Playoff Jimmy Butler and the Era He Exposed

- Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat have fallen short of their ultimate goal for the second time in two years. And while he has never won it all throughout his career, Butler has somehow earned the name, "Playoff Jimmy," through nothing but will and determination that is exposing the entire era.

The fact that Heat and Nuggets didn’t have padded all stars in their roster has proved that stacking your team with sexy names doesn’t always equate championships. I always believed in the one two punch, two stars and good role players.
And it made for better basketball.
You don't need the best players to win, you need the right players and both these teams played a higher quality of basketball than what we were subjected to in the regular season.
It was an awesome post season.
Sexy?🤔
It just makes your team drip with ego problems.
The Nuggets unofficially have 2 All-Stars -- Jokic and Jamal. Jamal definitely played like an All-star this postseason. I'd be shocked if a healthy Jamal doesn't make his first ever All-Star game next year.
Thats literally every finals since 2020..
Jimmy Butler was an absolute demon against the bucks
One of the best series I’ve seen in at least 10 years.
But turned into an angel in the finals 😂
@andyvelasquez9488 made it to the finals wit no superstar
@@andyvelasquez9488 Got hurt in NY, but go ahead. Never stopped taking responsibility and never gave an excuse. Sure, he could have come out wearing his girls scarf around his ankle in the press conference...real dogs dont do that. Accept the loss, move on, work on getting better.
Jimmy tends to burn out as the season progresses.
Nice concluding words. Nothing but respect and love for Jimmy and this Heat squad for doing more with less. The willpower that Jimmy and Giannis have is a rare treasure in the NBA.
I hope Luka stops whining all the time and plays defense, because he’s definitely got that dawg in him too
the NBA usually models itself after its champions. Bird and Magic's team-oriented play in the 80s, Jordon's isolations in the 90s, Duncan's defense in the 2000s and Steph's 3-pointers now.
if the league models itself after Jokic and Jimmy, the glory days could return...but I think this generation is more like Ben Simmons than Jimmy Butler.
I concur this comment
Sadly, I agree with you. Hopefully Jokic, Giannis and Butler lead us to a new dawn of nba hoops.
Butler is not a champion and has only been to the finals 2 times.

I really respect Jimmy Butler. One of the few admirable guys this era with an “old school” mentality.
I liked him here in Chitown also and wish he would have been this in shape and was this good when he played with the Bulls. I still make fun of anyone who starts talking about themselves in the 3rd person tho like Jimmy does. 😝

Jimmy butler deserves a ring atleast he went to 2 finals appearance carried a 8 seed
I really hope to see him win a title sometime soon.
Exactly but they trying to talk shit about em after he lost
Nah
Jimmy was great through the playoffs they shouldn't have been in the Finals, problem was they went up against a team that most definitely should've been there
So did Patrick Ewing
Great video as usual.
What's impressive about Jimmy is the fact that unlike guys like Harden or Embiid, he actually elevates his game in the playoffs.
Like other all time greats(MJ,Kobe)

Somehow there will be a narrative about how Jimmy Butler sucked this playoffs because they couldn't get it done. Even though the Heat beat the number one and two seeds on the way to the Finals. All the credit to him.
Jimmy B went to the finals surrounded by a bag of peanuts! The man gained more respect than anyone of his so-called superstar contemporaries, he clearly ran outta gas, but let's be clear, nobody was beating this Nuggets team four times this year.
even though the Heat came up short in the finals, the way they battled from play-in to the finals was fkn amazing. beating bucks and celtics on the way to the top, champion in my book!
That was a great tribute to Jimmy.
In L.A. I couldn't give less than a damn about Miami, but THAT was an unforgettable run that any hoop-head can appreciate!
Nba needed these 2 teams in the finals. Both very much underdog stories. Sad for jimmy he didnt win, but happy they made it there to begin with. Their run was greater than lbj winning rings in miami

I feel blessed to have become a Miami Heat fan. Thanks to Jimmy Butler and the other players on the team, it shows that hard work and teamwork can actually do something still. It is a breath of fresh air to watch a group of guys pull together. I wish them the best of luck and I think Jimmy Butler is an excellent player and person.

Another fantastic video, skap!!! Thank you for all the time you put in to bring these to life ^_^
Your vids bring a tear to my eye. Oh how much I miss the old NBA and the players who didn’t give a damn about stats and just wanted to win the right way. I stopped watching NBA over ten years ago and quite frankly I don’t miss it for all reasons you list in your vids. Continue the great work! 👏👏👏

I hope Jimmy gets at least one ring. Him and Bam are underrated duo but the Heat need better depth.

ANOTHER FIRE UPLOAD! 🔥

Jimmy was storing power during regular season, and only woke up in the 2nd playoff game. He needs to be more consistent.
Excellent, fair, and balanced assessment with a great pinch of humor. Always enjoy your videos.
I think the reason why Jimmy wasn’t playing as well in the finals is because he simply had weak legs not just cuz the ankle injury. Look at game 6 in the 2020 finals he just didn’t have enough in the tank anymore. He started off extremely strong in the bucks series. But as he kept playing over and over talking only one day of during games he started to slow down and once he rolled that ankle with the Knicks well…. You know how it goes
I’m hoping this dude gets one. Rookie to now…has done nothing but improve his game. 💯
This Heat team led by Jimmy is by far my favorite.. I've been a Heat fan since D.Wade era (2003)
Your channel is awesome, with your consistent and hilarious roasting of NBA stars you are a great replacement for Bootum Bootum ever since he stopped uploading
Jimmy Butler leading an 8th seed to the finals a fringe all star, all-nba player doing that we may never see something like that ever again he has heart, and that DOG in him, even while playing thoguh an ankle injury he suffered in game 1 against the knicks he didnt make that an excuse for him not playing as well, he still showed up and did his job giving every last blood, sweat and tears to will his team to victory, wish more players were like him
Great job on another gem, Jay!
The Kawhi Leonard laugh is such a classic 😂
I love your videos. Funny, edgy, and entertaining to watch. Also they resonate with me
Saw this somewhere on the internet but I agree completely. Butler isn't nearly at his level, but he'll may up being the Barkley of this NBA era. A great winner for his teams, but sadly never able to go over the hump. Hopefully not, since he's a winning team basketball player, but it seems like a possibility.
I think the makeup of the NBA is such that it will be extremely difficult to envision the butler winning one. With that said, if they’re able to add Lillard or even Beal, I think they’ll be viably in the mix.
@Skap Attack For sure. I'm happy the new CBA is anti-super team and levels the playing field for clubs and players but I'm sure lots want to see the Butler get the Larry O'Brien gold!
Keep the vids coming Skap! Good stuff.

Great video as usual man, I came across your channel a month ago and have been enjoying the consistent uploads with a different perspective than the sports MSM. I grew up watching other sports and only started watching basketball in 2019 (I live in Toronto so couldn't help it at the time). The way the media glorifies some players and doesn't talk about others at all still perplexes me but their agenda is clearer to see now. Keep up the great work, looking forward to more great content!
Skap is the 🐐. The best person on youtube offering NBA analysis hands down
I have to show respect to both teams and their stars. This was a great run for the Heat, something that they can build off on. For Denver, they can continue on and hopefully keep the same team or add on to what they have, to possibly make this team a dynasty.
i'm liking your stuff before watching it cuz i know it's gonna be good
You are the only independent voice looking at Jimmy’s run to the finals the right way. All the other notable independent voices like dreamerspro and 2raw4sports are all echoing the voices of big media. So well done 👍.
Dreamerspro 🙄
Jimmy is like a poor man's Mamba Mentality!!
In a league of over paid coddled cry baby super stars... Jimmy is breath of air.
The Heat and Nuggets are perfect examples of well run, well built, well coached teams... A spit in the face to the Le GM, big three, 'superteams' that have plagued the league for a decade now.
For a decade?? ok..2014 Spurs, 2015 & 2022 Warriors,2019 Raptors,2020 Lakers,2021 Bucks, and now the Nuggets...All these teams I named won and were not superteams..That just leaves 2012 & 2013 Heat,2016 Cavs who beat a Warriors that was 73-9,then 2017-2019 KD Warriors,any other superteam failed to win..From 2013 to 2023 only 3 superteams won

Jimmy also forces the issue when he's taking it to the rack instead of passing it out to the chuckers at the first sign of resistance in the paint. Hence all the free throws.
Totally agree. One of the remnant “alpha” type guys left today.
Can't wait to see your new video 😄
Himmy (no “J”) Butler. He disappeared so much, I forgot he was even playing.
Kawhi’s laugh was used perfectly lmao

Hoping for another nuggets vs heat finals and a start of their rivalry.
I agree. Giannis first, now Butler and Jokic have all proved that team stacking like LeBron has done and made fashionable, is the weakest and most fraudulent way to win Championships.
Okay... after taking a step back and listening to context, you're right. He shouldn't be bashed as if he was Lebron, KD, Steph, or Giannis. Jimmy wasn't known as a superstar and he really didn't have the pieces to contend, though the effort was there. Not having Tyler Hero avg. 20 points alone says a lot. So you right. But it sucks because he talked all that stuff to win us over. He gave SUPERSTAR like performances. He definitely generated a "believe in Jimmy Buckets" campaign. He really fooled us, and that'll be remember for a while.
Yea I mean ultimately his performance to get them out of the East with the players he had around him was unbelievable. I don’t think anyone in the NBA this year was going to be able to beat Denver in a 7 game series. I would be interested to see Butler with a viable top 25 player next to him.
@@skap_attack I don't think any team in the West could beat Denver, but I think a couple in the East could have before Miami. It's hard to think that Boston, Philly, and Milwaukee wouldn't have beat them. Those teams run a way different offense than Miami, and arguably play a much better interior defense. But because Miami actually beat 2 of those teams, it leaves that statement up for debate. Only thing I know for sure and can say is, had Jimmy not folded as hard as he did we'd be looking at a game 6 and possibly 7.
@@skap_attack And definitely wouldn't mind seeing him with a top 25 player, and another a big besides Bam whose not really "big".
@@StCropper I think the ONE “would have” we can throw out is this: if Giannis never got hurt, I think they would have won that series against Miami. Now he did play in game 4 and 5 and the bucks choked badly. He wears some of that blame. But he missed 3 games and was still hurt in 4 and 5. If he was healthy, I think the bucks might have won the title. Also if Middleton wasn’t out all postseason last year, it’s feasible to say Giannis might have just 3 peated.
@@skap_attack agreed

I am not a Heat fan but you have to be a Jimmy Butler fan. I think he does it the right way and you have to respect that. They made a hell of a run.
This run to the finals thru the Tatum/Brown led Boston Celtics is just confirmation that the Celtics are a flawed and leaderless team. It's basically the same team that Lebron and his Cavs beat to advance to the 2018 Finals. Now five years later the Celtics still haven't won anything AND have fallen to this Heat team twice and narrowly escaped a gm 7 just last year. It's no wonder that a prime Lebron with no undrafted players was able to defeat them in Tatum's rookie season.
Brilliant take 👏
Spot on.
It's the softest era of basketball in the history of the NBA. There's no handchecking, players can palm and travel at will and there are literally no bigs in the lane whatsoever to ever block anybody's shot so it's an offensive free for all. Scoring 30 points or getting 10 assists used to actually be really difficult and it meant something. Now it doesn't. Hell Russell Westbrook averaged a triple double for a season. That would have been completely impossible back in the 80s and 90s. The league is pretty much a joke now.
Jimmy butler is going to be remembered as the greatest playoff performer

LeBron should barely have 2 rings. He keeps stacking the deck to help his 'legacy'. But channels like yours expose the truth of this choke artist. The Heat and Butler certainly overachieved this season, and that's what made them so easy to root for, instead of a stacked team. Still, I'm glad Denver and Jokic got this one.
I couldn’t have been happier with the finals matchup this year. I also love Giannis because he too is just a humble, hard worker in a small market that never cries for more help. I think after a decade of darkness, we might be coming into the light in the NBA.

Didn’t he hurt his ankle in game 5 of the knicks series? It would make sense as he was an absolute beast up until that point and from then on wasn’t the same player. If so, that really sucks as it would have been amazing to see him keep that level of play up throughout the entire playoff run. Btw, I literally do think he’s Jordan’s son lol
He did get hurt. But like a true alpha, never used it as an excuse. I admire his mindset.

Of one the best playoff runs ever. Among the greats runs of 03 Duncan, 12,18 Lebron, 91 and 93 Jordan, 94 Hakeem, 01 Shaq. Jimmy’s run is close to theirs perhaps even Jokic’s run is one of the best ever
To me, it shows how weak teams are in the modern NBA nowadays. A team like Miami had no business escaping the first round much less going to the finals. So called “elite” teams like the Celtics aren’t that elite.
As a sport fan not a team fan i really would like a kind of rivalry between him and Joker like 80s Magic bird
I wonder what happened to him after game 3 against Celtics., He's never been the same since then.. he would've been a huge help in the finals if he was playing like he was against the bucks
Though they lost, they were the best underdog of all time. Went from one loss away from being knocked out of the play-in to making the finals. No one saw this coming.
Jimmy Buckets should never had been traded from the Bulls but Gar and Pax didn't know how to build around him. What an incredible run by the Heat they may not have won the title but they were close
Miami Heat you need Butler to be your number 2 of 3 to be a champ
I don't get it, people acting like this dude is an all-time great, this year's final exposed him. He's a good player but he's not great
Jimmy needs more help. He was not good againt Denver but he was a monster in the other series. I really like Jimmy
Jimmy blew it again
Maury: Michael, you are NOT the father
Exposed this era by perhaps proving that competition is weak. An 8th seed showing how other seeds weren’t as good as they thought they were due to the lack of competition in their schedule
Saying that Jokic was an underdog that came out of nowhere, while the mam has two back-to-back MVP's , has to be the worst take I've heard.
Jimmy needed a little more help he carried the HEAT on his back
I don't think either one of the Finals runs were that improbable. In the West the better teams lost their first-round series. They kind of made an easy path for teams like the Lakers. In the East there was some of that two, but there were a lot of mid-playoff injuries. We made a big fuss of Butler's run, but he was kind of up and down during the playoffs, and they almost let Boston come all the way back.
Jimmy disappeared in the finals pretty much.😮
Dude just speaking truth!
Anytime people make enough noise they get noticed. Jimmy is a good player but he makes a lot of noise.
“Where even this guy had playoff success” bro what😂 Lebron made ecf 12 times second most in nba history behind the great Kareem’s 13. 10 nba finals appearances. And the second most fmvps per series win, at 4 behind the great Jordan. For someone who says he breaks down Lebron with “facts”. You sure do the opposite a lot, and just throw out casual remarks like this. If you’re so confident in him being overated why is he on your mind every other vid you make
Exposed what?
The dude is 0-2 in the NBA finals
Lmao 🤣😂
Butler shouldn't be expected to be the first offensive option and play like a top-10 all-time player; those are unrealistic and unfair expectations for anyone but a GOAT candidate. The fact that he catches fire in the Playoffs without co-stars and against the most formidable opponents shows how hard he plays.
