- My top tip for a Linktree alternative. I use Canva for tons of things in my business, but there's one thing I won't use it for: hosting my 'link in bio' page. While I still create the design in Canva, I always prefer to host these pages on my own website. Not only does it drive more traffic to my URL, but it also opens the door for tons of tracking capabilities. (You know I love data!)

Nailed it... While I love the idea of all the services providing ease of use with the "Link in bio" products, I'm a big proponent for maintaining my resources on my own real estate (web site) for far more control. It does come with its own challenges such as learning curve and the most valuable resource which is the time to apply towards it but its a very worth while trade off IMO.
Agreed! I love being able to keep everything under one website "roof."

I just started link tree, just to get familiar with it & use canva later once have more time, but thanks for the tips, yes a heat map is great idea, I used these before
I will add tracking links later on, Great video tutorial though, just want get info quickly out there as possible, keep it simple

It shouldn't cost you anything extra if you already have a website. It's just an extra page on your existing website. :)

Im an artist (this is not my artist account on youtube) and ive been using linktree for about 2 or 3 years and ive sorta been wondering if there is smth else/better to use so i really apriciate this video!

This is awesome and exactly what I looking for since I have Canva already. Do you use Google Tags to track Google Analytics? Trying to decide if I want to do that now or later since our site is new and we don’t (yet) use Facebook Pixels.
So glad you found it helpful! I use the Google Tag Manager to setup Google Analytics and then track how many people visit the link in bio page. The only way to get there is from Instagram so I know exactly how much traffic I'm getting from that link. Hope that helps!
thanks for sharing! i was looking at different ways to create a custom link in bio page for my website. Im not very artistic so my designs don't look "aestheically" pleasing when you see my link in bio. I wil be trying this method out thanks for sharing!

Yes you can! But Canva website has really limited options for SEO, analytics, and mobile responsiveness. I wouldn't use Canva for any professional or business website for that reason. It's great for fun personal projects though.

I only saw about 12 bio link designs in Canva
I have Canva pro so maybe that's why? Not all of their designs work as converted bio link pages on your website, but they are a great starting point. You can even create one from scratch.

Great video! One question: Why shouldn´t you let the page appear in search engines?
Good question! I want to make sure that in my analytics, I can see exactly how many people are clicking my link and coming from my link in bio. I don't want that to also have people coming from Google. It makes it easier to see how well social media is driving traffic to my website.

Is it possible to add to Shopify?
Also, my link design is quite complex, is it possible to add a as a single image and insert all the different links? Or would it need to be kept simple, with individual buttons?

You could add to Shopify by creating a new page. If you have a complex links page, I recommend working with someone who is familiar with html and css. Hope that helps!

wait, I'm creating a template in canva to link my website? so confused?
I just create the graphics that I want to use in Canva. Then export the images and upload them to my website so you can use your canva graphics to make your own version of a linktree page, but on your own website instead of the linktree website. Hope that helps!

Hey there! You should use Canva in general, you just want to use your website for a link in bio page so that you can track analytics since it's already part of your existing content.

Is there a way to collect emails with canva?
I don't use Canva as a website. I like to use my main website as a link-in-bio and embed any email opt-in forms there.

Things get complicated. She says do not use Canva. Other say Canva is da best. Instagram CEO says Links in Bio are dead. boy these people are sounding like Trump and Biden.

Um Is it safe to click someone Link Tree Bio on Instagram? I accidentally clicked on someone Link tree Bio on Instagram. Does Link Tree Collect The "Clickers" Personal information and Data?
No they shouldn't collect any data beyond what Google Analytics would collect. Any date collected would be anonymous too. Hope that helps!
