DC Superhero Girls has been quietly airing through Boomerang and Cartoon Network; it's a prolific property, but it doesn't seem like there's too much buzz around it. So I wanted to give it a quick review to sum up my thoughts. The series is a revamp of the 2015 franchise, which in turn was somewhat inspired by the "Super Best Friends Forever" concept coined by Lauren Faust. Better than 2015
What’s hilarious about this show is what they did with Supergirl. This version of her is the farthest from her webseries counterpart. (In the original she was literally called “the kind one”)
Seriously, Cartoon network are stiting on this as badly as they are with Mao Mao.
I know, right? How disappointing is that?! Cartoon Network should treat both DC Super Hero Girls and Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart with more and more respect.

I very much enjoy what ive seen of this show, it's lighthearted and so much fun, I love the diversity in the character design, but there's 2 things that always bother me, 1st being that they took characters like wonder woman and catwoman that are usually shown as light skinned and made them darker/tan but then they take bumblebee who is usually a dark skinned black girl and made her lighter (not only her skin but also her hair and eyes), 2nd I love the traits they gave to jessica like her being a pacifist and activist but they totally got rid of her anxiety, which is a big part of the character, these 2 things bother me as much as they do cause they are not problems that exist in the previous web show
I still think it's funny that this show made Bumblebee the "shy shrinking violet" archetype, even though Jessica Cruz (the Green Lantern who literally suffers from anxiety) is in the cast.

And yet, despite how criminally underrated this show is (which I fully agree with you on), and how quietly it seems like CN/WarnerMedia seems to be going through it all, it managed to get a Nintendo-published video game with a prominent spot in the last Direct (to a rather... infamous reception). Figure that one out.
But in any case, great vid.
I'm actually looking forward to the video game. It looks like a fun mixture of beat-em-up and adventure gameplay.

Im Faust got a second had at her pilot after the orginal 2016 run came to an end in the comics,Since 2016 it's been in a small bubble mostly do to cartoon network both in 2016 and now but the fans like myself have made sure to help it stay afloat which is nice cause the show desevers alot of chances and I'm happy US Netflix has saved it's chances of staying on as long as it needs to. I'm guessing the show flew under the radar for many people due to the extremely erratic scheduling. I mean, the 2015 series usually had episodes come out at a relatively good pace, no more than 1-2 months at most. If there isn't an episode playing, the next movie or special is usually right around the corner to tide you over. Compare that to the 2019 series, which started out with okay scheduling, but then once the show stopped having reruns in summer 2019 and the shorts stopped coming out, it more or less wasn't given much attention. I mean, think like Justice League Action (also a good show). Outside of more hardcore DC fans, does anyone talk about the show that much?
I want Cartoon Network to give this show so much respect.

Even if the show has bad scheduling, I would've thought that Lauren Faust's involvement alone would've gotten people's attention since she seems like a big deal in the industry.
Such a refreshing video. Having finished watching all 52 episodes, it's superb.
Honestly with how much of early Friendship is Magic and Equestria Girls DNA is running through this show, calling the team "The Main Six" couldn't help but get a chuckle from me throughout the video. Like I always headcanon that Lauren Faust's pitch for this show was "Hey, remember that weird human highschool spin-off show they did for my Pony show that they eventually turned into a superhero/mystery thing? What if we did that? But better, and with DC Superheroes?" But yeah, the show's really fun and I don't really see the sexism argument as valid, least any more so than any of Faust's other works like on PPG or Wander.

The only things i don't like much is some of the plots that feel too simple and would fair better as shorts and the paceing of some episodes that are a bit too fast for me
I don't mind the fast passing and most of the plots are very interesting.
I feel the plots are pretty predictable, boring, and just really stupid. No hate to people who like this show though

@@ultrairrelevantnobody1862 As long as that show is still ongoing and being aired, they will never stop complaining about Teen Titans Go. But yeah, the hate for TTG is getting out of control.
Don't get me wrong, I hate Teen Titans Go with a passion, but at least I don't complain a lot about it.

I agree this show was so good, way underknown and rated, I wish they made more shows like this, the original is unwatchable garbage. As a dad of 2 young girls, I much rather them watching this version with loads of character and the lack of barbie-ism that the first one had. The first one was superficial and you could just interchange the hair and costumes of all the girls and they would all look the same, also the animation was lower quality. This newer 2019 version had built real characters and they were all so different both visually and personally. The takes on the characters were great too! supergirl's being into heavy metal and always hating superman getting the fame, green lantern being "green" so she's all about global warming and being a vegan yet poison Ivy, who is also green is a carnivore because she loves plants so much that she refuses to eat them at all! it's great. what a great show.
In regards to the final portion of your video, I agree 💯. The difference between this and some projects like she hulk and Captain marvel is the care this show takes with thier characters. Example. Why did she hulk agree to become a superhero in her show? Basically it's because it's her show so.. yeah.
What about Kara? She was originally following superman but after getting kicked out from her school and her own self doubt led her to move. This led to her meeting the girls who believed in her, the only people to do so. Kara arch is about refusing to bend to oppression, she hulk arch is .......if you have power abuse it?

I felt a little mixed on this show as I went further into it and me and my brother talked about it problems and mixed potentials, but I’m glad I know about it. It’s so freaking good
i thank you for explaining that this show has the senario on what shows like the botbots and shinbi's apartment have and what i mean is that "it looks kidish and not good until you watch it then you will see it's pretty good"

In fact, what else compares the art style of the 2016 reboot, constantly consist of the background characters, similar to Clarence, its background designs, and the controversial leak script of the Live action reboot, which it seems that nobody could get it right, to that art style of DCSHG 2019 is more to describe?

I don’t really like this show. Too corny and kinda boring for me. The animation is easily the best part though.
