Yes he had a more bigger motive the voldemort and spread fear as well as his idea across all magic universities and ministries.

If Harry Potter would have fought Grindelwald then he would have surely died as his followers would have fought till their death unlike Voldemort's followers who ran away when saw their master falling
@Voldemort No he was not zealot, he was someone who didnt want that his kind had to live in opression so he wanted a freedom for himself and for people who thought like him. It quite similar of slavery in Old egypt and Rome where slaves stoped other slaves from escaping couse they were afraid that it will bring down wrath of masters on them. So they rather lived as slaves than fight and die for freedom. this is similar. All thouse wizards ho fought against Grindelwald where like slave keepers they didnt want o conflict and were afraid to be free.
Grindelwald didn't even have to manipulate people cuz they were already thinking and feeling deeply about these things already for a long time, he was the only one bold enough to speak out about it, if not him then someone else will, they just want to live freely and being oppressed and suffocating to death is no life at all, with his legendary skills, elder wand and devoted followers the dream can become a reality and the impossible can be accomplished , they just want to live the life they crave and desire deeply in their own hearts and minds , it's awe inspiring and empowering to see someone of your own race leading the world being able to help achieve the dream

Warner Brothers fucking robbed the world of a pure Grindelwald portrayal. Watching the end of TCOG and knowing I’ll never seeing Johnny Depp continue in Grindelwald’s savage rise to power left me feeling more empty inside than I did when I found out there will be no Pirates 6. Because at least we actually got to witness Jack Sparrow’s potential. I also really liked the chemistry between Johnny’s Grindelwald and Queenie.

an anti hero like Severus gellert wanted unity and equality and respect and love Severus wanted respect loyalty and love Dumbledore ruined gellerts pride and love and only cared about himself for Severus to use him as leverage to forget about the love of his life Lily and to use James to kidnap and take advantage over her feelings over Severus and brainwash Lily into hating him Severus protected.harry gellert protected his people they are both heroes
