    Hi everyone!! Today I give you a quick run down/tour of the Omnipod DASH PDM and how the different features and functions operate. It is a little bit different than the old PDM in several different aspects, and I share a few of those aspects in today’s video. Check out Sugar Medical if you like the blue silicone case that I have protecting my PDM!! :)

    Hi Maddie, hope you are doing great. I love all your videos very informative. Finally we got the omnipod dash for my 12 yr old son. It is our first time using pump. He was on MDI from the day one. Questions, is it safe to ride the roller coaster and other park ride while wearing omnipod. Is it possible that pod release dangerous amount of insulin while ridding due to the g force? I would greatly appreciate your help. Stay safe.

    • @MaddieNielsen
      @MaddieNielsen  Před 2 lety

      I have not gone on any amusement park ride while I was on the Omnipod. If you are not sure if it would dispense insulin on accident, my best suggestion would be to suspend the basal insulin temporarily while your son is riding. That way it would prevent any extra insulin from being infused into the site.

    Good video thankyou.
    Can the pdm link up with freestyle libre?
    Adhesive.. reliable, and in heat? Comes off at all?
    Satisfied with omnipod but do you notice any insulin delivery issues with it not giving as much as maybe you indicated leaving you high or the other way too much insulin goj g low, any issues? Thanks take care

    • @MaddieNielsen
      @MaddieNielsen  Před 4 lety +2

      I do not believe the PDM can link to the freestyle libre. Throughout the whole year, I have used the Omnipod DASH, I have not noticed any problems with the adhesive. I definitely had an issue back a few months ago before the DASH got a software upgrade. I would constantly have high blood sugars. I do believe at one point I was not getting enough insulin at one point. But now, this problem seems to be solved!! Thank you for watching! :)

    • @MaddieNielsen
      @MaddieNielsen  Před 2 lety

      I would definitely talk to them about taking it off. I do not use a reverse correction as to me it is not helpful for helping with lower blood sugars.

    Hey Maddie, I am currently getting the Omnipod Dash, with the hope of transitioning into the Omnipod Horizon when it comes out. How do you feel about the Omnipod closed loop system that we're going into? Also, now that I'm with the G6 and Omnipod, I'm worried about the transition. I appreciate your video because it's helping me learning about the Dash before I get it. How do you feel about it now? Have you changed insulin pumps or are you still with the Dash? I'm just trying to get an idea of how I will like being on the Dash. Thank you.

    • @MaddieNielsen
      @MaddieNielsen  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Miguel!! I am still on the DASH!! it is not too bad. the only thing is that I have had 5 PDM replacements within the entire year that I have been on the DASH. not ideal but I am happy with the tubeless pump that allows me to make diabetes more convenient!! I am super excited for horizon and hope that it will be similar to Tandem’s control IQ

  • @rhdtv2002

  • @angiebauer8156
    @angiebauer8156 Před 3 lety

    Do you Have To change the pod every 2 days? If it hold 200u and and that 200u will last me 4 days based on current ratios, is it still going to force me to change or stop working after 2 days?

    • @MaddieNielsen
      @MaddieNielsen  Před 3 lety +2

      You have to change it every 3 days. Omnipod will let you have the pod on for approximately 72 hours with an 8 hour grace period meaning you can only wear it as long as 80 hours.

    We as a community need to start holding these companies like Omni pod to a higher standard. I mean this is just pathetic, this is 2010s technology. We’re in 2021, we have self driving cars and rockets, but I have to rely on a 2010 Samsung to control my blood sugar? We have the technology to make living with diabetes a whole hell of a lot easier but we never see it.

  • @cagedtigersteve
    @cagedtigersteve Před 4 lety +1

    I like the way the device is going...I'm using the UST400. But as a diabetic if you drop this device and break it, that means you lose your ability to control your insulin. I don't even want to think about the turn around time and cost to get it replaced. With the dexcom if I lose any piece of it--I have replacements (smart devices) I can use immediately. With my PDM I don't and that's scary.
    Thus I would like for the PDMs to go to something I can control on a smart device. However, that brings up other issues I don't want to think about.
