Starlink’s New Lower-Cost $140/mo Priority Data Plan - A Surprisingly Intriguing RV & Boat Option

- SpaceX has quietly introduced a new more affordable tier of its Priority plan that on it surface seems to be targeting a very limited audience - fixed-location businesses who want to use Starlink as a secondary backup connection with just 40GB of Priority Data.
However the plan after the 40GB of Priority usage reverts to unlimited Standard service, which is higher than Mobile.
At $140/mo ($10 cheaper than Mobile) - this new plan actually offers some substantial advantages over the residential Starlink Standard plan and Starlink Mobile plans, potential making this new plan an ideal Starlink option for many RVers and cruisers.

Thanx for keeping us in the loop!
Thanks for sharing this! I have SL mobile but have been stationary for months in an area that doesn't offer residential. I might just make this switch for the time being!
You guys are always on top of mobile internet changes. 😃
I saw the new 40G plan a few days ago when I was contemplating switching my residence to Port City Marina, Wilmington, NC. I have Standard + Portability that currently runs $145/mo. 100% priority at your primary residence & best available anywhere else. Since I recently moved the boat to PCM, I thought I should change my primary address to there even if the Wilmington is wait listed right now.
To my pleasant surprise, the new residence was accepted and my evening download speed jumped from 2 to 3 MB to >100 MB! So glad I signed up to that plan several years ago & was grandfathered in.
Only downside is that I have to shut it off when moving the boat.
I haven't checked the map in a while, but it seems all of north America and parts of central and south America are now available. Last I checked about 4 months ago, everything in my area was on a wait list.
We just published a story about this, video coming soon: www.rvmobileinternet.com/starlink-no-longer-has-a-waitlist-for-standard-service-and-10-mph-speed-enforcement-update/
Public IP! Is it sort of static? Also, I presume you need some sort of connectivity to do the location update? We often end up in places where there is no cellular and if we wouldn’t have access to the Starlink control panel when arriving at a new boondock sites because it’s still set to the previous location, that would require some foresight.
The Public IP isn't guaranteed to be static, so not exactly the same. And to change your address, you don't need any other connection but Starlink. If it can connect, you can change your address on their website or app, even it's showing an invalid address (but nothing else).
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter wonderful, thank you - you guys do massively important work for the silent nomads across the continent.
Wouldn't be possible without the support of our members.
We pay 170 a month for mobile plan here in Canada.
It would be nice if they'd do something like this comparable to the RV plan. We only use Starlink a couple of months a year based on our location, but would love priority and the ability to pause the service when we're done.
You can switch plans for those times you want priority and if the plan you want isn't an option to switch to, you can cancel it and then resign up with the same equipment on a different plan. We have instructions for our members in the accompanying article on how to do that.
You cannot pause priority like you roam service, but again you can switch or cancel plans when it came time to stop using it.
Are you able to setup a new address if you are in an area of no cell service? Does SL provide this functionality through limited connectivity?
Thanks John
Yes, you can connect to Starlink.com or the app when your only connection is Starlink.
Hey Chris, TY. how do you change your address if you have no internet connection? Meaning if the Starlink is out of market, how does it wotk?
Starlink works anywhere, even if you aren't at your assigned location, the dish itself is communicating with the satellites, it just blocks your access to the internet at the account level. You have access to Starlink.com to update your address to your new location.
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter of course it does. Duh. Has I thought for longer than a minute I would have realized this. Thanks 👍
How many watts does it use? Kind of important for RVers unless they're plugged into a campground.
Our Starlink Guide goes over the equipment - www.rvmobileinternet.com/starlink. Power usage is 50-150w, depending on the equipment you selected.
Can you pause this plan like you can with the mobile plan?
You cannot pause this plan. We haven't found yet that you can switch from this plan back to Mobile, but you can cancel at anytime and just sign up when you need it again, or you could resign up under any plan you want including mobile which then would allow you to pause again.
If I go for new plan, would I be allowed to switch back later down the line?
At present time you have to cancel and start new service.
Hey Chris! I am a comercial vessel captain and I like to have my own internet connection at sea. What are you recommend? Thanks!

I do not find new plan listed on website.
It is under their Business section.
I don't see how I could change to this plan
It's still available.
