1️⃣ Find Shade
2️⃣ Outline the Board
3️⃣ Use “Cross Hatching” Method
4️⃣ Wax the board Lengthways
5️⃣ Wax the board Sideways
6️⃣ Wax the board in Circles
7️⃣ Choose a Top-Coat (depending on💧temp)
8️⃣ Apply a Light Top-Coat

I am new to surfing and I have a question. Why most of the surfers just don’t put rubber pads on the board? Less messy, 0 maintanance and clean wersuit

For me it’s because traction pads end up falling apart over time and they’re so hard to replace on a surfboard and wax just feel more natural.

A decent amount - should be firm. Just make sure you aren’t “smudging” 🤙🏽

Depends on the type of wax. Cold water wax is a lot softer than tropical wax so it’s easier to spread on the board, so I use less pressure. But for the base coat, it should be a good amount of pressure.

ive never used top coats but i think its for cold water because it might be a softer wax. just a guess

Yep top coat for cooler water. Basecoat is firm and water wax is firm so they’re essentially the same thing

it provides traction because otherwise it would be like trying to surf on a slip and slide
