      @@marxismarxismarx3688 and btw im struggling on how to figure out the u boot system, are they proper units or just bonuses for strategic warfare?

    • @marxismarxismarx3688
      @marxismarxismarx3688  Před 4 lety +1

      @Arthur Daffos They're not technically naval combat units. They can be used to modify die rolls in strategic combat or in naval combat. After use the marker returns 1d6 turns later I beleive. In this playthrough, the Axis was using the subs for strategic combat as much as they could.

      @@marxismarxismarx3688 ok thank you for the infos, i play it on tabletop simulator (pc game), but the rules although optimised to be straightforward are very difficult to learn. Final question: from an opening stand point do you think it could be a viable strategy to go after ussr first?

    • @marxismarxismarx3688

      @@arthurdaffos1490 Personally I've found the rule set for USE to be very intuitive. I think it's a great game for exploring what if scenarios and alternate histories. I've played a few games where the axis turns east first. The game's design allows for the exploration but as far as whether any particular strategy will tip the scales dramatically one way or another, I havent seen it. Very balanced. Also, there are a cool set of optional rules available on bgg and gmt website, (maybe both? Not sure.) that allow for even more alternate plays.

    I noticed one major error. In 6.2.3 Air Support it is said: "The air unit must be of the same nationality as the defending unit
    or one of the attacking ground units" so British air units cannot support French ground units.

      Thanks for checking it out, and also thanks for bringing this up. I'm aware of the cooperation rules I just decided to use a variant allowing air cooperation. I should probably have mentioned it in the video. As far as balance I think it will help create a alternative narrative but it won't unbalance things. The Axis will have the same opportunities to cover their allies. I will definitely cover this and other things in the next video. Thank you again for tuning in!

    Hey!!...great fluid playthrough!!...I am just getting going with Unconditional Surrender Case Blue which basically it's a zoomed in version of the bigger brother. I am new to the split personality thing and was wondering if you could share a few tips/tweaks of your solitaire flow. I know that there is no AI for the game but some solo tips might help making USE less intimidating to me. Thanks in advance and congrats for the well made playthoughs!!

    • @marxismarxismarx3688
      @marxismarxismarx3688  Před 4 lety

      Hmmm how to have multiple personalities...

    • @marxismarxismarx3688
      @marxismarxismarx3688  Před 4 lety +1

      This is a tough question for me to answer. Most of the time I am just winging it. The biggest thing is on whomever's turn it is I really try and focus on that players strategy. Also I do like creating a "character" for each player and writing down traits etc that I will try and follow. I feel that adds to the narrative. The character driven idea is something I've been using more and more in my solo playing. I've admitted before too that doing all that while also complicating the process with filming makes keeping track of all the personalities and strategies kinda difficult. Anyway I hope that helps a little. I really appreciate your kind words. I'm glad you enjoy the videos.

      @@msa4998 The vast majority of games have paper maps. Paper maps are not a flaw. Some prefer paper over mounted.

    YES!
    In the real battle for France it was a breakthrough west off the Maginot forts to the coast with French and British forces trapped in Belgium/Flanders/northen France. Maginot was bypassed and the units there became irrelevant, when they moved west or south France had already collapsed and Britain fled overseas. A relative of mine was in the Maginot and his unit tried to flee into Switzerland but the Swiss threw them back into France/German hands.

      Much like the way the simulation is progressing here. I think it is important to remind oneself and others that these games represent something much, much bigger and darker. Thanks very much for sharing your personal connection here.
