For me, the traditional stainless wok spatula is a game changer. It is designed to navigate the contour of the wok and to turn over the contents in the wok efficiently and effectively. Stir-fry was an entirely different activity when I used my old wood spatula with a wok with non-sick coating. I was tentative and uncomfortable. The stainless wok spatula frees me to focus on the cooking process rather than the adequacy of the equipment. Stir-fry is a fast and ever changing cooking process. A good wok spatula creates a direct and immediate connection between my mind and the physical process of stir-fry. The traditional stainless wok spatula in comparison to a wood spatula is analogous to the comparison of a racing car to a family sedan.
With the stainless steel wok spatula has changed my perspective in home cooking, which has transformed from a stressful chore most of the time to an activity that I could be in the moment, targeting my attention on the process in achieving a state of mindfulness. I now make careful preparation each time when I cook, and the execution often takes me into a state of flow. I feel empowered and liberated in my cooking beyond just creating delicious and health meals for my family. In many ways, I credit this change to the stainless wok spatula. Small things could make significant difference in the big picture.

Thank you for tackling this modern social problem of people not cooking at home. I found your channel because I recently bought a wok. What a treasure you have been for me, as I needed guidance to step me through the process of cooking daily. I had no idea how to even find support for this change in mindset from take-out food to daily home cooking. I already managed to get most of the way there, but your videos are taking me all the way to the finish line. Thank You!!

I just purchased a "beginner wok," look at the metal spatula, and set it aside, thinking I would somehow damage the wok (despite the fact that it's literally included with the wok). I'm glad I found this video and channel.

Today I’ve added another person to the business of cooking with a wok. I ordered her a 12 inch wok on Amazon because it better fits her needs and I additionally ordered the spatula /shovel. I will season the wok for her and get her started and will see how this goes and I have already given her information about template cooking. I don’t want to introduce her to any channels on CZcams yet because it will probably overwhelm her, everything when it’s time.

This is wonderful! I sure wish someone would have turned me on to this a long time ago! Cooking with fresh ingredients, lots of veggies, and stir frying quickly is so much more healthy than the way we have become accustomed to cooking/eating these days. For most busy people, they feel they don't have time to prepare wholesome meals. FAST cooking is the way to do that...and it is FUN!

Hi, I just finished making a stirfry with fresh vegetables and when I sat down to eat I had my iPad on a stand and looking things over and I saw your comments. There’s always things to learn every day and I’m sure there are a lot more things that you and I should know about cooking and don’t. I’m just glad I have it now because I certainly am enjoying it. I am using the template cooking method. It is 5:45 PM in the United States, Eastern standard time when these comments were posted.

haven't finished watching your video yet but this is EXACTLY what I was looking for - commentary on the tool to compliment cooking in a wok. I have my favored "spoon" for cooking in a pan, and it's also an old tool. It's probably 35+ years old, and it was my parents' before I got it to supplement my own cooking supplies. The thing is the perfect size, has a flattened tip area so it can scrape a pan, solid plastic with a metal handle so it isn't too wobbly or soft. Just the ideal utensil. I had a feeling my difficulties with wok cooking may have been helped by getting the shovel looking tool. Your video makes me think I was onto something!

Hey Tak love your videos have been watching more than 20 in the last week or so HAH. Anyway sorry for the stupid question but when you fry raw chicken/seafood using the spatula and then you go on to add rest of ingredients do you swap to a clean spatula later on or just keep using original one?

Hello, I have a 14 inch wok with round bottom I have a problem with my spatula !! It’s one like yours , but I don’t manage to remove food from the center of the wok when something sticks, my spatula touch the wok with the 2 spatula side but not in the center, I suppose a i should be able to scratch every where , the spatula edge should follow the curve wok no ? Maybe the front of my spatula is to straight and I should sharp the side ?
    Thank you

Hi Tak. Love your videos. Have you used iron spatulas? Do you recommend them? Are they not for some woks because it will damage them? I was thinking of getting one to use with an imusa light cast iron stainless steel handle ( one that you had recommended.) Here is the spatual I am talking about: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081RC6HGK and info appreciated.

Hmm. A very informative and honestly relaxing lecture. My wok is a fixed electric non-stick one so obviously I can't use stainless steel, but this video explains clearly why this particular tool is needed! Thank you, Mr. Cheung!
