  • A hiatal hernia occurs when part of the stomach slides into the chest through a hole in the diaphragm called the hiatus. When this happens, it places the stomach in an unnatural position, causing a range of problems from reflux (heartburn), to chest pain and vomiting. Morbidly obese patients are at a higher risk of developing a hiatal hernia.
In this video, Dr. Francisco Jacome talks about how a hiatal hernia develops and how to treat it when it occurs.

I subscribed just because of that real honesty at the end! 😅 " Public" speaking can be a real anxiety elevator. Great job Doc!

I had a Hiatal hernia repair when I had my gastric sleeve done. 4 years later, I developed another one that caused sever acid reflux and pain, sever vomiting. I just recently had a revision bypass to correct the problem. The recovery is a little rougher this time.
