The front sub is the most impressive upgrade I've ever done in this system to date. Yeah massive is a good word. The best midbass you've ever heard is a nice side effect too. IIRC, the gross internal volume of my enclosure eneded up at 17L. This car also now has two AE 15's in trunk IB (not in this video though), but if forced to choose between the two 15's and this front 10, I'd burn the 15's with fire to keep the 10WM up front :P

Good question. There is a tradeoff - In the front, you're not getting much usable response below 35-40Hz. Now, for a lot of music that's fine because it doesn't go lower anyway, but the same sub, in the same box, is going to get down to 20-25Hz no problems in the trunk. However, in the front you get *much* better midbass output from the sub, and you just don't have anywhere near as much rattles and resonances to deal with compared to a trunk sub. So, ideally you'd have a trunk sub to go with your front sub. Indeed, since this video was shot I have added two 15" in trunk IB as well, to fill out the bottom end. If I had to choose between front sub or rear sub though, it would be front sub hands-down. The SQ is just *so* much better.

The minidsp dl only has 8 inputs, which isn’t enough for me, but i’ve heard from some ppl that diraclive is a necessity to tune time alignment, eq, etc because of the FIR. others say that Helix, in the right hands is just as good. what’s your opinion on that?
@@prodsunss I had a MiniDSP 12ch DSP in the car a few years ago. I went from that the using the DSP built into my Helix P Six, and from that to a Helic DSP Ultra. I have not used the Dirac version of MiniDSP, but I can say that the Helix P Six sounded noticeably better than the MiniDSP, and the Ultra sounds marginally better than the P Six.. I have used auto-tuning with JBL MS-8 and the Helix DSP's, but I always get a better result tuning myself.
After watching your video, I also chose the Utopia M10, but placed it in the trunk. Are you operating in 2 ohms or 8 ohms? Is there a big difference between the rear trunk and the front kicking effect?
I am running mine as a 2 ohm load, using a Helix P One amp, so it's getting 880w RMS. When I first got the 10WM, I had it running in the trunk, using a 0.8cu ft sealed box, corner loaded. in this location, I got substantially more output below 40Hz, and it would play all the way down to 20Hz. Midbass is lacking though (kick) and SQ suffers due to resonances from the car, and the cabin gain effect adding muddiness. In the front, I get wayyy better midbass kick, and the sub is just cleaner sounding all over. But it only plays down to ~35Hz. That's fine for most music though. If you are looking for ultimate SQ, I would definitely recommend mounting it up front.
