It might take a long time to come, but when summer break finally comes in Japan, it comes with a lot of expectation.

Bravo!! Your opening drone shot was epic!! I've been watching your videos from when you were filming with a camcorder. It's so inspirational and encouraging to see you master the art of content creation. I really enjoy watching the adventures of your family too😊 Keep up the great work my brother! Aloha from Yokohama🤙
Thanks! I love the drone, but you've got to be out of the city to use it Japan. Otherwise I'd probably use it a LOT more! Ha ha!
I agree! The opening is fantastic!!!

Put away the books, we're out of school ♪
The weather's warm, but we'll play it cool ♪
We're on vacation, having lots of fun ♪
It’s crazy how in some other countries people’s last day of school would be someone else’s first day of school in the U.S
everyone seems to be having fun.
We LOVED Showa Kinen when we went there and we can't wait to go back to Japan and explore even more. We didn't know they rent bikes at the park so we will definitely be trying that out in the future.
We started summer break June 25th and the kids go back Sept 5th! I hope you guys enjoy your summer break and make some great memories!
Good family video❤I love ur family’s character.
Wow it’s such a wonderful attitude of the kids to work on their homework early❗️❤️
When I was a child, I always put it off and struggled at the end of the summer holidays.😅
Now we're working with them to finish early, but it's starting to get behind!
Swimming is so much fun and relaxing. I’m excited to the camp trip. In America we do get homework over the summer. So true spending with friends and family also enjoy the summer too. Your guys parks look so much fun. Ice cream so good in the summer time. The Fountain looks so pretty. It’s look like the restaurant you guys are camping.
I really look forward to Friday's because of your content! Thank you to Nate, Ruth, Anna, Becca, Sara, and Joshua! I love you all! The songs you have playing throughout the videos have become quite nostalgic to me, Nate! I can't thank each of you enough! I'm so happy to be a part of your huge life in Japan family, thank you!
Thank you!
what a lovely way to start the summer vacation!!
Enjoy the summer break! Today is the last day of summer break, where I am, which means for me getting back to work.
enjoy the summer... we got winter here in Australia...brrrr....
brrr! It sounds good to me right now though :)
This year, I feel that we finally had a summer vacation-like summer.
I am glad to hear that your children are doing well despite the heat😊
Showa Kinen Park is a wonderful park to enjoy no matter what season you come.
Becca and Anna must be immediately well-liked at their new middle school.🌞
I am sure the Lake Yamanaka episode will be in the next issue!
Great start to 夏休み! It was fun even for us just by watching! 😁 Japan's parks and playgrounds are just marvellous. The restaurants and cafes are so creative too, like in this episode - the tents look so cozy!^^ Also great to see the girls having a blast with their friends!
Such awesome playgrounds there!
I hope you all have a magnificent summer!
It crazy you start summer break. My school is getting ready to start soon. Most of the school in the US started. Interesting to see the country comparison. Have a good summer break!
Lovely video makes me so excited to come back to japan love watching your video thank you and hope u enjoy the summer break
Hi everyone what a great park to visit, those Sunflowers are beautiful they are my favourite plants, that lake by Mount Fuji was beautiful, im being treated for my cancer soon. Kind regards respect and love always.
Getting homework out of the way sounds better than doing it last minute. Mario movie! Bowser's Peaches song is hilarious! 😂
Our kids favorite part! And it has been sung a million times already!
Children's loud and cheerful shouts of "Natsuyasumi! Natsuyasumi!" Even us, the viewers, are happy and happy. However, there are many accidents involving children during summer vacation in Japan. Especially water accidents and fire accidents caused by outdoor camping etc. Anyway, please be careful about accidents and pay close attention.
Natsuyasumi!」
That’s the same place we go…..!! Every year we do retreats there at Yamanakako aria too
Oh my watching the 4 our them going ZOOOOOMMM down that slide made me laugh so much. Ahahaha.
A min min zemi (a kind of cicada) is calling "WIN WIN"
Have a nice summer!
most of my summer breaks were spent indoors on the computer because the UK always has rain
I wonder when these kids go back to the US, will they ever get adapted? It seems they are having the best of times
they may choose to stay in Japan - considering that is where their extended family is and for them, the US is just their passport country.
I hope to go to Japan someday but this year I went to Thailand.
Thailand is a lot of fun!

After the Bali parents feel guilty and make its up. Just kidding. Thank you to sharing nice summer break video.
Congrats on your sponsor by Nord VPN! I think this is the first time I've seen you guys sponsored 🤔 Regardless, congratulations 🎉 Happy Summer to the kiddos 🌺
We did a number of sponsorships before COVID - they are picking back up again now afterwards!
5:10 thats so odd. Here where I am its considered illegal to give homework during the holidays
My kids wish it was illegal! 😂
Hey! Why don't you come see the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio! And we can go out for lunch together!
That sounds fun! We might have to take you up on that some time. Contact us at www.reutterfamily.com so we can connect via email.
The only way you would be coming to me is along plane ride to USA, Holtwood pa.
Maybe not near you then! ha ha!
I have always wondered, why do they still wear masks in Japan? I thought they only did it when they were sick-ish or coughing a lot? And is airconditioning not a “normal” thing in restaurants??? Loved the video as always! Looks like an amazing kick-off for their summer break! 👏🏻
Masks are a cultural thing here, even before COVID, and so many Japanese like to use them, even when not sick. And a lot of places have air conditioning, just in parks usually you find food trucks and not restaurants with air.
Japanese here. What Life In Japan-San says is true but at the same time Japanese people, mostly kids, don't want to take off masks because they've grown up with wearing masks all the time last 3 years. It became kinda normal for them. Also, some kids say they don't wanna take off masks because they have no confidence about their face. It's kinda sad and means they're living under the lookism🥲
@@nmk1515 How interesting! I never realised that this could be a impact on masks after covid - children being so used to it that they rather wear it? It’s also very saddening that some kids aren’t comfortable with showing their face 😔
@@LIJ Thank you for always answering my questions! 🤗 It’s so interesting how different life if there, and at the same time there are so many similarities!
@@EllieCG1999 the same was /is happening in the US-- especially for those who are shy or suffer from self confidence issues 😞
so sarah is part of the 1% who enjoys chocolate mint. good for her.
Mmmm - and me too.

Hello reutter family! Question about living in japan. My wife and I were thinking about living in japan west of tokyo and wanted to know about what its like to live with earthquakes. My wife is scared of earthquakes. What is it like? Are worried about the impending doom of earthquakes how many do you feel in your area and are they a big deal?
Our first couple ones were like - wow, earthquake! Now we hardly notice them. I’ve never had anything fall or come close to anything falling and the houses are built so well that it’s so safe.
@@ruthreutter8355 Nice! do you extra precaution when hanging anything up or placing anything on shelves? also thank you for taking the time to respond :) means a lot
I personally don’t but I don’t have anything really tall. But all the stores sell earthquake prevention things like these special tension rods for on top of tall shelves so they don’t fall, or things to secure TVs , all “assemble yourself” furniture come with hooks to stick to the wall so they don’t fall. So Japan is prepared!
I was wondering if the younger children are more fluent or engrossed in the Japan culture as the older children since the Japan school is all they have done?
All our kids have been in the school system since pre-k. So they are about all the same.
@@ruthreutter8355 that is amazing! They are great kids.

Is there home work in English or Japanese?

Poor kids, homework on the summerholiday? Here in Sweden they have 10 weeks of summerholiday and no homework. They never have homework on any holiday from school. They have 1 week i october, 3 weeks over christmas and newyear, 1 week in february and 1 week around easter. Its so nice for the kids to be home and relax.
That's a great schedule. Very similar to the States I think.
when in Rome, do as the Romans do
"... with some over-price waffle."
What is the point in giving kids time off to relax and go on holiday if they are given homework to do over the summer break. It’s not right and should be STOPPED.
A little summer homework is NOT a bad thing, because it helps them retain their skills and not forget what they learned. I am a retired teacher, and have seen the problem of kids forgetting too much over the summer. The “skill retention” in reading, writing, and math is especially important for little kids, and math skills at any age.
It did not look like much and it helps them retain what they learned so they don't spend the first month relearning what they were previously taught
