Mr. Heater "Buddy" heaters are safe indoors, but why? And are other manufacturers indoor safe as well?
Thanks. Never understood the "just open a window" people.. it's not like I'm trying to crank these up on a nice day. Opening a window totally kills the point. Knowing what to monitor is the only thing that makes these useful indoors imo.
thank you. i love my nr heater even more now ❤
this video answered all the questions i couldnt find anywhere else.
Merry Christmas Dan all the best for 2021 thanks
Super informative video! Answered my questions, thank you sir! A 👍and a new subscriber!
Thanks! I hope you like fishkeeping!
Thank you
Exactly what I was looking for, because shopping for one to prepare in case
If you use my link when you go shopping on Amazon, I'll get commission on whatever you buy, so that would be appreciated!
Absolutely excellent my man.......i was concerned at burning a calor gas heater in my campervan, with only the side window and the passenger side window open (one inch and 3 inches respectively) but obviously there is enough oxygen passing between the two, because the fire continued working.......thankyou i am now relieved...Cheers
You probably don't even need an open window. There's enough gaps and spaces for gasses to move. It's a lot of heat for a small space though, so maybe cracking a window isn't a bad idea. Lol
my local auto parts store has those for $69.99 hardware store $ 99.99 it pays to shop around . thanks for vid , i might get one for out side working on car , my 20+ year old k1 heater still works fine hasnt killed me yet .
I use my heater outside. Wind will affect it, but it does a great job at projecting the heat at you from a distance.
I got this one last year on Amazon for $69.99 too. Prices went way up.
We have that one, with one burner, and the one with 2 burners. We use them in the house quite often when our wood heat isn’t appropriate our we are low on wood. They are amazing!
You explained it so good. I have two gas old old heaters in rent house Only source of heat. I can't breath I keep having to open doors also house is very insulated old 97 year old home. No smoke alarms or carbon monoxide detectors its the low oxygen I thought that sweat causes carbon monoxide and I'm up noe at 3 am nauseated headache can't breath my 7 yo is here husband says no way its
You can get sick or have headaches from excess carbon dioxide too.
I use a Mr Heater that holds the 20lb tank inside it, it has three 6kbtu tiles. It burns cleanly. I also have a Mr Heater forced air propane (salamander style) it doesn't burn cleanly, it would be very deadly to use inside.
Please could you link to the heater you are using. I would love to buy one!
@@kathrynruth1615 search SKU# F227500, at the moment on sale at Northern Tool for $95, that's a steal! I fill my own 20lb tanks from a 1000 gallon tank in my backyard...that makes it really economical to use. You'll get at least 60hrs of run time on low per BBQ tank. Cheers
@@bruceeverett5372 thank you! You mentioned two heaters in your first comment. Is this the one that burns clean?
@@kathrynruth1615 Yes.
As long as you keep windows open and have at least 2 carbon monoxide detectors, any heater is indoor safe.
No need to keep windows open for this.
@@DanHiteshew-oneandonly From my experience you do else you'll deplete the O2 and there is a chance of suffocation.
@@abdullahal-shimri3091
Would the same apply to using a kerosene heater, because I use one of those in my home with no windows open, and there is no problems with anyone suffocating.
@@xh0rsex i have one for the garage, how do you keep your's from making your home smell like burning gas
@@mikethomas7138
I don't do anything to "make" my kerosene heater not smell like burning gas. It just doesn't smell.. I light it outside due to the initial ignition/burning smell, then after like 5 minutes, I bring it in and leave it alone.
Thank you, I’ve been putting off getting one because I’ve watched several videos where people say not to chance it, but your explanation has cleared some of that up.
How would you compare this or any of the other Buddyheaters to a 1500watt space heater?
Buddy puts out a huge amount of heat. (a lot of water vapor too)
@@DanHiteshew-oneandonly thanks!!
Do you have to remove propane tank every time used ??
No. If you;'re using the 20g tank, turn off the valve.
Was looking at getting a my buddy heater. Just curious about how many hours would you estimate you get out of one little green bottle of propane if the heater is set to high?
Not long. It cranks out the heat and so it burns through the bottle in about 2 hours on hi.
@@DanHiteshew-oneandonly OK thanks, I was probably going to go the 25lb tank route with adapters anyways. Now I will for sure.
How safe is the buddy if I put an adapter on it to use a larger tank
I wouldn't keep a large tank indoors, but if you do use a line to run to a larger tank, be sure to use the filter, and check it periodically. I've heard the propane dissolves the rubber and gums up the heater after a while unless you have a filter.
Otherwise, it's just as safe as with the one pound tank. All the safety features will still function.
Ok thanks 😊
I have one that’s absolutely identical to the red one but mine is a different brand , and it says outdoor use only , I think probably comes down to which companies want to get their certified and who wants to run the risk of saying theirs is indoor safe
They say to remove propane tank every time you use it Do you ?
No. I remove it when It's empty.
You can attach to a larger tank if you get a hose for it, online it says a 20lb propane tank provides 110hrs of heat.
Are those infrared heaters?? I thought that style was called radiant 😊
Either or. It produces infrared radiation. It's not catalytic.
I can't use these indoors, there are smells and headaches. the catalyst does not produce toxins and is effective.
Is the Buddy heater electric?
No, it's propane.
Wow, just wow
Thank you
