Most of your criticisms are things you just become familiar with on Harley's. It's not necessarily a detriment, but rather a personality difference as far as I'm concerned. The look, sound and feel of it is the quintessential Harley. The M8 Harley's don't have near the vibration as Harley's of old. I consider them the last of the hot rod era. Classic styling with a cool sound but not nearly as powerful as modern bikes. I work off a Road King which weighs a few hundred more pounds than even the Softtails. Once you really learn to ride (I'm speaking of low speed control as opposed to commuting), you realize the weight is mostly insignificant because you use the bike's own power to control all that weight through the proper use of it's controls, counter balance, etc. Then when you go bike to a lightweight sportbike, you can really make it move around.

  • @Unknwn_Senpai
    @Unknwn_Senpai Před 2 lety +1

On the speedo, you learn the bike as you ride. Lost my speedo light and learned to know my speed by sound and feel (while counting gears.). I could see how some people wouldn’t be a fan, but some of us have made do with less 🤘🏻

Nice to see something different get reviewed. Ride a sport bike myself but gonna be in the market for a Harley soon as a second bike. The low rider s you rode had a lot of mods: Windshield, Pegs, Grips, Highway Pegs, Slip Ons etc. The down pipes are standard. So possibly not a fair reflection on what you might think of a brand new one. For me personally, I'm waiting till they join the technology train as they are hugely expensive for what you get for the money. In that way the Indian Chief is the better bike right now.

Indian isn’t a Harley. These Harley’s have all the tech they need. Jump now or forever hold your peace. They are forever bikes that you dump money in over a lifetime and you WANT to because it’s a love you attain when you own one. …Or not. Some don’t want to spend the money on it and that’s ok for them too. You DO get what you pay for. You buy a 20k bike and put 10k into it, you get a fast af bike that ALSO is comfortable and will retain its value and love forever.

as a HD owner, i have the same complaints about the seating position on the Low Rider S. ALOT of aftermarket goodies like seat/bars is a must to ride this comfortably. Which is why i ended up buying a Fat bob at the end of the day, the seating position on that bike is 1000000000000000x more comfortable and natural

    1. Vibration. Make sure tire pressure is on point. And there is a way to adjust suspension to weight. I bought mini floorboards. I also hate where the Speedo is located and hate that the new LRS has a digital speedo.
Position of the controls. I had issues reaching as well. So I adjusted them down in order to have a more natural reach.
I'm a 5.5 female. With a 2020 LRS. I absolutely love it. I slice through traffic. I love the long rides with mine.

Bought it for my wife and she decided she isn't into riding as much as being a passenger after only 800 miles. I also have the dyna version of this motorcycle and it just happens to mean more to me and I don't like seeing the softail (or any bike) go unridden. FWIW, the softail is faster and handles much better than the dyna.

Next Harley you should try for that "cruiser" experience is a Fat Bob. Dyna or Softail. Surprisingly agile for what it is, especially with those "forward" controls. The Dyna is, in true Spite fashion, much more visceral than its Softail counterpart, giving off the low end grunt one looks for and expects when riding the quintessential Harley.

The fairing does come off you know. The FXLRS actually comes stock, with a mini, bikini, fairing that looks awesome! It just doesn’t actually DO anything. The fairing on that one is the Memphis Shades road warrior, not a Harley Davidson fairing. Everything else is quintessential Harley-Davidson which has made the Low Rider S one of the most popular Harleys today.
I personally would love to ride that new engine (and I just purchased this LRS recently) but I’m not a fan of the sportster S and I’m not an ADV guy, so until they put it in something I could get on with, I’ll ride my M8 softail.

It looks super nice, it has a special coolness factor, it"s customizable, in the lineup of Harley I find it to be the coolest bike, also in terms of money vs value. Now I'm stucking, should I go with Harley or not? I'm a Ducati guy so far and for doing it all, a bike like the Multistrada would surely be the most reasonable decision.

It doesn't look like something you'd want to commute on with any kind of regularity. To me, it just seems kind of like a "meet up" drag style bike. Possibly one of the best overall packages for less than 10k, if braking and other nerdy track crap doesn't matter. I've even ridden bikes from actually Hollywood movie sets. The Dyna softail or wide glide is worth every penny of their asking price. This bike also fits that niche, but at a brutal price point.

Im only 5'10" and these new softails are just too cramped unless you go to forwards, which defeats the purpose of a "performance" harley. Wish the dyna seating position would have transferred to the new softail chassis better.

You have virtually no experience of riding a large harley. Should you be on it. I have a 22 low rider s and it's bloody awesome.

I have the same bike with a s&s 475 cam and I get 120hp and 120tq at the wheel! I'm also getting an extra 3k rpms out of each gear!

Did you only made the cam to it and pushrods to achieve such dyno Numbers?

@V8pulley No I've got aftermarket air cleaner kit, 2 into 1 exhaust, Tuner, Cam, oil pump, lifters, adjustable pushrods an cam plate.

It's called the S for sport..hence the pegs being in a funny position...still not bad for a naked bike

Bike must be set up for a short rider. You look cramped. I love the bike in general. All the limitations you talk about are due to your unfamiliarity with riding a heavier bike. Ride one for a week and you’ll be good.

Oc: I love the old school Harleys, ive been surrounded by Harley soft tails for a while, my Dad rides an ‘06 Harley Night train, and his buddies all ride Breakouts and other soft tails. Theres just something about them that just, clicks with me….but i ride a 2004 Suzuki DRZ400sm Because im different

The power is awesome but harley always keeps offering boat anchors with wheels. Then expect you to pay premium for the basics which sucks butt!

All the things you said you don’t like is custom fit/ adjustable for your taste… that is what Harley-Davidson is all about plus excellent fit and finish ( less plastics)…. I will tell you a truth .. there no Harley-Davidson bike that a customer can ride right out of showroom… every single harley need minimum 3 things to change( seat , handlebar, foot position + pegs)…
