  • Simple plug and play install that can be removed if you sell the car or its on lease.
    This guide shows how to hard wire the camera to the cars fusebox so that it goes on and off with the cars ignition.
    Tips on tools required and on hiding all the cable for that factory fitted look.

    Thanks so much for posting this. I followed each step by the book and my dash cam is working perfectly. I’ve got a 68 plate Skoda Fabia and the instructions were so useful. Brilliant!!

    Thanks. Fitted my dash cam using the empty heated seat fuse slot. Does the pillar rubber seal need any glue or sealant when refitting because it doesn't quite look like a tight seal from the outside edge onto the paintwork of the pillar?

    Great guide. Crystal clear instructions and video. The only question I have related to the black cable. How were you able to change the original fitting to that of the loop ending? I am a complete electrical novice if you hadn't guessed. Thanks.

      It's a case of cutting the old one off and then crimping the new one on.

    This is great, thanks for this. What happens to the cable between the head lining and the opposite side of the a pillar where it’s put behind the seal. Is the cable visible or is there space to hide the cable.

    Hi I know you made this video a long time ago but I am wondering if you can remember much about the fuse box. I have just recently purchased a vantrue nexus 5 4 camera dash cam to go in my Skoda Fabia 2016 now the thing the hard wire comes with 3 wires 1 is earth which is simple to do, next is the live which is simple but it comes with a 3rd wire which is an ACC yellow wire and I am unsure as to where to connect this too, the yellow wire is to have the park assist working to detect whilst stationary just incase the car gets hit and the culprit drives off.

    • @PJsprojects
      @PJsprojects  Před 11 měsíci

      Find a fuse circuit that is ignition switched live such as the heater blower, use a fuse spur to tap into that.
      Your owners manual should tell you what fuse does what.

    • @MrTheomighty1
      @MrTheomighty1 Před 11 měsíci

      @@PJsprojectsHi you say use the heater blower fuse now looking on Google search heater blower is number f39 now f39 is on the bottom row of the fuse box and it’s situated to the left of the square pink fuse just like you have in your video and there is no fuse located in slot f39 so how is the heater working. Also on the right hand side middle and bottom row there are live terminals but here is the confusing part looking very closely at the terminals where a fuse should go there is only 1 metal port now if you pull a fuse out there is 2 because as we know a fuse has to metal ends so how can an empty fuse slot have power only to 1 side because there is only 1 metal insert on the back side of the fuse box not 2 .

    Thanks so much for posting this video, allowed me to easily fit a camera and save £15!
    Couple of questions though, the fuse you use looks to be an airbag fuse which is best avoided? I used an empty fuse slot that was designated for heated windscreen washer or something (which I don't have) - is there any problem using a fuse slot like this?

    • @PJsprojects
      @PJsprojects  Před 4 lety +2

      Fuse box layouts can change depending on what region of the world the car is to be sold and also what spec level the car is,however the redundant power slot you have used should be fine.
      General rule of thumb is not to use spare slots in case they are for a optional extras on a higher level model that the cars ecu will show as a fault when the slot is used by anything other than what the ecu is expecting but heated window slot has no warning lights to worry about so all good.

      @@PJsprojects That's good to know - thanks. I was wondering about confusing the ECU but it seems to be fine and what you say makes sense. Thanks again for posting the video!

    Hey pal was just wondering if you need to remove the a pillar trim to tuck the cable behind or if it's just a case of tucking it in from the windscreen side

      Not normally needed, should be able to tuck it under without removing 👍🏻

    The fuse you tapped into was the airbag fuse , is that ok as you say in your video to stay away from the airbag fuse etc ?

    • @stephenwilkie8292
      @stephenwilkie8292 Před 3 lety

      I know that but the fuse was not giving out a output voltage so I must be something wrong but not sure if I was or not.

    I have a skoda rapid spaceback 2016 and have tryed to hard wire the nextbase dash cam got the wire kit and cant get it to power up. The fuse board look the same as the fabia of the same age. When I have tested the fuses I dont get a read out on the meter both on and off power is there any way that you can see where I have gone wrong.

      It's the MK3 Fabia, 2014 to present. The MK2 is fairly similar but the position of the fuse box is slightly different. Check the owners manual for its location but the basic cable run will be reasonably close to this one.

    I've managed to fit mine with the fuse piggybacking on the rear window wiper (10amps) and it works when the ignition is turned on. However, it doesn't seem to charge the camera's battery and as soon as the ignition is turned off, the camera switches off. I want it to use the camera's battery when it's in park mode in case anything knocks my car. Anyone got any ideas on why this is happening?
