- Full Eurowings Airbus A320 flight in the cockpit from Düsseldorf (DUS), Germany, Runway 05R, to Edinburgh (EDI/EGPH), Scotland, UK, Runway 24. From the runway in Düsseldorf to the parking position in Edinburgh. Cockpit, pilots and PFD (primary flight display) and ND (navigation display) view. With cockpit audio. First Officer is pilot flying and Captain pilot monitoring. ATC (air traffic control) callsign is Eurowings 96NA (Eurowings Niner Six November Alpha). Commercial flight number: EW 9364. Airplane Registration: D-ABZE. Airbus A320-216. Produced with 5 cameras in 4k quality.
I apologize for the bad stabilization of the PFD/ND. Reason is that this camera is new as replacement for the previous broken camera. The basic stabilization was turned on to reduce camera vibrations caused by the airplane. Instead, the stabilization system of the camera added a good amount of movement to the picture all the time when there was any change in direction or acceleration or deceleration of the airplane.
Also, there is about a 5 minutes gap in the climb to the cruse altitude. The rest is 100 % realtime.

What a great captain. Gave feedback with genuine feeling. As an employee, we can ask for nothing more. What a pleasure it would be to work with someone like them.
Thank you so much for your kind words about my person! Have a great weekend!
Two very experienced pilots had a lot of fun together. The mutual appreciation by each other opened space for (of course very professional) extremely polite communications with a smile on their faces..
Thank you so much for your very kind words! Have a wonderful day!
Awesome video as usual. You literally flew over my house as you flew over Newcastle, and i caught a glimpse of my old school in Edinburgh as well
Thank you so much for watching, for your financial support of the channel, and your personal feedback! Many greetings to Newcastle!

This video and this particular approach over the city bring back good old memories from the high school 😢
Thanks for watching and for your personal feedback! Have a nice day!
Beautiful and smooth landing from the FO. Great work, from both of you.
I love Edinburgh/Scotland!
good to see that the co-pilot is enjoying his job
Thanks for watching and for sharing your feedback!
I really like the camera angles/setup. No worries with the PFD/ND it was fine for me. Great to see another aircraft @39:48 too. Thank you!
Thanks for watching and for sharing your good feedback! I hope to be able to show the PFD/ND always very stabilized again soon. Have a nice day!
Hi Stefan Paul from Kent best channel on you tube another great flight did you manage to spend some time In Edinburgh lovely city. Keep up the great work Paul
Hello Captain, yup, your FO was absolutely correct. That was indeed "blue skies" especially for Scotland. 😊 Great view on approach. Always super to see a place I know from above. Happy flying guys. ✈🛩
I agree, the weather was really good! But, in general, I prefer skies with no clouds, no haze and 100 miles visibility or so!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos Well yes, don't we all. 🤣 Good luck with that flying into the UK. Can be possible....occasionally! Maybe that's why I also enjoy your flights to the Mediterranean. More likely there. Love all your videos, always so interesting listening to the chatter too. Thanks for all your hard work in presenting them.
Great Flight As Usual And Video!
Thanks for watching and your good feedback! Have a nice day!
What a beautiful flight. As always: Thank you Captain! I enjoyed every minute :)
Thank you very much for watching and your kind feedback! Have a nice day!
Great flight and nice smooth landing. :)
Also nice to see speed management during descent to give separation for that Lufthansa flight behind. There was even one takeoff in between the landings.
Thanks a lot for your good feedback and for sharing your observations!
Nice CRM and organization Captain! You guys did a great flight, thank you for sharing! Greetings from Adana / Turkey 😍
Thanks for watching and for sharing your great feedback! Many greetings to Adana!
Thanks a lot for that trip with these spectacular views!
Thanks for watching and your good feedback!
I'm legally blind and I love your videos
Thanks for sharing your good feedback and have a nice day!
Amazing video and so nice to see EGPH again and this time on a full flight! Quick question, when you are given a "level at" by ATC is it preferable to program that restriction in the mcdu if not there already and let the plane fly managed descent, or is it quicker to manually select a rate of descent on the FCU and use the visual ref on the ND to aim to be at that level at the reference point?
Thanks for watching and for your financial support of the channel as a member! When we get an instruction from ATC to be at a certain level at a certain point, we usually enter the value in the MCDU flight plan. The easiest way to do the descent is to do it managed and to start it not much before reaching the newly calculated top of descent. This will be most economical, but it does not take an early reduction of the vertical speed into account. So sometimes, we enter into the MCDU an altitude 1000 feet lower but dial the correct altitude in the FCU.
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos very clear, thanks for your insights!
Excellent teamwork & video 👏👏

Very high quality video!
Nicely done, thanks!
Many thanks! I love to hear that! Have a great day!
I love these videos and they make my day better every time! I'm still waiting for the day that you get assigned on a flight to Helsinki! Hopefully that comes true someday. Thanks again for the video and happy summer and happy flying!
Thanks for watching and your great feedback! I - for sure - will try to make a video when I am scheduled next time to Helsinki. It may take a while. Please stay tuned!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos I most definitely will! Have a nice rest of the week!
I'm working on getting my PPL at the moment. You're videos are fantastic, so interesting, and give a great overview of SOPs in use in a commercial cockpit
Thanks for watching and for sharing your great feedback! I love to hear that the videos help you to get an impression what is going on in a commercial cockpit! All the best for your PPL training!
My comment was going to be, are you only bad weather flyer? But then you came out of the clouds and the sun was shining. sorry back to German.
Thanks for watching and your detailed personal feedback!
Welcome to Edinburgh, nice place. Good video, thank you.
Thanks for watching and your important financial support of the channel! Have a great day!
Another smooth flight. Thx for sharing and - as always - happy landings 😉

Incredible videos!
Thanks! Please tell everybody about the channel! Thanks in advance for your help!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos Of course! My girlfriend is a bit of a nervous flyer so these videos are helpful for showing her through the incredible amount of checks that are done before and during the flights!
- Great video, as always. But it seemed you started from runway 05R, in the description it is said 23L.
Thanks again and have a great weekend!
Fabulous captain..
Thank you very much! All the best to you!
I think you had a military C130 behind you at number four for the approach. (59:30) I heard the call sign "Shockwave Romeo". The Shockwave callsign is used by the US Military C130 transporters. I used to watch another cannel where the pilot posted his videos flying those. No offence, but I love the C130!
Thanks for providing the additional information. I had know idea that the US Military is using this callsign. Have a nice day!
I’ve been hoping for your return to Edinburgh! Sorry about the clouds, they’re a permanent feature, we did our best to turn the rain off though!
I can’t help but wonder if your flight contained the returning Tartan Army… from what I’ve read they left quite an impact in Germany and represented Scotland very well.
It’s probably just my perception, but was the departure from a rather dreich Düsseldorf fast? Felt like it took no time to get to V1! Made me wonder if the aircraft was light.
Beautiful approach with a view of the Bridges, and a very smooth looking landing. I enjoyed seeing the aircraft bearing down, reflected on the windscreen of the tug.
🇩🇪🛫🌍🛬🏴🧑🏻✈️
Great work sir. I was wondering if you could go into detail about the airbus landing technique and how it differers from other aircraft? I am sure all your regular viewers
9myself included) would deeply enjoy this. Plus it would immensely help me as watching your videos has inspired me to book a session in a A320 level d simulator and consider a career change!
Thanks for your good and very personal feedback! It is great to hear that my videos are inspiring you and you think now about a career in aviation. Landing an Airbus A320 is very similar to landing a conventional airplane. Start of the flare is at about 30 feet. With a heavy A321 it may be a little earlier or with a lightweight A319 a little later. Retarding the thrust levers at about 20 feet - when you hear retard - is usually a good idea. I wish you lots of fun in the fullflight simulator!
Nice
Thanks for watching!
Kleiner Fehler in deiner Beschreibung, da geht's nach Birmingham...😉. Wie immer ein klasse Video.
Vielen lieben Dank für den Hinweis! Ist inzwischen korrigiert!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos ......👍
Erst liken, dann schauen! :3
Excellent video once again! May I ask you about the warning which was displayed on the PFD altitude tape in red at 1:01:04? It's the first time I have seen that but I can't read what it says as it's quite small... Maybe I need glasses 🙂
Thanks for watching and your good feedback! The CAPT PFD showed check altitude for a short moment because of a discrepancy between the CAPT PFD altitude and the FO PFD altitude. This was caused because the CAPT PFD altimeter was already set to the local altimeter setting (QNH) and the FO altimeter setting was still at standard. It went away as soon as the FO PFD was also set to local altimeter setting. Have a nice day!
so cool to see as always! any way we could get a mcdu /cpdlc camera aswell? :) greetings from germany
Thanks for your good feedback! I work on solutions in regard to a MCDU camera. As always, it is more difficult than I assumed. First results may be published soon. Please stay tuned!
Thanks once again for an amazing video.
May I ask a question? Is there a certain amount of time after takeoff you have to hand fly the airbus or can you engage AP as soon as you're both ready? I'm assuming its more fun to fly by hand for as long as possible!
Thank you for sharing your great feedback! The minimum autopilot engagement altitude is 100 feet above ground, but not less than 5 seconds after lift off. Usually, we engage the autopilot much later. It is up to the pilot flying to decide whatever he or she likes. Most of the pilots I have seen switch it on latest at about 10.000 feet.
A very enjoyable flight, the approach to Edinburgh is lovely isn't it? I remember a flight arrival or departure I cant remember but we flew closer to the suspension bridge and got a really great view of it.
One question, I have noticed that when the First Officer has landed the aircraft control is always passed to you to take the aircraft to its final parking position, is there a reason for this?
Thank you again for a great flight.
Thank you very much for watching, your great feedback and your important financial support of the channel! Company SOP is that the Captain always is taxiing the airplane, even if the First Officer is pilot flying. The airlines do operational risk assessments in regard to the SOPs and decide on the basis of the result who is allowed to taxi the airplane. Different airlines have different policies. Have s nice day!
Hallo:) geiles Video. Echt top.
In älteren Videos sieht man Microsoft Surface Computer. Die haben wir davor benutzt. Einen schönen Tag noch!
A great video, as always! 👍✈
May I ask you a short question: considering only the A320ceo family, do you as an A320 pilot notice a significant difference in whether you're flying an A320-214 (CFM 56-5B4), an A320-216 (CFM 56-5B6) or an A320-232 (IAE V2500) - for example performance-wise? And what do you actually prefer to fly with?
Thanks in advance for your answer and have a nice weekend!!
Thanks for watching and your good feedback! I do not notice a big different between the mentioned engine variants. The A320-216 provides less power for takeoff. So on some runways we are restricted in regard to the takeoff weight. But when flying the airplane, I do not obsereve noticeable differences. I also wish you a great weekend!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos thank you so much for your answer!
If the captain and fo get along well can they request to fly together frequently?
Yes, it is possible to request to fly with a certain colleague on the flightdeck. He or she needs to do the same. This may interfere with requested off days, vacation …
In the uk we actually want global warming :-)
Sometimes, a few degrees more make the life a bit nicer.
