    If your answer is, oh hey wait a minute, mayhe we should vet them first or have some kind of criteria before we sell, then you have a potential cause to also not sell a product just bc someone wants it.

      (I'm not saying the item isn't EVER available for sale), I'm saying there are many items which exist even now, whose sale is restricted or behind some kind of wall/qualification, and not freely available to be bought by just anyone willy nilly. Examples, there's a certain age you need to be to buy guns or buy/consume alcohol. There's a certain age you need to be to drive a car. A kid and adult can't (legally) go and buy say prescription drugs without a doctor's note to give them permission to do so. And I'm sure there's dangerous chemicals that one cannot buy without reason or some limits

    • @timothyn4699
      @timothyn4699 Před 11 měsíci

      @@joeygarza9550 pt2 point being, some things require qualifications/limits, for a reason. There's an age limit or other qualification for the person's or other people's safety. You can't go and buy a pound of radioactive materials like uranium for the fun of it, or x gallons of say sulfuric acid without at least raising eyebrows if you are merely an individual and not like a science laboratory.
      Now, due to greed, there may be a black market for some of these things. But it should be plain as day that you can't, or at least in the ideal world, "shouldn't", be letting say a mentally ill or unstable person, or a known offender, say, buy grenades on like ebay or at some other storefront.
      similarly, AI is a tool. It can be used for good or evil, it's not merely an entertainment thing, it has power to drastically change ppls lives. And if you've been following AI, there's news /concerns that some of these high powered systems we are choosing not to sell to certain countries who's values are questionable or disagreeable with ours. We arent sending aid/resources to Russia as they invade Ukraine, we and others are doing the opposite and trying to discourage the attack. That's no different really. Some things are more important than trying to make a buck/profit. Even a good thing, like giving money to a poor person, or them winning the lottery, can become a bad thing for that person if they are in a wrong place or have a bad mindset. Those with addictions, many times end up worse than before when they come into money, bc they use that money to feed the addiction and or develop other self destructive habits rather than use it to improve their lives. With the lottery, oftentimes their family and friends turn on them (due to greed, envy, selfishness) and they no longer feel like they can trust anyone.
      we know China likes to spy on its ppl. Why would we give them tools to do that if we can't trust their intent? It's one thing to have world class software to use it to try to help solve problems, manage inventory, make factories, hospitals, power companies, ppl more efficient. It's quite another if the person/company/country may use it to try to enslave their ppl, or spy on them. Or some tyrannical govts, will kill anyone who tries to oppose them, or make them "disappear" in the night. No way in heck should we be "fine/cool" with them having world class software to help them in their misdeeds. Alex/Palantir is admirable for trying to consider these things, and to prevent it ahead of time, from getting out of hand.

    Why ain't we talking about the execs Dumping millions of shares throughout the years. In the most recent bull run, they dumped once again...Karp himself sold so much I lost count, it's kinda terrifying. You'd expect a CEO to hold shares for another decade or so for the stakeholders.... you can verify the SEC filings.
    There are 3 classes of shares, A , B, and C. C is largely controlling shares which Thiel and Karp own the majority, so they can dump A unto the market ...

Lol. 😂 Karp is genius and contrarian. People are talking about AI now, this company has been AI company for 20 years.

    • @dool1002
      @dool1002 Před 11 měsíci +2

      I didn't know they were in the AI business for 20 years and I thoroughly researched the company.
      Palantir whole premise was to solve a recurring problem of financial fraud which occurred during Thiel's PayPal days.
      Later they came across another problem, many of their clients were using outdated legacy system and their data were fragmented and sparsed out. They managed to unify and consolidate it through a single platform. In turn they build a platform (CRM and ERP) where you can add your own program on the fly.
      The whole AI thing just happened to be something they can add on their platform. The user still needs to install the language model.
      The thing I find fascinating is how Thiel used his reputation and connections to secure amazing deals with just few customers, many of their clients being intelligence agencies, military, government and the likes. On average the deal sizes are tens of millions. Other SAAS businesses can not compete on their performance.
