines came from King Phillip of Spain. Most times there would be an insurgency against foreign occupation in most places, I come from a part of the world that resisted colonization. We didn't name our children Jean-Pierre or Louis, we retained our culture and identity even though we didn't have independence or sovereignty.

I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Southern Leyte some 15 years ago. It was the best 10 days of my life.
I stayed at Peter's Dive Resort and did some fantastic dives. I drank some beers at that very same beach. I have an ex-pat friend who has built a wonderful home in Pansil(sp?) near wishy-washy beach. He is the "other" white guy you might find in town, Neil "Jungleman" Hoag, and he has written a couple of books about his lifestyle on the island.
Lechon, means "roasted". So you have Lechon Manok (chicken) and Lechon Baboy (pork). I like the pork, roasted over coconut husks.I think I even recognized the house that you were staying at.

I love southern Leyte and I will be always be proud growing up in a such wonderful place. I've been there twice "Tangkaan beach", Padre Burgos was one of my best childhood place also especially in " Cor" where my aunt lived. It's been 6 years since I had a vacation there and I missed everything in So. Leyte.
