  • In this video, we'll be reviewing and comparing Godox's most recent and newly available studio flash strobes on the market today. This includes the Godox MS series, DSII series, SKII series, QSII series, QTII series, DPIII series, and GSII series. #hypop #godox #godoxstudioflashstrobe
    The MS series of portable and compact studio flashes are well suited to use as primary lights in a small e-commerce lighting setup, or as fill-flashes in a larger pro-studio scenario. They're designed to either work as a standalone lighting solution or integrate seamlessly into your existing Godox lighting system. Compatible with the XT-16, X1, X2, and XPro triggers. SHOP HERE: bit.ly/33N4P8k
    The DSII series will suit smaller home-studio spaces and for niches like still life, product, and jewellery photography. The DS models can become excellent fill or kicker lights when combined with other Godox lights. These strobes come with full 2.4GHz capability. A stepless adjustable 150W modeling lamp makes the lights easy to set up. SHOP HERE: bit.ly/2PHmeHj
    The SK lights are a small and lightweight solution for those shooting portraits, e-commerce, and product photography in a small space. Both models offer great output stability, with Godox claiming consistency of within 2% when used on the same power source. Also offers 2.4 GHz wireless triggering. SHOP HERE: bit.ly/30L3JIw
    The QS lights come with built-in 2.4 GHz for remote TTL shooting using Godox’s powerful range of triggers and wireless-equipped flashguns. Naturally, for those who prefer to keep things simple, the units also feature optical slave capabilities. SHOP HERE: bit.ly/3irVgjh
    The QT range boast the fastest recycling times (0.05 - 0.09s) and shortest flash durations of all the Godox studio lights, making them ideal for freezing action. There’s also a “masking mode” that will be great for still life and product photographers, as it fires multiple strobes one by one over a succession of shots, making it easier to comp certain elements out of (or into) an image at the post-production stage. SHOP HERE: bit.ly/3fT7q3f
    The DPIII lights comes with 99 wireless ID settings so as to reduce the risk of interference from other triggers. Ideal for use in a multi-studio complex, as it eliminates the possibility that photographers working in adjacent studios may cause cross-firing of lights. At just 1 second between flashes on full power, recycling times are plenty fast enough for the most high-speed of photography jobs. SHOP HERE: bit.ly/3afjtXh
    The Godox GS, or “Gemini”, series features built-in 2.4GHz wireless triggering capabilities; 50 steps of flash output (from 1/32 to 1/1); an adjustable 150W modeling lamp; and a recycling time of 1.2 seconds when used at full power (dropping right down to 0.3 seconds when working at the lowest output setting). SHOP HERE: bit.ly/2XJwvHq
    PLEASE NOTE: Godox has removed standard reflectors from its flash strobe series.

    Very informative video and I enjoyed it. Just one question left unanswered though. I'm looking for 300 series light just for indoors portraits. I'm not interested in HSS but I would like to be able to use a Nikon FM2 at 1/250th second shutter speed to control ambient light for film portraits. The camera will synch at that speed but will the light? Will all or any of these support that?

    Hi! thanks for this video! full of info. I have a doubt about qualitys and series, I have the QTII series (600w) but I feel that I dont use all functions to much like super speed shots to freeze action or the mask function that includes. Im series thinking to sell it and downgrade to the new DPIII series, the difference that I will note between these 2 series lights accord to my use (because never use in HSS mode or mask mode) its basically the stops (1/64 vs 1/128) the weight and size, the flash dumping when change power and the little advantage in recycle time (0.9 sec vs 1.0 sec almost nothing) so well I want to know if you recomend this flash against the QT600II or if you can tell me another difference that I will note? I use it for portrait and fashion work. I dont shoot fast motion shots, even never use it the multi mode LOL! well hope you can resolve my doubt. Thanks!

    Hi, I currently have 3 different Yongnuo Speedlight Flashes with remote triggers. I'm realizing that they do not produce enough power in some situation, and they don't offer strobes. I see you have similar Speedlights, and many more options. I'm trying to figure out which would be best for me. I want them to be powerful, portable (battery powered, or ideally either battery or AC when I'm in my home studio) and easily attach a variety of modifiers. I can't quite figure out the differences between all the product lines, AD, QT, SK, AR, etc. I have Nikon cameras, and trying to figure out what option I should invest in

    Hi, thanks for the great comparison. I have one question. I have a 120cm octabox for portraits which is quite heavy and think about buying the MS 300 or SKII 400. So, how about the screws, do they hold bigger, heavier softboxes in certain angles? Thanks in advance.

    • @hypop
      @hypop  Před 2 lety

      We'd suggest to go with the SK400II rather than the MS300 if you're planning to mount a larger and heavier softbox. Although the MS300 is more compact, it may not hold the weight of larger softboxes depending on which one you use.

    • @hypop
      @hypop  Před 3 lety

      You won't be able to use a strobe as a continuous light as strobe lights will only flash when you trigger it to when you take a photo on a camera. If you want an option for both videography and photography, a continuous light can do both.

    What light setup will you recommend for dance photography? Can 3 ad200pro will do the job. Considering the need of flash duration? Or what else you recoment. To set up a dance photography studio with godox lights.

    • @hypop
      @hypop  Před rokem

      AD200Pros can get the job done with a flash duration of 1/15,380 sec however if you're after a more powerful studio light setup we'd recommend the new Godox QT600IIIM.

    Awesome video! thank you very much. I am planning on getting a QT600ii and two dp400iii strobes. I have seen that the qt600ii has a protective glass dome but the dp400iii does not. It is sold separately in case you break it. my question is, can you actually attach that dome on the dp400iii? Is it possible? I'm a little scared of having a bare bulb because I'm clumsy.

    • @hypop
      @hypop  Před 3 lety

      It's not possible unfortunately. The securing tabs for the dome are only found on the QTII and QSII range. Missed opportunity there, however so long as you use the Bowens protector cap when not in use, when storing or during transport it should be ok!

I'm considering choosing the QS400II or SK400II but in the reviews I see that the maximum sync speed is 1/2000 against 1/8000 of the AD400PRO. many of the photos I take are at 1/3200 speeds. my question is, if i use the QS4000II or SK400II will i be really limited to a maximum speed of 1/2000?

    It is very helpful, I just have 2 questions please.
    May I know which is better QT600 II or FV 200
    Also I would like to know if the modeling light in the QT600II is strong enough to give a proper help.
    I am currently using the AD Pro model and they are very week in modeling lights, they are not helping me to decide especially when shooting Glossy products.

    • @hypop
      @hypop  Před 3 lety

      They're 2 different flashes as the QT600IIM is a traditional fresnel flash whereas the FV200 is an LED flash. If you'll be dabbling in a bit of video the FV200 is a good versatile light that will work for stills and videos. The downside is it's nowhere near the same output as the QT600IIM. The QT600IIM is strictly a studio flash.

    I own godox camara on flash like godox ttl 865II, but i am thinking about some sotbox and better light, i have small home fotostudio, i shoot family and children, what would you recommend for me: light and softbox? Thanks!

    • @hypop
      @hypop  Před 3 lety

      Go for a larger octagon softbox if you have space, like the 120cm octagon softbox. If you're mostly indoors then the SK400II is a great starting point moving from speedlites, otherwise if you're after a light that can be used outdoors too take a look at the Godox AD300Pro / Godox AD400Pro.

  • @photo-markus
    @photo-markus Před 3 lety +2

    I’m mainly a landscape photographer so I rarely need flash for that, but occasionally I shoot cultural events both video and stills. For that I would need such a flash that also has a modeling light usable also for video. Which one do you recommend? The AD 400 pro might be too strong(maybe 300 or 200 W would be enough)...and the AD 400 pro fan noise could be a problem for video even with a directional mic...

    • @hypop
      @hypop  Před 3 lety +3

      You may want to take a look at hybrid LED lights such as the Godox FV150 / FV200 that function as a continuous light for video and flash for photography. The LED flash doesn't compare to a standard xenon flash's output but with HSS it may suit your type of photography.

      @photo-markus Před 3 lety

      Thks a lot!

    • @vikmanphotography7984
      @vikmanphotography7984 Před 3 lety

      @@photo-markus PS- the 'HSS' of the FV series kinda sucks. The flash duration of the FVs is actually longer than 1/200s at full power, meaning you can't freeze particularly fast action and that effective power output decreases rapidly as your shutter speed increases.
      They're still probably your best option for an all-in-one unit but you should know the limitations going in.

    I'm in doubt between the sk400 and Ms300 or another ad200 (used). 9 out of 10 times I'm shooting outside with my ad200 and v860ii however for portraits inside and corporate work I'm in need of an extra light. Now I have to choose to either light the background or use it as backlight. I did study photography but it's not my profession so don't feel like breaking the bank (yet). Which one would you recommend? I have to shoot corporate headshots this Friday and still a light short.

    • @hypop
      @hypop  Před 3 lety

      Sorry we didn't get back sooner. I'd still say the AD200 will be the most versatile, even at lesser output as you're able to shoot on location when you don't have access to a wall outlet for power. The SK400II or MS300 would be better to use as a more permanent studio setup or if you know you'll be indoors most of the time.

    • @vikmanphotography7984
      @vikmanphotography7984 Před 3 lety

      Being that this is for pay, get the SK at the lowest. Because:
      1. Stable color temp. Cheaper units have wildly variable temp+ hue across their power range and even shot to shot.
      2. If you need more than an AD200, you should make the increase worthwhile.
      3. Recycle time isn't the most important thing most of the time for portraits but when you get the perfect expression, you need to be ready.

    what continuous light watts should I use for a 3m x 3m space?

    • @hypop
      @hypop  Před rokem

      It would be based mostly on Lux output for continuous lighting rather than watts for flash. Depending on how well your camera does in low light situations then we find that 2x 300W lights such as the Godox VL300 work well for a standard 3x3m space.
