Great mobo! Installed it on my partial new build and nice stable overclocks with voltage minor bumps! Everything works flawless!
Very very good review! Thorough, detailed and high quality video! Thanks!
i have this board and all i can say is that its a rock solid board - no faults at all. great review!!
Nice looking board! Great review, as always. :)
No problem, i wish you much success with the construction of your new computer.
Helpful video. Thanks
No problems at all !!, i am running my system since 2 weeks now , i've updated the bios like i always do after an upgrade and everything works fine. A very fast motherboard that doesnt slow down my soundcard. So it was a very good buy . The chipset also performs very well. Only down side is that there was no firewire port on the motherboard. I had to buy a dedicated card for windows 7 on pci-e to be able to use my soundcard .
It offers improved power delivery (a must for overclocking), out of the box Piledriver support, Windows 8 Compatibility, improved UEFI, ASMedia controller over the original JMicron, along with numerous other technical enhancements (both on the engineering level and the brand level).
I bought this board in December but I haven't used it yet because i'm only 15 and I am buying part by part. I have bought my motherboard, processor, ram, case, disk drive and SSD so far
Wel i ordered one today together with the zambezi 8150FX . I hope it works fine, together with 8 gig of memory from corsaire. ITs ment for audio production and rendering and mastering. I do use an external sound card from focusrite. So i hope i wont have any probs with that configuration and that everything woudl work fast and fine without any kind of lagg.
No, I don't have that infection anymore. This was filmed back then when I had one, but I only produced the video now. ;)
Oh ok, well thanks for answering man, it helps alot since im going to build my new computer with the same specs as you, but instead the AMD FX 8350. Thanks once again for the fast response. :)
At the time I filmed this I had an infection and I didn't want to gross people out. :)
Hi, need a little help, this board hits 1866 ram. Can i install a 2400 vengeance ram?? and then try to over clock. Thanks all.
Crossfire Bridge is mostly included in the Graphic Card Box, not in Motherboard Box.
oh my god After using a 10 year old board im upgrading to am5
This motherboard served me very well farewell to my trusty 990FX Hello B650E
Nice board, use one to run freenas, cheap and reliable since it supports ECC memory which are strongly recommended for ZFS operation, also like the 8 sata ports,
i still use that MB on my computer!! no problem and computer runs ultrafast
Put this in a Storm Trooper or Stryker and you got a badass looking rig.
I didn't have any problems at all. The FX-4170 was perfectly stable. Afterwards I even overclocked it to 5GHz. No crashes, blue screens whatsoever. ;)
I didn't try that out, because I always flash the BIOS to the latest version before I move on to the testing.
It has some new features like remoteGO and it supports the new AMD 9000 cpu series... There aren't any changes in the performance
King of Pop MJ
Whats the difference between the brown and white SATA connectors when we talk about performance? Are the white ones faster? Or slower?
nice review I own this mobo
Guys, what the HELL is that COM header used for??? Power or some other connectivity?
Great review save for the rubber gloves. That looked really creepy.
This aged well
Would wait for the gen3 version, it supports pci 3.0
use a anti static wristband that's connected to a ground somewhere around your work station
The normal 990fx supports too, even my ASUS M5A99FX R2.0
can I run 4 sticks in dual channel without a loss in performance??
It's worth noting that unless your using Boinc or Folding@Home 24/7 your CPU is rarely running at it's overclock speed. All the CPUs have Speedstep-type tech which lowers the clock rate. The main thing is to have a decent idle temperature and put your machine to sleep when not using it. I can't see how that type of usage would deteriorate your CPU.
I've heard that a lot of people had trouble with the fx8350 on this board, but in the beginning of the video he said that it is compatible with every fx processor..
do you have to install aything before you use the flashback?
Great Review +1
The 3rd PCIE X16 runs at x16 in 1 and 3 dual sli or xfire config, otherwise x8
put fx-4170 blue screen crash in google. it came up for me as i was wondering why mine does sometimes
Does this motherboard support converting pcie to m2 nvme? Thanks !
Heavily overclocked Intel and AMD CPUs will only last 3 to 4 years, but a CPU at stock speeds can last 10+ years. Wise overclocks such as 4.5-4.8GHz would mean about 5-8 years. However that's all depending on the cooling, ventilation and care. To be honest, there are very few people out there, that actually keep using a 5+ year old CPU. I hope this helps! :)
I actually meant that they had to flash the bios for it to work, did you had to do this as well or did it work straight out of the box?
I want to ask a question!! a bit off topic tho... building a gaming pc but nothing fancy.... athalon II x4... will this cpu work well with games? if so then how long til i got to upgrade? love your vids!!
did you say an unkown pcie slot? can yo recomommend any gaming cases that would fit this btw?
I see your using the fx-4170, do you get any problems using that cpu? I have heard that it can blue screen when it gets into CPU heavy tasks
I believe that "unknown" pcie slot is also x16. The whole reason I bought the board is because it is able to run two cards both in x16
Who else is still running amd FX with this board
ME!
FX-9590, 32 GB ram.. but, I hope, in the fall I will finally get Ryzen 7 CPU (and ofc new motherboard, and ram..)
ME! 8350! 2060! 32GB! mebbes upgrade in a bit but not now lol
;O)
How do you ground yourself when you are holding the Motherboard?
I'm using this board with a green color scheme build.
will scythe mugen fit in ?
Will the bios work with any usb keyboards and mice?
I have my FX 8350 overclocked at 4.7ghz, i hope hit 5ghz with this board.
Is the R2.0 much better than the standart sabertooth 990fx ?
@Pimpaggedon what model of athlon ii x4 are you using? is it an am3/am3+ or fm2?
3 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (dual x16 or x16/x8/x8)
Is the gen3 worth the 30€ more? or should I go for this one? (I'm going for the 8350)
You may have been a lucky one then, I have seen forum posts that it blue screens. Mine does occasionally as well. also the silicone lottery hasn't been good to me lol
does this support 10 sata drive, right?
I overclocked the FX-8350 to 4.8GHz without any problems at all with this motherboard.
I OCd FX 8320 to 4.7Ghz no problem
Does it have pci 3.0?
The sound card slot gets covered by the gpu what the fuck Asus. I'm pissed
Well did you run into any problems? please answer. :)
This mobo or GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD5?
but that doesnt incrise performance at all, so i think i will buy this one, or M5A99FX PRO R2.0
what is the price?
I think Piledriver has all the bugs worked out so they can run to their full potential.
WARNING TO ALL POTENTIAL BUYERS that 5 year warranty is bogus, after one year of gaming my sabertooth 990fxr2.0 stopped working and asus support was horrible, first they told me to talk to my retailer (komplett.se) wich told me that since its been a year they wont refund or replace me and told me to contact asus.
so i call asus support again and they tell me to call their german support who after my description tells me that my motherboard is defect and that i should call swedish support again.
swedish support tells me that they no longer offers support for their motherboards but that i should fill in their support form found on asus website.
a few weeks later i get a reply telling me to get a return it to my retailer(that wont take it back since their 1 year warranty had expired) and that they offer no repair, no refund, and no replacements.
turns out that shiny 5year warranty slip is not valid at all, just something to make the product feel more like a "novelty"
Wait according to one of your comments here you said you had an infection on your hands so you wore gloves. But you said the same thing to me MONTHS ago, so do you still have that infection?
No on-board USB 3.0 headers?
It has
ya I agree with the fact that MSI has a better UEFI interface
Which professional USES the manual to OVERCLOCK the CPU?! This can't be a professional then.
Whaha in the subtitles it translated windows 8 for : Windows aids . whaha ( speak a little clearer ! )
What is wrong with your hands
Yeah thats piledriver not bulldozer lol
Got jeezed just by looking at the capacitors.
Not as good as MSI does it ? MSI only has good looks in the bios but it takes a fucking 500 page manual even for professional overclocks to just overclock the fucking CPU....
rly? this is amd board
the warrantee 5 years sucks. I have sabertooth 990 fx and after one year the Sabertooth 990 fx died by her self. Asus don't respect the warrantee. Shit with ASUS. Also ASUS sucks. Buy gigabyte.
I really disagree with that
yeah right!
lol asus is awesome. you can buy an asus board from fry's scratch and dent and RMA and asus will send a new or fix without any questions.
