  • I had to replace the axle so I recorder it for you guys. Some of you may be afraid to get your hands dirty working on cars cause you don't know how. In this video I am showing you how I did it so you have an idea how to do it yourself.

    I appreciate being able to see the procedure before I dig into it. I'm a auto mechanic and certificated aircraft mechanic so I appreciate watching you and your boy working on the car, start'em young to be self sufficient! Even I have discovered a loose bolt until I go over it again.

    Good vid. Sweet ride. My father has a red Challenger Scat, I never really looked at them too much until I purchased my Charger Scat, but this one is really good on the eyes

    pull that e brake cable.. The reason it becomes hard to pull out and the reason the hub will not lean forward anymore is the e-brake cable. and the reason for terrible uneven tread wear is the wheel spacers.

    Watched your vid thought it was gonna be easy like how you did, mines 09 300c srt8 and found out axels are thicker and don't flex too well on the cv joint, after a freekin struggle I found it was easier to drop the suspension arm, leave on bottom bolt connecting hub assembly to suspension arm and take off everything else, all thanks to your vid bro, hope you still rocking a Hemi

    Thanks for making the video man! I did a diff swap on my 15 charger rt(upgraded to a scat pack lsd diff) and my right side is leaking oil, think i didnt get the axle to seat all the way in.
    Thanks again ima do this just to get my axle to go all the way in.

    At 5:55 (Hub Nut removal) next time, put another floor jack under the lower control arm (slight pressure) and it'll come off easier. Nice trick with the sway bar. Enjoy working with your son while it lasts.

    I'm thinking if you put the jack under the control arm then pulled out the shock bolt and lowered the jack you could do it without prying. Alot easier than dropping the diff like the pros say.

    I have a 2012 dodge charger rt, that vibrates when accelerating, breaking, and backing up. Any idea if it's associated with cv joints or drive shaft?

      It's probably your driveshaft center carrying bearing, the rubber around it gave up

    What type of grease did you use for this? Did you do anything about the ABS sensor?

      Did not used any grease and I replaced the sensors. 😁

    How was the orielly replacement quality, how long did it last? Masterpro or precision?

      This was done so long time ago I do not remember but I do remember that if your car is lowered, it will tear up the grease boot.

    I need to replace a ring in one on my axles. Cause ABS sensor is killing me and don't get fixed for replace it. This ring is replaceable? or need change the whole axle?

      Ring is replaceable if you get an undamaged one to install.

      Ok I’ve been told that it has to be the one for the 5.7 so that’s not true the 6.2 will fit fine ?

      @@DreGoated mind the fact that my car was a 2015 and I bought a 2015 hellcat axle. What I found out was that if you lower the car the axle may pop out cause it's slightly shorter than a 5.7 axle

    What size socket did you use for the axle nut?

      Ok thank you anyways. Very informative video by the way gave me confidence to do the job myself. It took me a few months to finally find out what that terrible noise was in the rear of my challenger. How many times have you had to change your rear cv axles?

    Hi HEMI Addicted...was there any C-Clips on the axle at the hub? Was this a limited slip diff?

      No, inside the diff at end of the CV axle is a CV joint lock ring witch it should unlock with enough pull force when removing the axle. Yes my Challenger had a LSD .

    I have this clicking noise coming from the rear driver side wheel-well area. Clicks when I put it in gear or reverse from idle. Also clicks as I brake or accelerate from a dead stop. Yall think it's the CV axle? 2015 5.7L 89K miles

      Sounds like a bad CV axle, mine sounded same before it broke

    My rear cv axle boot is leaking grease, it’s the boot that’s connected to the diff, can this ruin my transmission and diff ?

      If the grease is leaking from the boot of the axle itself, this will only affect the longevity of the axle and nothing else.

      Mine is a 2009 with a getrag upgrade. I found the mopar axle number today. No aftermarket available thats the correct spline

      I used a hellcat axle pn so I don't know how can that help you since my car was a 2015

    My friend is getting inside wear on the rear tires... just like at the beginning of the video... what could be some issues? At 2:38

      Wheel alignment is key. For a sample on my car, my car was lowered and it made it have camber and toe, I liked the camber the way it is but the toe was the tire killer and it could not be fix with OEM parts. There is aftermarket products out there than can help you get best alignment to prevent fast tire wear.

    I don’t have a challenger but I am build a 56chev with that diff and I have the driver side axle rusted up and seized to the knuckle! At this point thinking easier to snatch a replacement assembly out of a junk yard. Less work.

      Yup during turns but the ball cage never broke, the shaft is what broke

      They were great, no issues after this one was installed. I don't have the car anymore so I don't really know if any changes.

      I should of been more in depth lol i took it to a guy who told me it was my axle that’s bent/broken.. the same issue you noticed when your son took off your wheel, is the same thing that happens to my dodge charger when i catch a flat. I mean your the mechanic here.. so i was really looking for some guidance but ok ill find help elsewhere, geesh

    Bro wtf? You didn’t even grease the axel spline inside of the differential. You also didnt use a new axel bolt when u change a CV axel joint. U also forgot to torque those bolts. This why I don’t do back yard mechanics. As a Sr Quality Engineer it is very important to have someone smarter than you or as smart as you go over the axel, differential, bolts, damage inspection, loose bolts, missing bolts etc.

      @Loyalty this is a Challenger R/T they only come in RWD. I did made a video on replacing the front axles on my Current Charger that is AWD.
