To get the paint to stick you can add a binder to the mix. Gum Arabic is a good binder. Then the paint doesn't rub off.

Gum Arabic does come in liquid and a power form. You could mix it with the powder form ad then spraying with water would work, but I think a spray fixative would just be easier and probably less messy. As long as you don't forget to do it.

Hey Gayle! I was literally just thinking about them today. . .no joke, so I had watched a video this morning about making my own paints, and from what I've gathered there isn't a specific amount. Start with a little and go from there. The gum arabic I saw them use was liquid already, so I'm not sure what you have. I'll see if I can do more research but that is the best I have as of now.

These do not fix by spraying with water because they contain no medium as perfect pearls have. These colors are amazing! And I think on black or dark colored paper is where they belong.

Thanks for making this video, very helpful. Do you have rangers sticky embossing powder? I wonder how it would do with that without a fixative.

amybeth928 oooo, I don’t, but it would be worth a try. It worked great with the clear embossing powder 😊

@@cassietrask yea I just wonder if there's something different in the sticky embossing powder that would be like the resin that's in perfect pearls (but not in the mica) in terms of setting it you know?

It will rub off if mixed with water. If you want to paint with it mix with gum arabic and water let it dry and use as water colors.
