    Before we depart the UK for the rest of our European tour, we had to check out the YikeBike. Hardcore fans of the show will recall this personal mobility device from TRANSLOGIC 5 where it confounded our hosts. But after more than a year to refine their concept, we wanted to give YikeBike's 2-wheeled wonder another chance. We're glad we did.

    The YikeBike is expensive, but there are a lot of positives here: fast charge times, decent range and lightweight design. If the price comes down we think that there could be a serious market for this!

    The Super Turbo 800watt scooter sells for $479 on Amazon . Top speed is 25mph. There is a 1,000 watt version with a lithium battery that sells for $1,000 .

    If I recall correctly they stopped producing the penny farthings because at a stop they launched the driver headfirst into whatever he was stopping from.

    Actually , the percentage of complaints is very low . I also found another company called East Coast Wholesales that builds a 1,000 watt scooter and sells it for only $476. Very reliable , much more comfortable and stable . It is also built much better .

  • @roidroid

    It was a problem on the Penny farthing because your feet were raised high off the ground. With the Yike you can put your feet down* at any time.
    *Or forwards - your feet&legs and even arms become a good shock absorption bumper.

    Check out the Outrider electric trike. I doesn't compete with the YikeBike, but it merits a review if you think the YikeBike does. The Outrider is the electric bike I want, but it's expensive, a lot more than the YikeBike, but it goes over 100 miles on a charge and is actually replacing a car for some people.

    Standard city cross hybrid suspension bike is like 400-500pound
    I bought my in 2004 for 650pounds, still going and it will go for next 30years.
    Just keep maintain like car.
    I think the smallest folding bike that you can take on the train is Brompton
    and cost 900-1200pounds
    So 2000pound for electric is not that steep price,
    Go to bike shop and look at the prices of quality bikes
    Don't compere Argos or Halford bikes, as those bikes are unreliable and will have to adjust something no it everyday.

  • @roidroid
    @roidroid Před 11 lety

    i *could* walk everywhere but it would eat away the time i'd rather spend sleeping, socialising, living my life, working, etc.
    I'd rather do what i want to do, than do what i'm forced to because of a technological lack (no thx, i don't want to live in a 3rd world country).
    If it takes you an extra hour to commute, that's an hour of unpaid overtime, and you're thus effectively taking a pay-cut. That's why $/hr matters, why efficiency matters. Time is money, and a penny saved is a penny earned.

  • @roidroid

  • @flitsies
    @flitsies Před 11 lety

    Well someone might like it, but if they do in the UK where it is made they better emigrate to another country because this thing is totally illegal to ride in the UK, it maybe called a yike bike but unless they fit pedals to it that work, it is classed as a motorcycle, and must have a number plate, road tax, and be insured, but you won't get that cos it's not classified for road use.
    Electric scooters have exactly the same problem.

  • @N_Dantes
    @N_Dantes Před 11 lety

    The only question is: "WHY???"

  • @roidroid
    @roidroid Před 11 lety

    okok, here's my point:
    How much money do you make per hour?
    Work that out, and multiply it by how much time you will save using this device rather than walking.
    And that's how it pays for itself and you inevitably come out infront.
    TECHNOLOGY!
    ps: you don't buy a new YikeBike every fucking year, silly (but nice) boy.

    Thanks for sharing. It certainly isn't as stylish as the Yike Bike, not as innovative, not unique and is low quality hence the cheap price. There are complaints on Amazon. I'd rather pay for quality than pay $400 plus for something that will break down quickly.
