I just got back from a week-long trip to the beach. I have 2 potted hydrangeas on my balcony that take quite a bit of water. I put 2 small water globes in each pot and they did beautifully. The big leaf hydrangea had half a globe left. The panicle hydrangea had just finished both globes by the time I got back (the globes were empty but the soil was still nice and moist). I was very relieved!

Thank you so much! I recently started gardening and I'm leaving for a month in a couple of weeks and was super scared of coming back to dead plants. I'ma definitely try some of these methods!

This is so helpful! In my case, I am into Hydroponics so watering plants isn't a problem for me but my plants are placed indoors so my problem would be the scheduling for when the light should turn on/off. There are grow lights that have scheduling embedded in them but only offer a maximum of 12 hours of duration. Also, smart sockets are a great thing but too expensive so I made them myself. I developed a circuitry as well as a mobile application that helped me turn on and off the lights even though I am so far away from home. And now, I can be on a vacation without worrying my plants would never get photons in a day :)

I'm so fortunate to have friends who love my house and they come and stay so it's easy for them to water the plants. All my plants are in one room anyway on the verandah.

This is so helpful! I wish I had watched this video before leaving my plants for the holidays. I had my housemate care for them while I'm away until get back. I'll try the stake method. Thanks

I was just talking to my husband about making copies of our house key for a few people who can check in (and water my plants) while we're away 😂

I will try these stakes but if this doesn't work I give up. I tried all kinds of watering bulbs and drippers but the water just goes through. My floor is wet, the plants water logged and now I have fungus gnats everywhere

Have you got a link to the terracotta watering globes? they lovely! really good . also would you advise using multiple globes to see if a big plant would take the water down store it if away longer ? would last longer with mire globes or het too wet if it had more globes in it?

My husband doesn’t want strangers in the house so I have to ask our neighbor do it. I have more plants again and last time two of my African violets molded and I had to throw them away!
